Yes the ideology of the assassin's and Templar blur as freedom and order were shared by both groups as they adapted into this era where they accept a form of order where freedom is permitted for things like slavery to exist and rights of individuals to be respected. Essentially negative and positive rights. As Achilles famously said. "What's true and what is, aren't always the same."

From the very beginning of the game I knew Conner wasn't going to be able to save his people because history prevents him from doing so.

Yes. By helping found a nation that would choke the potential from it's allies. By founding a nation that served to make the British empire look like a honourable one in comparison. Britain at least gave it's foes the chance to resist. The US lied, cheated and Extorted it's way to the top. So much so that my homeland is it's slave. And just when I though the States couldn't drag Britain through any more filth they use British soldiers to do their dirty work then take the credit for themselves Achilles was albeit indirectly responsible for the Brotherhoods greatest mistake both before and after Shay betrayed them.

CrimsonCarl Haytham wasn't a father at all.
@Max-qb2rw
@Max-qb2rw 6 жыл бұрын
I mean, not exactly. Haytham stayed loyal to the ideals of the Order all his life yes, but from his actions it's clear that his family was important to him. He went against Reginald Birch (The British Templar Grand Master and his supposed mentor) when he learned that it was Birch who had his father killed and sold his sister into slavery. He killed a senior member of the Order for family. Then with Connor - despite being on opposing sides - he tried to work with him, convince him of the potential good of the Order. Killing him would have been quicker and even rid the Templars of a major threat, but he couldn't. It was Haytham who saved Connor at his execution when the Assassins couldn't quite get to him, despite this putting Charles Lee at risk and allowing Connor to stop Hickey from killing Washington - the Templars' big plot. Even in that final fight at Fort George, it seems certain that Haytham let Connor kill him, by deliberately removing his hand away from Connor's Hidden Blade and goading him. He could have killed his son, ended the destruction of the Order in America and achieved the Templars' plans - but he couldn't kill his own child. Haytham was never the best father - with his upbringing in the Order it's no surprise he wasn't exactly warm and supportive - but he still cared about his son (and the rest of his family); it was his major undoing in fact. He still may have died a Templar but it can't be said he was a coward or that he sacrificed family.

Achilles' Perspective: Achilles's story is great because his perspective is extremely realistic and relatable and logical. He feels so defeated and beaten down after not only losing his family but watching the genocide of the entire Assassin Order and watched them all be completely eradicated and wiped out by Shay and the rest of the Templars throughout the entire Colonies. He watched and witnessed as the Templars destroyed everything the Assassins had. It makes so much sense that he has lost his belief in the Assassins because he now sees it as an unwinnable fight. The Templars are so strong and powerful and have overwhelming numbers and resources that there is just no possible way to beat them. This perfectly explains why he is so pessimistic and against Connor becoming an Assassin. He discourages Connor from fighting against them and encourages him to just submit because it's logically the safer and more peaceful option. He now believes that it is better to just stop the constant fighting and killing, and just submit to the Templars because the conflict is just a pointless waste of life. He now believes personal survival and preservation of life is more important than fighting for the freedom of humanity, which very much shows how Achilles has given in and submitted to the Templars. He also sees and understands how the Templar vs Assassin conflict is neverending because new Templars and new Assassins are always being born and no matter how many Templars the Assassins kill and vice versa, there is no possible way to defeat them completely. The series has pointed out so many times that you can kill all the people in the world but you can't kill an idea and you can't prevent future generations of people from coming to believing it. This all ties in perfectly to Connor's speech about comprise and how the Assassins and Templars fighting eachother all the time is pointless and redundant because logically there's no end to it, and the best and smartest thing to do is to comprise with eachother and learn to tolerate eachother's differences and find a way to make peace and live together without fighting. This is literally the ENTIRE point and and explains the purpose of why Politics and Governments exist in real life and it all ties in perfectly with the setting of the newly founded America creating it's new government and political system. I love all of this so much there is much great writing going on here.

