Finally someone else who thinks Connor is a badass. I hate seeing all these reviews with the editor hating on him for being boring/humorless or rash and angry. I see that and I think to myself "uhh hello, did you not pay attention to the story?" Last I checked his mom died right in front of him and people burned his village down. He was beat as a child by some of the game's main villians and he ends up getting betrayed at the end by the people he helped *spoiler alert for those of you who still haven't played this 2 year old game* but anyway my point is the only person he has to be grateful to is his village elder and the Achilles. Everyone else just uses him and his youth and prowess and then leaves him. Idk about any of you but if all that happened to me I think I'd be pretty humorless and angry too. Like am I making sense or am I the only one who thinks this?

How the heck is a made up character backstory an excuse for a lazy character characterisation? I mean, the point of fiction is to be entertaining, and this character failed to entertain such a large portion of the audience that he went damn near killing the franchise. What the writter gives as an in-world excuse isn't an excuse for bad writting. Connor reeks with wangst (whiny 'angst'/emotion) which comes off as unlikable, boring and un-immersive. There was no connection between his personality and his actions (are you really blaming this guy for having killed the people I *just saw you murder on screen*??!). And most of all he is an absolute Marty Sue, the kind of character a fanfic writter makes in an attempt fullfill his own wishes for respect, 'badassness', or encountering of cannon characters. It's also clear that they had already decided all the battles/negociation rooms he would be in far before finding reasons for him to actually be there. But maybe americans can overlook that because they think throwing tea into a pond is actually pleasant. I was a die-hard fan to the series and Connor on his own discouraged me from playing the fourth instalment. I hope they actually make an engaging character for Unity.

Yeah let me go through all he did and come out being an interesting and fun kind of guy. Not happeneing and on top of that, you already have Ezio. See the issue with people like you is that you complain about much Connor sucks for such reasons but at the same time if they were to make him any different you would still complain because you're comparing him to a completely different character. You would whine and bitch that they made him too much like Ezio. So they took Connor (kinda shitty growing up phase like Ezio) and made him go the darker route. Yeah, Connor was okay but I feel that they rushed AC3 but I've played some of AC4 and I love it. Anyway, AC3 had great graphics, good multiplayer but a rushed and a bit of a boring story. My fave is AC: Revelations.

In my opinion, Haytham was intended to be the main character; the implication being that the templars won and ended up establishing america. In all likelihood, the powers that be in the marketing department figured that since the series has long since established that the templars are the mustache twirling villains and the assassins are the good guys (even though they could both care less about ordinary people) having a game in the series based in America, while also being marketed primarily in America, probably shouldn't have the templars winning. The cutoff point of the original storyline must've been when we jumped to connor, because the first time we see Charles Lee after 10 years he's become a stereotypical templar; practically a cartoon! A total 180 from the honorable, if a little naive, noble we saw at the beginning of the game. This is the true weakness of the series. Being virtually incapable of humanizing the templars beyond greed and arrogance. The only reason I think Haytham came out as one of the best characters AC history (ha.) is simply because he was an assassin once, and only the assassins can be written as human beings. For me, the game is a 6/10. The free running mechanic is floaty and unrealistic, and Desmond's backpack has an obvious screen tear that was never fixed. While the battle system is good, and the assassin's guild mechanic and job system is much improved, the game is practically the poster child of the weakness inherent in the writers. It's a shame, since the series had so much potential...

The kick of the series is that Assassins and Templars can be anywhere and anytime, and at the end of the day Edward is more of a pirate than an Assassin, that's been said over and over again in interviews.

4:46 I once experienced a similar glitch in Harry Potter 6 for the Wii. In one of the final scenes ( where Dumbledore and Snape is talking in the Astronomy Tower ) the lip- syncing was for some reason swapped, so when for example Dumbledore was speaking, Snape was the one moving his lips. I have no idea what caused this glitch, but it was pretty amusing to see.

