The more literal translation of "Nothing is true, everything is permitted" is "Nothing is absolute, everything is possible". Means, Everything in the world we live in meant to change, thus, anything can occur and nothing can stay the same. Which is historically how Hassan Sabbah founded the world first Assassin order. Both in real life and in AC verse.

Despite never playing Revelations, this quote has lived in my head subconsciously ever since I played 2. Throughout my life, I've seen and learned of patterns in society & history that used to terrify me, leaving me existential and afraid for my place in the world. But as I grew older, I began to realize that life itself is not chaotic in the way I used to think it was. It certainly is chaotic, but beautifully so. Throughtout our existence, we have danced the same dances, fought the same battles, raised & destroyed countless empires countless times, yet we keep moving. Its fitting that AC is so well known for parkour, because it fits with the ideals of the Assassin's. We always move forward, adapting to whatever comes our way, and never letting any walls stop us from achieving our goals. We may stumble, fall, even leap feet first into a combat encounter we were trying to avoid because of wonky controls at times, but we always keep moving. Keep Moving Forward, for Nothing is True and Everything is Permitted.

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted. To say that nothing is true is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. It hold second truth too...... We need this "Nothing is true. Everything is permitted" idea in our mind to certain degree. Because all forms of law are form of brainwashing. If we don't have free mind we become absorbed into force of authorities. It makes people mindless and ignorant Even the most moral law, can work as brainwashing. It is still rooted in fear and authorities that have power over you. Something like that always dulls free thinking to a certain degree and make us absorbed into force of authorities. One day policeman might arrest dangerous criminal, the other day he might got rid of person who is simply not comfortable for the corrupted government. Law might be moral on paper, but it still gives power to authorities. It still dulls free thinking and make people absorbed into force of authorities. Templars know it and use it against society. Even in modern era where we have much more fair law than before they use it. Even though constitution says something, their authoritarian force to make people brainwashed and mindless. If we won't have "Everything is permitted" belief in our minds, we will lack free thinking and become absorbed into authorities. Even if law is necessary, we also need to know that is always a form of brainwashing. We need to have certain belief in absolute freedom, otherwise we will get brainwashed by authorities.

What is the Truth? We place faith in ourselves; we see the world the way it really is, and hope that, one day, all mankind might see the same. What is the world, then? An illusion. One which we can either submit to; as most do, or transcend. What is it to transcend? To recognize nothing is true, and everything is permitted. That laws arise, not from divinity, but reason. I understand now that our creed does not command us to be free; it commands us to be wise. I believe those are Altair's words. These words, this creed will stay with me.
@guilhermezan10 жыл бұрын
Despite being just a game, the history and consistency of the Creed fits in our reality nowadays, as well as these words and teachings. As Einstein said one time: "Wisdom is not a product of scholarship, it is a longwhile attempt to acquire it." Never stop learning, never be tied in illusions, never believe in the common... the Assassin's Order is suposed to bring justice, peace, order and the real truth... pity it's just a fiction.

Guilherme Totoli Zanetti But what if it's not. What if the Templars made up the franchise to make us believe that secret organizations fighting behind the scenes of history is pure fiction. Now that this franchise is out and internationally known, no one can go on about secret organizations and shit like that and be taken seriously; people will just go "You play too much Assassin's Creed."

Seriously guys, did you hear one thing from this lesson? Truth is all but true, foundations which we describe, even in such argument makes us doubt or worse - make cocksure of it. But truth is... we will never know all truth and even then, actually, we still might know nothing. Platon said: "Only thing I know for sure, is that I don't know anything". Don't flame or argue over such issues - it creates walls between us. Don't believe in one truth - your opponent is not entirely correct, nor are you. Rather than take everything in sarcastic and doubtful manner, take everything as a shard of truth. You will never make perfect picture of the world(in every sense of it) but I believe that we will never be given such present. "Nothing is true, everything is permitted" - Remember these words whenever conflict arises.

The Termplar code : Where other men fall prey to the temptations of their own desires , remember : 'Nothing is Permitted'. Where other men blindly believe in the good will of the people ,tell them : "Everything is true". Explanation : To say that nothing is permitted is to understand that we can transcend our own humanity and weaknesses. Because other people are still weak and society is fragile we tell them what is true to guide them into order.
@matnicholson94698 жыл бұрын

imagine how things would be though if the assassins and templars actually...worked together. Think. They fight because of the most petty differences in how they work, yet the things they do, how they work, is so much alike, it's practically the same. They kill, try for power in some of the most controversial of ways, and all they want is peace and freedom of man, woman and child. Sure, it would be dull if they finally stopped being stupid and got along, but the world would be FOLDS better than if just one side won. think about it...
@Phoenixheart779 жыл бұрын
Henry Dotson But Templars will not give up the chance to control. And assassin's will not give it to them. Um, the Assassin's Order doesn't have only 5 people, there are hundreds of assassin's. These assassins (Ezio,Altair,Connor and Edward) are main because they "did the impossible" and the most amazing things for AC Order, of course costing them EVERYTHING.(This was only to tell you that there are many more assassins, e.g. the video showed Aveline,a cool female assassin who helped for the slavery to come to an end :) )