Let's all face it, Connor represents the basis of what laid underneath our youth: We all had dreams and goals but reality often changes the course of these aspirations for the world is different and unique in mind, soul, vision, and power. None of us ever has NOT made a mistake in our lives. Some of us have chosen to give up like Achilles and wallow away, Some of us have chosen to change paths like Shay and accept the choices we have made, Some of us have accepted reality like Haytham and work in it however we can because life isn't easy, Some of us have seen fame and Glory like Adewale and lost countless friends to it but continue on to the end, Some of us have been Edward and realized that our ambitions can hurt us and changed before it was too late. Those who are like Connor are many because we too have lost friends who we thought were our friends. We have lost family like our mothers and the pain is still there. We have hoped to reconcile and change our parents who are like Haytham. Connor does represent our generation because not one of us has ever been truly right or wrong. We just make it up as we go. Any plans we have never go according to plan, but we have hope and faith that it does. Act as you wish, but remember that you are human and no less nor more fallible than the next person. Connor is well written because he relates to our younger selves.

When I first saw Achilles in AC 3 I was taken in by his story and how it seemed that he was a soldier who fought hard but lost everything I actually felt sad when he died. Then when I go through the events of AC Rogue I realize that his actions where what caused all of this. If he had listened to Shay instead of automatically assuming that he is a traitor then all this would have been avoided. I think in AC 3 he realizes this and tries to teach Connor not to do the same mistakes but at the same time using Connor to get revenge on the Templars for him not even caring about their good intentions the Templars actually had. When he died he took comfort in the fact that his last student had been the one to avenge the Assassins and would eventually found the new American Assassins chapter.

TheMegaUzumaki They wanted to stop the war which was innocent claiming lives. Sure Charles Lee was mostly racist and crazy, Thomas Hickey was a mercenary who only wanted money, booze and women and most of the colonial and American templars owned slaves and did terrible things but... People like Haytham Kenway, William Johnson, George Munroe, John Pitcairn and Shay Cormac were good decent people compared to the rest. They genuinely wanted to do some good for the people. Go see their entries on AC wiki and their death confessions as well as videos about them and you will see.

"Good intentions" is stretching it a bit. The Templars spoke with velvety tongues and sharp wit but at the end of the day, they all want to strip humanity of what makes them... well, human. William Johnson talked about protecting the Natives before threatening to kill them for not selling their land. John Pitcairn started a war while claiming he was about to make peace with the Patriots at Bunker Hill, and Haytham's ultimate goal was to turn America into a glorified concentration camp. Oh, and let's not forget Shay himself, who claimed to not harm anymore innocents after the Lisbon earthquake, but then kickstarted the French Revolution which indirectly makes him responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocents.

Achillies is basically the Yoda of the Story. Liam is the Obi-Wan who died trying to stop his friend, Aveline is Princess Leia, Edward is Han, Adewale is Mace, Shay is Anakin and Connor is Luke. Yoda failed Anakin, and through him, he paid the price of his arrogance and blindness, now he has a chance anew. This is something you never warned me of, maybe because you thought I would have been deterred - you would have been wrong but I know you we not accustomed to that. Life carries on here. The people seem happy - they are certainly safe, at least for now. One of my brotherhood asked me something I have been struggling with, what happens if - when- we win? When we stop the Templars? It is a question I certainly do not know the answer to, perhaps you did not either. I miss you. As I miss my mother. I hope all is well with you, whever you are. Or did he do so because he believed in Connor, that Connor will bring the Brotherhood back and pick up where he had failed.

Maybe he saw Potential which Shay comac don’t have (Assassin Traitor from AC Rogue) And also he saw him similarities of Shay but pure and moral so I guess ge decided to train him as Assassin Achilles was trained by Mayan Assassin Ah Tabai you know Adéwale’s mentor so no racial discrimination for me