I didn't like the Connor character that much, he didn't grow on me for some reason (Too stiff and boring?), and the game overall wasn't as interesting as with Ezio and his story. I also didn't enjoy the controls, especially the free running. Miss the free-running button a lot (running with L2 + X) which unfortunately didn't returned in AC4, so I must be one of the few who actually enjoyed that combination of buttons? Anyway We could have lived without AC3 and waited for AC4 (to be AC3,) instead since the character is much more interesting and the gameplay a lot more fun with some traditional systems returned to make the game playable! My opinion anyway!

It also depends on how you play it. I think the makers focus more on story and presentation in cut scenes than on gameplay, the gameplay did just come in handy and fun because of playing an assassin.

Theres a lot of Connor love (and Connor hate) in here, but not much about the templars. Is it just me or does AC3 have the best templars in the series? I could not name more than two or maybe three of the Templars in any other game. The ones in this game just seemed really vibrant and well written (except Hickey, he's stupid.) I was happy to see William Johnson appear in Rogue, and obviously Haytham is king.

I really became attached to the main Templars( Hickey, Church, Pitcam, Johnson, especially Haytham, and actually a little of Charles Lee)- the main naval Templar I didn't really get to know very well.- but anyway yea I became really attached to them. Because for the fist 3 or so hours of the game you down gathering them up. And yes you are write they are really lively, their scripts are so well written. Idk about everyone else but playing as Haytham really made me question if the Templars are so immoral and evil as we think. After all Haytham and his group freed the native Americans and Connors mother. Which seems backward toward the Templars ideology of structure and order- most Europeans saw the North American natives as barbarians and savages, and seeing how the Templars in this franchise strive for order and conformity it just seemed odd that they would do that, but in a good way. My point is that thee Templars in AC3 were pretty more humanize and enjoyable than any others I. Previous games. I can't say for black flag, rouge and unity because I havnt played those

cooldude101ish i never really got attached to any templar personally. and kinda lost interest in rogue because it being just a re skin of 4 that did things better then rogue and i had little to no interest in playing the templar side of things. i also over all perfer the ezio trilogy because it has a more hero-villian dynamic.

Assassins Creed is the only video game franchise I play. I don't play Mass Effect, Halo, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy or anything much. I do have Call of Duty MW3, Ghosts and Advanced Warfare but I'm not getting any other Call of Duty games because they're all the same the thing. Assassins Creed though is the stuff.

One time while playing I saw Achilles' cane flying over water, just flying alone in the middle of nowhere. Another time I encountered the bug where you lose some weapons, I lost all of them, every single one.

Favorite ac game is 2, without a doubt. The story is amazing and the progress thst was made between ac 1 and 2 is the biggest in the series. I loved ezio, I loved the setting, the background story with desmond, ezios quest for revenge was intriguing plus I love exploring tombs. Im so mad that they took out tombs out of the series, sone of tge best parts of ac 2 and ac b(my second favorite ac game). I beat every ac game at leat twice, but ac r I beat 4 times, ac b was 6 and ac 2 I beat 8 times.

I hate to break it to you but, uhm, Charles Lee never cased that village fire. If you paid attention to the end of the missions where you and Haythem teamed up (where Connor was talking to George W.) there was a scene where Haythem grabbed something from Washington and told Connor about it. It was an order of attack against his village but Haythem also mentioned how he has done the same thing in the past to the village. Washington attacked the village. Lee only wanted them to go modern.

In AVR and ACB when you messed up a counter in the game your sword would wiggle and you would mess up the counter move. Also I never said that ACB or ACR were hard but more difficult than AC3 and an actual chalenge since in AC3 I can actually close my eyes and kill 20 soldiers at a time.

Everyone says Connor is a bland angry character. In my opinion, Altair is pretty static too. Sure, he changes into someone who isn't an asshat, but that's just common sense he gained; and Altair never gets a bad rep. In my opinion, Connor is a great fucking badass character. The reason he's so angry is because his whole story was based on anger. (Spoiler Alert) He's angry because his mother dies horribly, then he seeks vengeance and only gains more hate towards the British and the Templars...

