Minor correction. “We work in the shadows to serve the light” is an established part of the oath an assassin swears during initiation. While it was first said in AC2 during Ezios initiation, it’s been well used throughout the series, as recently as Basims initiation in Mirage, which chronologically takes place 6-700 years before AC2. So it’s not so much a callback to AC2 as using a series phrase that was first written in AC2

Correction: 00:53:35 I know you guys don't do corrections anymore but this is the 3rd or 4th time I'm correcting Damiani on this. YoshiP said that during the very early stages of XVI's pre-production, Remake (not Rebirth) had a huge team working on it and CBU 3 themselves were busy with XIV's expansion at the time, so the pre-production of XVI took a little bit of backseat at that time. There has been no mention of Rebirth having bigger project than XVI. You can fact check this.

Her father did kill the warlord that was based on Nobunaga. "Her father, Akechi Jinsai, killed the great leader Kuroda Nobuhisa, who ruled before the Taikō, in a grave act of treason". In real life, Nobunaga was killed by a man (Akechi Mitsuhide) that went by Jubei. In Onimusha 2, the main character was Jubei Yagyu (so different historical Jubei) and the main antagonist was Oda Nobunaga.

1:48:32 For me, when I'm stuck on a boss, I always try to take a step back and think about why I died and what I could do better. Sometimes it's clear that I was too greedy and wanted to get an extra hit in since I missed my first swing, or maybe I'm doing a lot less damage than I expect and I should check my inventory to see what items could help (did that on the most recent mini boss I fought in Sekiro) If it helps, I always go in knowing that I will die on my first attempt, and use that attempt to watch for boss patterns and test out openings, and that really makes my future attempts easier

One thing about the whole Yasuke thing that I want to throw in the ring regarding asian representation is that the conversations I'm seeing are dominated by American race politics, which are an extremely American way of looking at the world. From my perspective, a view you see a lot in european countries especially, we place a lot of value in where you call home, often a lot more than what your descent is. It's possible that the Scenario Writers shared that outlook. That it doesn't matter what race Yasuke was. The point is he had a Japanese name, and a place in that society, and generally had an interesting story that was small and could be easily expanded upon.

We seriously need more comments like yours. I'm Asian and I hardly see problems with presentation in this. Yes, complaints are valid for some, but should not be to the point of blowing it out of proportion. For me, after watching LazerRz video about Shadows criticism, i realize the devs could also be doing it within the context of what AC is about, representing the underpresented, which at this time in age, might not simply look like it to the mass of general politics. Set in Feudal Japan, where Lords, Samurai and Soldiers dominated, Warring for decades, that's no place for a Japanese Woman to even be mentioned, or be brought up, much less a foreign African man.

The most interesting things about AC Shadows are how different the two characters are and that it’s taking a few gameplay ideas from Splinter Cell. Shame Ubisoft have to ruin it by requiring online for disc installation and locking content behind day one dlc and stuff like that, just like Star Wars Outlaws

Yasuke is exciting. I’m personally very excited to see his story. But I’ve also always been cool with William Adams in Nioh and Tom Cruise in The Last Samurai. Which I know some have had problems with in the past.

@@frankhemstra634 He is right. I am Japanese and the criticism that it looks like China is not uncommon in Japan. The shape of the architecture in the game trailers, the shape of the tatami mats and the size of the shoji screens, the etiquette, the mannerisms, even the clothes and hair style were all different, so people are beyond angry and are now making fun of and ridiculing the game in disgust. Why is it so poorly done...why is there sakura in spring and susuki in fall blooming at the same time? lol If the way Yasuke is depicted deviates from historical fact, while the depiction of the landscape, people, and even the seasons of feudal Japan is not accurate, what in the world is the historical research? As an island nation, we Japanese are not familiar with or interested in things outside of our own country, so we did not understand why this was a problem. And since we are tolerant and at the same time ignorant of the world's affairs, the fact that one of the main characters is a black samurai was initially welcomed with open arms and no one cared. However, as people began to realize how much they disregarded Japanese culture and the Japanese people, it has now become an all-consuming condemnation even in Japan. And now the world over, there are those who try to make the lie that Yasuke was a great samurai a truth, and those who ridicule him, saying that he was just a slave and a pet. Yasuke has been dead for hundreds of years, and yet he is being played for someone else's ideology. They are taunting the dead. Let him rest in peace. What UBI is doing is really sinful.

The DLCs for Valhalla were great. A lot of people didn't like how massive the game was, which I get, but it was cool for me to explore the entire map and do all there was to do after a day of work at night. DLC was that and more.

If you're expecting Sekiro, probably not the series for you. The majority of entries are stealth based games - with a few entries (Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, Shadows) being more 100 hour open world RPGs akin to Witcher 3 gameplay wise.

I dont get the hubbub with Yasuke. People are saying that it's historically innacurate, and since we dont know much about him, then it doesn't make sense. They have obviously never played an AC game. The series has never been accurate to real life. I feel like a normal response would be "Wow, there was a black samurai? 1:49:24 And this is why it behooves developers of Souls games what are not FromSoft to put comprehensive difficulty options into their games, they should also make the normal difficulty a little easy. When Souls fanatics are bad at your Souls-like they don't blame themselves, the "get gud" mentality goes right out the window. So shout out to Respawn and the Jedi games for being such a shining outlier of difficulty options within the Souls-like space. i do wish the difficulty were more tweakable --- i want to max out enemy aggression while also minimizing enemy damage and maximizing parry windows --- and besides that i think Jedi would be a better game to emulate Ninja Gaiden and not Souls.

