Finally someone gets it. My ex used to say gaming has no value of any kind and I am wasting my time playing the games. She never understood what you just described. I love history because of ac. Excellent video man. You have earned yourself a sub.

It's shocking how fully formed AC1 was. Most of the mechanics that defined Ezio trilogy were all in place. It's a bare bones game but the bones were extremely solid and easily held up the fully fledged sequel that is AC2.

I've definitely got a soft spot for AC1. Yeah it's wonky and repetitive but it was fresh and fun. The later games refined the systems and people can argue about the stories until the world ends, but there were bones in that first one that were obviously solid. I'm a huge Horizon fan, and that maybe wouldn't have been the same game without it. It definitely deserves respect.

I find Assassin's Creed connection to Tomb Raider actually very fascinating. Because AC1 was very much inspired by the Tomb Raider games of the era. Tomb Raider Legend had just come out the year before. Which means most of AC's TR influence was from the Classic games of Tomb Raider. But then Tomb Raider turns around in its 2013 reboot and uses that era AC as some of its inspiration as well. and i think its neat.

AC1 is easily the best game in the franchise. No idea why people liked 2 and Ezio so much, both felt like a major downgrade.
@sundalangur32503 күн бұрын
While I personally think AC1 is better than a lot of people remember, saying AC2 was a downgrade when it literally refined everything about AC1 is certainly an opinion. "To each his/her own" I always say.

@@sundalangur3250 My main issue was how they smoothed out the parkour. It would often lead me to climbing or jumping in areas I didn't want it to because it thought I was trying to do something I wasn't. I'm used to it now, but it put a sour taste in my mouth back then. I also just think Ezio is kind of an asshole

AC1 is still my favourite of the series. ACII might have been more refined mechanically, but Ezio was a dick. Altair was much more my speed, as a character. After that, they kept bolting on minigames and activities like the Brotherhood management stuff (which was all the more disappointing for its use of an Animus interface rather than something diagetic), and by the time Odyssey rolled around I just didn't have the time to sink into something so utterly, overwhelmingly big.
@vvevv884 күн бұрын
If you haven't gotten around to Odyssey, it's still one of the most memorable gaming experiences I've ever had. Aside from Dragon's Dogma it's the closest thing you can get to actually playing The Illiad.

Another one of Jock Tamson’s Bairns… we get everywhere It was my cousin had the first AC. He was C64, PC and XBox whilst I was C64, Amiga and PSOne and as good as all those machines were, it was the look of AC that blew me away. Nothing that I was aware of looked that good. It was great to play a game that didn’t have you as a cartoon duck, a blue blob or a car made entirely of right angles I fell in love with Ezio’s adventures that totally hooked me and, what’s more, I could play them. I thought the story, though far fetched, had a story you were interested in. I’ve always loved Roman and Greek history so, when Odyssey dropped, I was on it like a car bonnet. I loved it though it was a game I felt was great as the adventures of a Spartan rather than an Assassin’s Creed story: the Animus storyline pulled me from the immersion. I love studying the Viking era too, especially as they were the first invaders to take Dumbarton Castle, so I was desperate for Valhalla but, again, the Animus stuff was unnecessary and the game was too disjointed, there was too much padding, very much in the way R* pad out their games, with long, unnecessary travel. I found Mirage a disappointment. I get what they were going for, but it was the wrong step back for me.

AC really shouldn’t present itself as historically accurate. Painted themselves into a pointless corner there…it’s just a game franchise. Go and have fun in whatever time period or place they decide to stick it. Assassins Creed ORANGES! 😂
@timotmon4 күн бұрын
I don't think they ever claimed to be historically accurate. It's a science fiction game at it's core. Somewhere along the line people started demanding that it adhere to their standard of "historical accuracy" so when it didn't work out in their opinions they flip their lids.

I loved the game at first but gave up halfway through because it run poorly. It was on ps3 and I couldn't get it online for the patch. Later I play AC2(didn't love it) and brotherhood(better) and revelations(probably the best until odyssey), so after falling in love with revelation I went back to this first one and play it again appreciating it way more than the first time(no freezes, infinite loading screen or slowdowns after the patches). It had a certain charm that got lost in the sequels. My interest in playing it again rose after mirage but it's hard to access the game on current platforms