You should try out Assassin's Creed 3 again Jeremy, they fixed a LOT of the bugs. They had 3 main bug fixing updates. Day 1, Thanksgiving Day, and Holiday Season. They had another but I'm not sure when that was. Regardless it is a LOT better experience now.

Tbh, Ezio did carry on him alot more heavier armour, but he was able to climb.. buildings. I kinda condradicted myself there, but there was really no need for Ezio to climb trees.. because he was always in places where.. climbing trees weren't really a need.

nah man we all have different opinions and I respect yours. it just people only see what they want to see in a character and want to talk nonsense about Conner because we isn't as charming or whatever like Ezio but what you have to realize is that they are two completely different characters that come from two very different walks of life. AC1 was the most true to heart AC game ever made. The story and characters were amazing. plus with the other sources like the book it really completedthe story arc. You can tell they did half-ass the game when you compared it to the E3 interview with Jade Raymond. They then just added all the original extra stuff to AC2. I'm not really an Ezio fanboy (personally prefer Altair since, you know, he didn't need all the gear the new assassins need to win). I just cannot understand why people love the forest so much. In AC1 and 2 the parkour was epic because of the buildings you could climb on and prepare some kickass kills. In 3, I didn't like how we had smaller buildings and they used the trees as a replacement. It comes down to a matter of personal taste in the end. And AC3 wasn't enjoyable for me sadly.

He had a lot of reason to be pissed. I'd be pretty pissed if people were attacking my family. I love Ezio, but Connor had such a conflict because there wasn't a bad or good side that he could take. With Ezio there was a quite obvious line between Templar and Assassin. Haytham and Connor both blurred that line.

My favorite was Assassin's Creed I. Unlike many people, I hated Ezio with a passion and loved Altair. Connor was alright, but while I was playing him I really just wanted to play Desmond out the animus. After playing revelations, I tolerate Ezio a lot more, but I still love Altair the best and to me Altair will always be the best Assassin that ever lived. Oh and I had a total crush on Haytham, in fact I wished the game was more focused on him honestly.

I'm curious if Jeremy has stuck with the AC series recently. I know that a lot of people gave up after 3 and I really don't understand that. I thought it was a pretty solid game and since they quit after 3, they missed the badass pirate shenanigans of AC4. I can kinda understand people being like that after what happened with Unity, but that's a different story. I liked Unity as a game but yeah it was an unmitigated buggy disastrophe. However, Syndicate is a lot less buggy and a lot cooler, so there's that.

I see your point, but i personally disagree. AC3 felt a little bit less polished compared to Revelations due to inconsistence in the missions like perusing n' eardropping and other things. And the story and core gameplay of Revelations also were very good. For me the two games are equally good.

The Desmond/Ezio/Altaïr plot of Revelations was fucking fantastic. AC3 was just a bunch of slick animations with "WHERE'S CHARLES LEE" on top of it.

3 is my favorite because I had no bugs Connery was less relatable but who cares he was a bad ass parkor was really smooth in the streets and combat was epic also graphically the snow and the summer frontier was beuatiful I always walked a lot of good side objectives I just wish the stealth and actual assassinations was a bit less linear

Does anyone remember when MGS and AC were friends, like in MGS4 had the Altair costume and AC Brotherhood had the Raiden Outfit....Yeah that was cool

my favorite is 1.AC2 2.AC:brotherhood 3.AC3 not a fan of revelations but was glad they humanized altair more cause he was way to cold in AC1. For AC3 i loved it but like jeremy i wish i could visit other areas. i wished they gave a philadelphia map hell you were a philadelphia suit in the game. another would have been north carolina cause hell why the hell not.

I agree but I liked they haytham sections and even Ubisoft admitted that it started off way to slow. They said that won't be a problem in black flag.
