My order total from Rogue was around $3,900 but with shipping costs it came to something like $4,500. After I put in my order I realized that orders over $5,000 ship free. So basically, I could have got somewhere around $1,100 worth of actual equipment and only spent 500 more bucks (not that my wife would have gone for me spending even more money on the gym). Something to think about if you are starting your own home gym.

I can’t believe I just came across your comment. I just filled up my shopping cart on the Rogue app last night and was just under 4800.00. What I don’t get is you’ll never have all the equipment a gym has and spending 5,000 on a home gym which isn’t that much considering, is 16.5 years of gym memberships. That’s why it’s not worth it. I’d rather put 5000 in something that’s gonna make me money and pay $25 a month for all the gym I’d need.

I'm surprised with some of the negative reviews. I was so impressed with the kzbin.infoUgkxMwYg0MOXR4M-oGeyBsNSYe1aPOUoRH6D cage that I got the lat pulldown attachment that goes with it. It is equally outstanding. I don't have one complaint other than putting it together is a job. The instructions and packaging of the parts are very well designed and organized. Also, I stripped and damaged the pull down cable the first day, admitting it was my stupid fault, and they quickly replaced it at no charge. I'm 6'5, 280lbs and fit in the cage just fine. Glenn B

Yep, with most companies there is tons of gouging, just look at the price of kettlebells....with the exception of Rogue. They run out sure...but they haven't taken advantage of anyone by jacking up their prices. I've got a couple of items that I'll be notified for. I did that for some kettlebells but you have to be quick or they will sell what they have in hours or even minutes. Because Rogue isn't taking advantage of anyone, I'll be a customer for life.

Great video!! My husband and I have a basement gym that we’ve built over the last 15 years. We live rurally and access to a commercial gym was limited due to distance and weather (upstate NY). We did NOT start out with the intention of really building a home gym and it sort of evolved into a pretty sweet setup. Most of our buys are used from CL, FB, and old school classifieds (ha!). We definitely have some buys that are probably considered mistakes like tile mats (we do have some horse stall mats) and some DSG specials like the BB, plates, and benches. We enjoy lifting but are by no means posting monster numbers on the big lifts, so hey, it works for us. Maybe one day I’ll buy a nice BB and then understand why the internet is always crapping on the cheapo ones that I use, but until then, ignorance is bliss! 🤣

Idk about just going into your garage and just doing burpees to test if you want a home gym or not. There's a certain appeal to being able to accomplish a full workout at home. Maybe buy enough equipment to accomplish one of your gym workout routines. Like dumbbells and a bench and do a full shoulder workout at home. Something that you would normally do at the gym but would save time doing it at home.

I'm in the Navy and even though they provide gyms on base they aren't very big, so you're constantly waiting your turn to use a machine or a bench. Lots of good advice here. I started the garage gym with a basic sporting goods store 300lb weight set with the crappy bar, and a crappy bench press setup. That actually worked for me for quite a while. Later on I bought a quality bar as my first upgrade, and eventually picked up a set of bumpers (had to buy them a pair at a time due to budget restrictions). I eventually sold all the equipment that I had originally purchased at or near the price I paid for it. Buy on sale! Most of these things really hold their resale value due to steel prices always climbing and the fact that most gym equipment will last longer than we will.

Great video with some nice insight. I put together my basement gym in August and am looking to upgrade into a garage gym for the spring time and need some tips. You're channel has been a good one to watch. I think the only mistake I made with my basement gym is my rack stand. I was on a tight budget and wanted to invest more into the barbell and weights off the bat. Also the ceiling in my basement is only 78" so my choices were limited. The stand works for now, but it was always just a band aide. Come the Spring time I intend to have a full rack in the garage.

I almost bought the Rogue tiles until your channel and then saw the Horse stall mats. Hugely cheaper than Rogues. It's half as thick but it's just me working out, I don't need 1 1/4" 2x2 tiles.

I use horse stall mats as well. There is a major issue with mine, the intense rubber smell is insane. They are not meant to be used indoors. I've had them for 2 years in a very well ventilated room and the smell is still crazy strong.

I started my weightloss journey a little over a month ago. My highest weight being 395. I'm now at 370. I have a small home gym and I like doing this at home rather than going to 24h fitness due to not wanting to be judged or criticized by others of how I let myself go. My blood pressure is the best it's been in years and I have so much more energy with my lifestyle change of eating habits. I haven't felt this good in such a long time.

Love my home gym. Used to go to local gyms, but after 7+ yrs, I found myself slacking off because of the inconvenience of going there as much as I really enjoyed going. My home gym gives me convenience to workout without thinking about it. It's there. Don't have to plan. And I'm totally fine working out alone. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

Thanks Coop, I enjoyed this one. I was waiting about the flooring bit. It costs quite a bit but it's a real requirement to have in a home garage gym. I'm going 20mm with my home garage gym and nothing less. I have been training for a long time but I grew tired of the gym and opted to buy a Multi Gym which has everything I need and some wants as well but I know I am going to use it. It's also a very important point you raised about starting small to see if you will stick to training at home, if you are not motivated to train alone then it will be difficult to stay focused. Thanks for the advices.

I made the mat mistake. I was using those cheap puzzle piece mats under my squat rack. I just ordered a couple of proper 4X6 rubber mats from American Floor Mats. The shipping was almost $90. But the mats have purple flecks, which is awesome. I love purple. I am hoping the mats will do the trick.

An average horse weighs 900-2,000 pounds, depending on size and breed. A lean, racing fit Thoroughbred, for example, will typically weigh 900-1,100 pounds, while the average Clydesdale (think Budweiser) weighs in at 1,800-2,000 pounds
