The first AC game ever... feels like it came out forever ago. I printed out pages with the locations of all those damn flags and collected every single one, back on my 360. Got 1000 Gamer Score on that game... nowadays I don't even remember the login information, but the memories remain. This was the foundation and will always have a special place.

For me it did come forever ago... it has been 15 years! When I first played it, in 2008, I was just 8 years old, and now I have finished university at 22 years old. This game was a massive part of my childhood and adolescence!

It’s kind of ironic that Altaïr gets a better sword when promoted, yet in the Ezio trilogy if you get Altaïr’s sword it’s the one of a lower rank, though does look more iconic.

Yeah, the final sword in 1 was the _Old Syrian Sword_ in 2 (which was upper mid level iirc), and _Altair's Sword_ was like the mid rank blade that I think you had for the bulk of AC1. One could assume _Altair's Sword_ was better forged than it's visual AC1 counterpart and just looked the same, but it's still kinda funny. They could've justified it through the Codex pages if they'd thought about it though. Mention in the Codex talking about him getting the metal and forging his armor that he modeled his personal sword after a more common blade that felt better to him.

I find it funny how identical he looks to Desmond, I know the actual reason is that they used the same character models but for in game logic Desmond's family must have some pretty strong genes to look the same after almost a thousand years.

2 things bother me: First - Why "Sword of Altair" was not the best sword in the game? Second - Why we never saw that silver dagger after first AC game? I mean... I completed this game like 4 times and each time i got that dagger i never used the sword afterwards

Third- Ubisoft removed the gloves on Altair's outfit after ac1 and Ezio trilogy and never used them in future games .

It didn't have the perfect gameplay and sure some parts were repetitive, but my god the storyline and aesthetics of this game were far more interesting than the games that succeeded it imo. I've been playing the remastered Ezio trilogy and this game looks a hell of a lot better than the three of those. I even like this upgrade system better, I've found it silly having to play out this mayor/landlord role in order to make enough to buy things. I found that the violence in this game was used a lot more sparingly and effectively too. Just look at all of the assassination missions in this, the targets are usually in the process of commiting some act of brutality, I think that was done really well. Idk man, this game was just a lot less campy, it felt really different from other games. But after this, I guess the series kinda did just become like every other game.

Ubi really had something special in their "first games", which was lost in the sequels. AC1, Watch Dogs 1, Far Cry 2 (the original wasn't developed by them) all had a much more grown-up approach to things, but it was overshadowed by the gameplay's shortcomings at the time. Though I'd say WD is a great game even gameplay wise, I played it years after its release, so the whole downgrade thing did not affect me. Easily the best revenge story they've ever released - and they really like that theme, lol. Of course the Vaas rivalry in FC3 was pretty damn awesome as well, I'd say that game is their mastercraft, a good balance between a mature journey and good gameplay (without going batshit crazy with it, I couldn't finish FC5 because of the mute protagonist & the stupid gimmicks).

AC 1 made you feel the most like an actual assassin. You got a name, then went through the process of planning your hit. It was repetitive and limited, but the actual assassinations were pretty satisfying. That, and you could always do the bare minimum investigations and pretty much brute force your way to your target. And I think the methodical nature of the bulk of the game made the ending sequence all the more shocking. Like suddenly there's magic, mind control, and betrayal, and then you're left in a room with a bunch of blood written glyphs. It was one hell of an ending.

you need to stop thinking about AC1s gameplay at a surface level... everything from player freedom, utilising your environment to your advantage for example, pickpocketing ppl who have information about the target and the area the target is in and has key information about certain environments to use you your advantage like a hole in a wall on the north end of the rooftop building.... then comes assassinating targets which has effect on the gameplay that ties with the narrative for example, killing the Templar nurse made the mentally ill go out and rot which affects how you traverse....

I do like the attention to detail they have, of how Altaïr checks he's gear for sharpness and fit, feeling more and more like himself again. I honestly think that Altaïr is Autistic. This set of cutscenes, his lack of inflection, and the fact he is the only character outside of Al Mulim who doesn't lower his hood at Masyf or the Bureaus are some signs of this. Also how he doesn't understand until he fucks up hard in Solomon's Temple that he isn't above the rules.

@@Leonardo-po7ht Historical accuracy is a beautiful subterfuge. The crossbow was removed from the game due to the fact that with it it was possible to kill the target of the task without even seeing it on the screen. What made many elements of the gameplay useless, and tasks not interesting.

I've just finished AC1 and playing through AC2 at the moment, I've never played the first 4 AC games, so this is my first time playing them. I'd say the changes they made in AC2 were mostly, if not all for the better. AC1 had a bunch of cool things that made it stand out at the time, but the game as a whole is incomplete. I heard someone say and I can see why now that "AC1 was like a prototype and AC2 was the actual start to the series". AC2 added a ton of new features and mechanics and one of the biggest things that I immediately noticed was how much better the story is. It flows so much better and the intro with the Auditores was great. Overall, I enjoyed AC1, but I don't think it's that good of a game as a whole. AC2 on the other hand is looking very promising and is honestly surprising me with how much of the series staples were created in this entry. I can't wait to jump back into it.

I wish Ubisoft dropped the AC name from Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla so the devs could just go all out with the Mythology shit like they clearly wanted to do. They could've created a new Mythology IP that encompassed all of those new RPGs. That DLC armor set from Mirage makes it look like it's going to be the same type of RPG as the last 3 games but mkst likely brings it more back to Origins's story telling style.

The gameplay feels a bit rough compared to the other games & side-missions are repetitive, but no other game nails the atmosphere as much as this one. Also, it is from 2007. There was nothing like it at the time.