This was the first EA podcast I listened to since Brad was basically forced out by woke scolds in the patreon or whatever that was. And of course anyone who thinks Ass Crud in Japan is going to be trash is "racist". I've seen people just blatantly hating on it coz they don't like black people but addressing that doesn't address the issue. There's nothing historical about this depiction of Yasuke. This isn't some shonen anime or game with over the top supernatural elements like a lot of Japan's other references to him. It's meant to be a relatively straight sci-fi/historical take on interesting places around the world and protags were always native to that place, including a native American in the US. This just reeks of devs thinking an all Japanese adventure would be boring so they latched onto and exaggerated the only diversity available to them (that wasn't a dreaded white man, or just another type of Asian coz woke Westerners don't even know how asians see themselves as just as different from each other as blacks and whites do in America). Some of us didn't even like a Brit and an Aussie playing Peter Parker who should be an all American youth. Ditto Tom Hardy playing Mad Max instead of Mel or another Aussie. Geeks used to take pride in our gatekeeping and purist attitudes to what we loved. Now the insincere and inauthentic geekdom that's filtered through political correctness is embarrassing and winds up shilling for the anti-artistic choices of major corporations they claim to hate or be sceptical towards. Also just think, everyone pointing out that Yasuke wasn't trained as samurai is correct... so why not just make him a shinobi? Like maybe he received ninja training in secret which also just fits better with the theme? That wouldn't appease racists (who cares?) but it would at least create plausible deniability about gaps in our knowledge about Yasuke (which is miniscule). But no, critics all racist and bad. No wonder this channel is dying along with all other outlets like it.

Kazma and Majima is not a great bond, very solid with some amazing moments, but their not each others number one bond in that franchise. Someone would try say Haruka to combat the Joel Ellie one and I'd get it but, real Yakzua/LAD know it is the bond between Yakuza and Cop all hail Makoto Date, Kazuma's true best bond - Infinite Wealth confirmed this beyond any doubt. Even if Dates best bond is a helicopter.

While there are obviously some overtly racist discussions happening regarding Assassin's Creed, I do think some of the takes are a bit more nuanced than that. Some people are upset that a game set in Japan is not focusing exclusively on a Japanese protagonist, which I kind of get. It's like if the protagonist of Sekiro was a white dude; I think a lot of people would find that off putting and a bit tone deaf. By giving representation to one minority group, they are sort of taking away the spotlight from another. Either way, I think it'd be way less of an issue if we had more varied protagonists in AAA games to begin with.

This why older AC games will be better. Architectures are atleast way more semi historical and fictional. The same goes for when interacting with historical figures it's an mix of historical with fictional aspects to make it all make sense in the game. While also retaining having the right authenticity and ethnicity for that said location. Game is nothing more than an overpriced heavy revisionist work of garbage. Even the japanese people aren't happy about it

57:42 Sorry Final Fantasy fans but the reason why FF games are not selling is that they look very uninteresting for people who are not fan of the series. And over the years square failed to expand Final Fantasy fan base. Also PS5 does not have small user base anymore. They sold 60 million copies. God of War, Spiderman 2, Horizon Forbidden West sold well at the same userbase. So why FF couldn't? FF7 Rebirth has higher metacritic score than bot Spiderman and Horizon. If 5% of the user base is buying the game I would not really call this platform problem. I think problem is with games and franchise. And the reason why FF14 is so successful is that it is mmo. PC player base love online games and mmos. So I don't think FF main line games are become successful even if they go multiplatform unless they make big change.

God I love trolls. There is someone who posted that they've been an Easy Allies viewer from the beginning. But because Huber supposedly "doesn't care" about "Asian racism" that this is the "last straw" and they can no longer follow Easy Allies. Huber is one of the most accepting people I've ever seen when it comes to video games so for someone to say that he's being racist or discriminatory is outright laughable and I can only assume that individual is intellectually dishonest in their stance or an outright troll.

They instead chose to specifically single out Huber as being dismissive towards "Asian racism". 11:21 OPINION: Shay from Assassin's Creed Rogue is a bad protagonist. He starts out really cool and is appropriately roguish but then makes the dumbest turn to full-on Templar and becomes insufferable throughout. i still think Rogue is a great game and definitely anybody who loves both AC3 & 4 should play Rogue as it's an amalgam of those two games but i still hate Shay. Arno from Unity is a true Rogue fighting against both the Assassins and Templars, he's awesome and Unity in general deserves a lot more love.

@@Emulcool i think Rogue is forgotten because until recently it was stuck on PS3/60 (even though Black Flag was cross gen coming out one year earlier) and released on the same darn day as Unity, a then next-gen exclusive. Rogue is still a great game and perhaps the best looking 30fps game of that generation.

57:40 You're right and IMO FFXVI was a mistake, it was simply way way too dark for the FF fanbase and it did not succeed in expanding the fanbase. FFVII remake series is great and strikes a perfect FF tone but not everyone is a FFVII fan and not everyone is a fan of the changes (I love it), So they still have to accomplish producing another "classic" Final Fantasy that gets fans excited for a long period of time. FFXVI is basically forgotten already, whereas FFXIV keeps going
