I honestly respect Coop for doing videos like these that show people how pretty much no one NEEDS 11 to 7 gauge 3'x3' racks. You're never going to compromise the integrity of the steel. I have used this rack in the video for 5 years. It's fine. There are some issues. The J hooks that came with mine are a little different, but they're bare metal. Meaning that over the years I have grinded off material from the rack (and probably my bar) when re-racking a squat and bench. This is also incompatible with most attachments since they are made for 3x3 racks. This rack is also short. I cannot pin press with this. The pull up handles are too low for me. I have to bend my knees so my feet are behind me to do pull ups. I'm happy to have something, but after 5 years I want something nice. So, I'm getting a REP rack.
@Tycoon2482 жыл бұрын
I bought this rack in 2017 and have used it ever since. it has survived 400lb squat bails, a 600lb rack pull fail, and NUMEROUS bench mishaps. Beyond this I made a risky call a few years back and removed the top bracing because I redid my basement and it wouldn't fit if I kept it. It STILL has yet to fail. I cannot believe the value I have gotten out of this rack, and I am now hesitant to get rid of it now that I have MULTIPLE better racks in my garage, purely for sentimental reasons. It receives my highest recommendation for a dirt cheap rack that I got for just under 300 dollars.

I bought one of these racks about two years ago. I'd wanted a rack in the garage for a long time, and I'd been looking. But all the racks I saw were either $700+ or they looked like they'd fall over if you breathed on them. I was super broke at the time - all my money was tied up in my dojo - so a $700 was just plain not going to happen. I saw this one and thought, "that actually looks solid enough to use." Bought it, tried it out, and for the price, I've been extremely happy with it. I bench 300+ and squat almost 400, and this rack holds up just fine to those numbers. It's a tad bit wobbly at times, but never enough that I have any worries that it will fall over on me. Also, one thing Coop didn't mention - the pull up bars are quite stable. I've owned cheap "power tower" pull-up bars in the past and they always flexed under my weight, which made pull-ups hard. This thing doesn't budge when I'm doing pull-ups, which is great. Will I be upgrading to a better rack as soon as I can afford it? Absolutely, I will. But in the meanwhile, I can enjoy having a rack at the house, not spending money to go to a gym, and continuing to get stronger. And, honestly, I won't be upgrading to a cheaper Rogue or Rep rack, either, because it's not worth it. This one will do just fine until I can afford a Rogue Monster or comparable rack. Honestly, I saw the title and I was a bit afraid Coop was going to trash it. But his review was spot on. If you can afford better, get better. But if your money is super tight, but you still really, really want a rack, this is actually a solid buy.

This rack, a Costco 300-lb plate set, econo-pulleys from Spud, and walmart floor mats got me lifting 4 days a week for under $1000, delivered to my door. All I've really added are adjustable dumbells and some odds and ends, so I'm basically at $1500 all in. I see that as a reasonable investment in my health, and one that is probably worth it for lots of people, even if lifting homegym doesn't evolve into its own hobby for them. The biggest drawback of this rack for me is that I'm tall, so the pullup bar isn't ideal. But even when I get around to upgrading to a nicer rack, this one will probably become a dedicated bench station and row station (with Spud pulleys), and I'll kit out the new one for everything else. But I've got 300+ workouts on this thing and have never had an issue.

to everyone interested: i am bodybuilding for over 10 years now (6 times a week) and this rack is part of my home gym. it is super good and more than enough for every person, who is not a strong powerlifter. i am stronger than this guy and i will never need a different rack at home. it is not flashy, but is does the job for 99 percent of people out there. if you are a high level powerlifter, look for a different rack. if not, buy this.

I'm one of those gym goers that was desperate for a rack after the gyms shut down last year. I ended up buying this rack, but at the height of price gouging last year, I saw even Amazon was selling these for 600 a pop. It's great the see the prices finally come down. I ended up getting the pull down assembly, which works well. Anyway, it's a great budget rack that fits pretty much every attachment for a 2x2 with 1 in holes. I ended up getting weight plate holders and threw my 45's on them. The rack doesn't budge if you use the weight plate holders. I was a little iffy on the small J-cups, so I went ahead and upgraded the Jcups. Overall, it works great in the garage. Also got the landmine attachment, which is great. It will be fine for most lifters. Kinda wanted to see that drop test though. I mean I'm never going to lift 900 lbs, but it would be interesting to see how it holds up.

@@exxingo Fitness reality sells the landmile that goes with it on amazon as well. You can even get all the accessories for $149.99 now on amazon. Last week it was a $255. I bought this rack, the lat pull down and accessories on Wednesday !

@@exxingo Yes. That landmine Johann mentioned is the one I wanted, but fitness reality accessory bundle was out of stock at the time last year. I ended up getting the YES4ALL version, which is similar, but works fine. If the FR is there, it' probably slightly better. I did get the FR dip attachments and added 2 sets of weight holders (forgot the brands, but they all work). Fortunately, Amazon has a lot of 2x2 compatible accessories so pretty much most accessories work since the hole and spacing is standard. Just check reviews to make sure. I even saw 2x2 jammer arms at one point. Sometimes you have to be patient though as stock comes and goes.

