Don't be hard on yourself, sometimes in the game they use terms in old Italian (even if italian language did't really exist in those times, it was more of a mixure of latin and vulgar). Using some of those words in present days would be weird and it's probably not the clean italian that you usually learn in classrooms. If you can't understand italian movies that's also normal because of all the dialects we have. Sometimes not even I am able to understand the speech in some places in southern Italy such as Naples, despite italian is my first language! Greetings from Italy!
@farraca7312 жыл бұрын
@@pietro9845 they really did? wow, I always complain how in historical media actors don't speak how they were supposed to in their time period, I find this really surprising since I play this game always in italian and never noticed, even tho is not full antient florentine. thanks for the info

@@farraca731 yeah it's not 100% florentine, but ezio's voice actor even if its not tuscan at all tried to sound more florentine. Also yeah there were some expressions of old italian like "prestatemi orecchio" (literally "lend me your ear") but the whole dialogue is 100% intelligible by a native italian. To experience the true difficulty of old italian regional languages i suggest looking up Dante's comedy the original i mean, it being the nightmare of every high school student ever, expecially the Paradiso

Now THIS is true Italian. You can tell the difference between this and the English dub, in which they were trying to speak some Italian words and emulate its accent (poorly in my opinion). Of course, it's not the dubbers' mother language so I understand if their accent is not accurate, but if you want a more authentic experience (and maybe learn an Italian word or two), I suggest you play the game with settings like in this video, meaning Italian dub and English subtitles.

I mean yo no offense, as much as I like the Italian version as well, very good indeed molto bene, I feel like maybe there could’ve been a more deeper voiced man to be voicing Ezio in his 40s tbh. I feel like the current voice would actually do better when ezio was 17-27 or 17-30, but I feel like imo that giving him more of a deeper voice(if there is such a thing, kinda like Fabio, I feel like that would be a good read for someone like Ezio in his 40s). But yeah it’s still good just could’ve done better with Ezio. I personally think that they nailed Mario’s voice he sounds like the badass uncle you’ve heard about in stories lol
@Kaine8523 жыл бұрын
Ezio in Assassin's Creed II goes through his teen years and adult years in a single game. Unfortunately, while his english VA has range to do both, the dubbers do not, and it's costly to get another VA for Ezio's later years. I'm guessing it's more of the lack of direction than the dub VA's fault for using his young voice all throughout the game.

Ezio never spoke English. He more than likely knew it existed and that it was the language of the English. Beyond that, I doubt he cared about the English language or paid much thought of mind to it. Just another language that he had no use of. The animus directly translates what characters are saying in a foreign language, as it's configured to the native language of either the current user, or the supervisors of the person using the animus (Warren, Lucy, Shawn, Rebecca, whom all spoke English). In their case, they all spoke English, due to their upbringing as either Americans, such as Rebecca/Warren, or English/British, such as Shawn. If they had been raised as Italian nationals instead, none of what Ezio and the others said would have been translated to English, unless Warren and Lucy, in the first game, were overriding it to translate to a language they spoke instead.

@@simpleconcept3698 Nope, tuscan vulgar had some stuff that separated it from latin, tuscan in fact became what now is modern italian
@edoardobiggio64393 жыл бұрын
No dude, if you read il Principe from Machiavelli is quite similar to modern italian, i'm a native italian and it's easily understandable.
@iltoni68953 жыл бұрын
Not at all. Were talking about late 1400s to 1500. The language spoken by Tuscans was the predecessor to modern standard Italian and already a different language from any Latin, in fact that era is when the Italian language was born, after Dante Alighieri's works

You speak this because you are not Italian, in my opinion the Italian version of this scene is better for the meaning of Ezio's phrases, I'm Italian and when I see this scene I prove the emotion that you prove in the English version
@curple33 жыл бұрын
@@giooviixx This is not really a language thing, it's more of the delivery of the actor and who you prefer. For me, i prefer the english and spanish dubs, the italian Ezio sounds like he does at the beginning of the game when he's barely an adult
@yaichi273 жыл бұрын
@@curple3 because you are influenced by your language, as an Italian native speaker I assure you that dubbing is fine. also hearing the English voice actors who try to emulate the Italian speech is pure torture, no accents, all flat and stereotyped

Someone told me ezio hates Catholics what’s your opinion on that
@Kaine8526 жыл бұрын
Ezio never stated that. Rather, he simply mentioned in one of his games (Assassin's Creed II: Discovery I believe) that he's irreligious. During the fist fight with the pope (kzbin.info/www/bejne/gaOZn2ClZteqitE), he and Rodrigo Borgia discuss about religion and gods.

At first I wanted to try this out as well (italian speech with english subtitles) for a better immersion in the game, but then I saw how Ezio sounded in italian and ... it's just not worth it! The english version is way better than this one.