Do you know of any better j-cups for this rack that’s in stock and isn’t expensive?
@grocerygetters3 жыл бұрын
@@samjones1211 Look for yes4all 2x2 jcups on amazon, google shopping or ebay. I found them for 34.99 randomly sometime last year and they're great and even have the padding to not scratch up your barbell. The prices are up and down nowadays so I would keep an eye out for pricing. I believe the Titan T2 rack 2x2 rack also has the same measurements and diameter holes (1 inch), but I'm not 100%. If so, in theory their attachments including jcups should work. Hope that helps.

I bought one of these a few years ago on Amazon for $200. I’ve been using it a couple of times a week ever since and it’s been all I need. The posts are 2” x 2”. I can’t see needing anything more than this unless you’re lifting over 600 lbs. I bolted two 5 foot long 4 x 4’s to the feet to lift the whole rack a few inches higher for pull ups (I’m 5’ 11”). My feet still touch the ground, but that was as high as I can go without hitting my head on the ceiling. The 4x4s also added to the stability. Like others have said... don’t drop test it... do a raffle or donate it!

I actually have this rack and I got to say it is awesome for the price. It is a bit wobbly without weight on it but I stow the weights at the bottom of the rack catacorner to each other and it really helps with the stability. Plus I don't plan on ever doing more than 500 lb squats on it, so i feel good about the rated capacity. Just buy some better j-hooks and weight stows and you are all set.

0:48 That's honestly pretty impressive I work at a Walmart distribution center and sometimes we have to put these kinds of racks on our pallets and even with two people these things feel unbelievably heavy. We have what I call 4 weight categories light, medium weight, team lift and mechanical lift. Team lifts can already be a pain to deal with but mechanical lift boxes are dreadful and the fact that you could drag it, lift it and walk a few steps with it is impressive on its own.
@rinkuhero2 жыл бұрын
i looked up its weight on amazon and it's 130 pounds. that is heavy but it surprises me it requires a machine to lift, like i know most people don't lift that much in a box very easily but people in the army can lift 130 pounds just as a basic training strength test. the box weighs as much as a normal weight (or on the light side) woman, and most men can like, carry their wife over the threshold after marriage (traditionally) for a few steps.
@ihswap2 жыл бұрын
@9λ I used to squat 3 plates and I'm not even that strong. I still think the box carry is way more impressive than a demonstration with 4 plates.
@ihswap2 жыл бұрын
@@rinkuhero Nah the weight on alot of the boxes is straight up wrong. Idk how its even legal but I can attest that the weight is wrong. I once had a box with two 30lbs plates so 60lbs in total and the weight showed up ad 30 lbs. Or we can lift a box that says its 120 lbs like its nothing but then we get a box that says 140 and it's really hard to lift. A lot of heavy object also have the same 130-140 lb range on the labels but they're all clearly heavier you'll NEVER see anything that weighs over 150lbs for some reason when alot of items clearly do. Affordable doesn't always mean cheap. A lot of people's first guitars are Fenders. The people that made this thing seem to know what they're doing as far as the rack attachment. But that won't last long.

@@jaredlind2888 fortunately the safety bars seem pretty robust, but yeah that's why I went a more expensive route with most of my gear. The T-3 is probably the best affordable starter rack out there for anyone who has moderately high lifting goals. Plus it depends on the person. If I bought the Fitness Reality Rack I'd be extremely uncomfortable because I'm almost as tall as it, and I'd be worried about reracking weights or dropping them (higher fall=better chance of the structure failing).

Progear and Fitness Reality cages are sold by the same company (Paradigm Health and Wellness). The design is about the same, other than the J hooks. 2. The frame is ASTM tested for the 800 lbs weight limit. This means it was statically loaded with 2000 lbs (800 lbs * 2.5 = 2000 lbs). 3. Your cage shake comparison was meet with a "HEY" in the office, since the comparison rack was loaded with weight plates.

I bought one of Walmart’s last remaining rack in all of CT quite literally the day before everything sold out. Got lucky. Only $175 (rack, safeties and no bench). In fact.... it’s this rack! I loaded all the plates that could fit in an OPB ~800lbs and left it overnight on the J-hooks. Didn’t budge. I failed a 500 squat and lowered it rather quickly but controlled. No damage. Then I coincidentally passed out during a 365 front squat at the top, dropped the bar into a true free fall onto the safeties, and while it did rip some of the metal where the safeties/J-hooks go minimally, those holes are still 100% usable. This is actually an awesome rack for the price

Before I even knew Garage gyms were a thing (not the channel as in many people wnted one, way before covid) I just didn't like waiting for the equipment to be free so I purchased this and a barbell and nice disc package I found, and it was glorious, I figured I could do 90% of the workouts I do in the gym. And for that time I was right. I still have it, like 8 years later or so, I repainted it a couple of times because I even left it out in the rooftop, it did rust a little. But nothing too troublesome, I can squat 225 easily, I know it's not that much, but it's exactly what that it's meant for, not that much, your average gym rat I would guess, who want to lift for fitness, not for record powerlifting.
