*If you want to know the truth about what happened to "Assassin's Creed", read this please* : During the development of AC Brotherhood, Ubisoft approached Patrice Desilets (the maker of AC and a worker at UBI since PoP 1) to demand yearly releases for AC since it was selling very well (10m copies AC1 - PoP 3m) Patrice, working in Gaming out of passion and not greed, refused. The result was that they fired him after 20 years of work.Every other AC that came after AC Brotherhood felt "different" or "lacking" something and that's SOUL, that's what it's lacking. Patrice went on to his own studio, working on a spiritual successor to AC called 1666: Amsterdam (there is a YT trailer) but guess what happened, UBI bought his studio and acquired the IP then fired Desilets. It was a threat to AC since it was made by the man who brought their cash cow to life. It took years of legal battle to get the assets back but now they are outdated and UBI has sunk its teeth too deep in AC's neck to change anything about it. AC 3, AC 4, ROGUE, UNITY etc, they're NOT CANON. They're either spin offs or shadows of the true AC. Before you say that it's just an opinion, the ORIGINAL author was fired. Imagine Game Of Thrones without George RR Martin. How would that be? Oh wait no need to imagine, just go watch the show post George's direction. It's being called bad fanfiction, that's what AC post Ezio is, FANFICTION. The original author was ousted, with him went Jasper Kyd, Jade Raymond and so on. Every other AC that came after Rev was an amateur chef trying to replicate the recipe as right possible. Yet they all miss the point, it's not about the profit or the rentability it's about the process, the passion, and that is gone with Desilets.

Zack fair Actually AC3, AC4 and rouge were his original stories. But things were definitely changed. I don't think desmond was supposed to die, that shit was random as fuck lol. Also the AC4/Origins team is the only development team left from the old days. Desilets was asked what he thought about unity and syndicate and he basically shitted on them. He was mad about AC3s ending so i'm guessing that was what ubisoft changed. I think ac4 was supposed to end the series.

SPOILER ALERT!!!! I dont know how many people actually observed this, but Ubisoft is secretly developing some sort of a story associated with the earliest of Assassin's. This has been done twice now. If anyone can remember, In ACII Ezio's uncle had a mansion in Monteriggioni. The mansion had an underground chamber which six statues of legendary assassins who turned the course of history according to Uncle Mario. That's the place where we got ultimate Altair's armour. Among those 6 statues, there was one called Amunet which turns out be Aya, Bayek's wife from AC Origins. There was another statue that of Darius, the first ever assassin to wield a hidden blade. That's what we are getting in the first dlc. Now, the fun part is Aya had a Greek origin. The hidden blade that she gave to Bayek is the one that Darius used to use. Somehow, Cleopatra got her hands on that gave it to Aya for security. So Darius's hidden blade passed on for centuries and eventually ended up in Bayek's hands. The other four statues were of Iltany, Wei Yu, Qulan Gal and Leonius. So we may expect these characters somewhere in the future AC games. There is definitely a reason why Ubisoft is going so far back in time to explain the origin of brotherhood, the first civilisation weapons, etc. The rpg stuff could have been done with 18th-19th century backdrops as well. They are cooking up something big. Obviously even after this, fools will just shout and say, "This isn't Assassin's Creed". What people fail to realise, the lore of Assassin's creed is not just about hoods and hidden blades and a young Italian playboy turning into an assassin. There is a lot more to it than that. We should be happy that Ubisoft is exploring the untold parts of the lore.

namelessnoodleboy Yes, he is. Coz, when Uncle Mario takes Ezio to the basement chamber where the statues are located, Ezio asks his uncle about the statues. Mario says that these are the statues of the most important assassins ever in history as they changed the shape of both the brotherhood and history. They have also done some incredible things to prevent the Templars from dominating.

All these salty ass people talking about this isnt an assassins creed game need to realize that if it didnt evolve it would basically have become another call of duty, the same game every time with just some minor tweaks that eventually gets stale and only manages to sell big cause of the casual market. With all the hate yall throwing at Odyssey and Origins, it makes it seem like yall want ubisoft to give yall cash grab games with little substance in terms of gameplay. Yeah it has little to do with the previous games in terms of gameplay, but thats good, i got tired of "smash this button repeatedly in order to kill someone" after ac3 to the point where i would intentionally get high wanted levels until i was surrounded by the jagers which were the toughest enemies in the game in order to have fun with the combat.

The name "Assassins Creed" doesn't have to imply there's an element of the Creed in there (more likely this is the origins of the templars), its more about the adventure, combat and exploration of an Assassins Creed game. This is very much still Assassins Creed, the further they stay away from the traditional Creed stuff is good in my book. I've been a fan since 2007 and I can't wait to play this.

Desiree Kabwe I love the Witcher 3, one of my favourite games of all time and one of the only open world games to have such detail, incredible story and and characters and so many quality side quests. Just wrapped up Origins last DLC today, really excited for Odyssey. I actually didn’t know about the exploration mode feature, and I think I’m gonna do that, the way I played Origins was kind of clearing the locations in each section before moving to the side and main quests, this should make it a bit more of a challenge and hold some surprises hopefully.

I think this is the right way for Ubisoft to go full rpg on the franchise. TBH, i lost interest in AC after Unity, to make it worst I'm playing it after I finished The Witcher 3. Its not because of lore, its because of repeatable boring gameplay. Still not play AC syndicate to this day. If origin caught my attention, then Odyssey will better the AC origin and looks almost comparable to The Witcher 3. I think i will enjoy playing it. Pre-Ordered

Idk see how sneaking around places, assassinating people using bows and hidden blades. Getting intel by conversation or notes and puzzles. Is not AC! You're still an assassin they are just adding more elements. Open world games need content in them or they get boring.

Chocobirdy Edward - A pirate who only cares about himself throughout most of the game, until he joins the Creed to "absolve" himself, then he gets most of them killed and leaves. The creed is pretty much never mentioned again. Jacob and Evie Frye - Jacob couldn't care less about the creed if it's even mentioned, and Evie is only strictly following her dead father's basic rules. They're just sneaky gang leaders with hidden blades who are "supposed" to be in the Creed Arno Dorian - Actually has a lot of the Creed in it but nobody even played the game because it was so poorly done Shay Cormac - Templar The problem with your argument is that anything I say that emphasizes AC's lack of identity, you could just point at things and say "look, that's AC!" because at this point an Assassin's Creed game is just an open world horse simulator where you stab people. Time period, characters, context, and even gameplay a lot of the time is thrown out the window. As long as they have a hidden blade and they use it, it's an Assassin's Creed game. You could make "Assassin's Creed Karting" and as long as the main character stabs people without being seen, "I don't see how it's not AC!" Also, nowhere do you get intel by conversation, notes and puzzles, and it's an extremely basic storytelling tool which isn't specific AC so I don't know where that came from

You're not an Assassins in this game you're a mercenary (which is why I love how they put the choice of being able to play like on a full on warrior or my preferred play style Assassin/Hunter). Most likely especially with the Hidden Blade DLC you'll be interacting with proto Assassins (especially Darius).

Assassins Creed Odyssey looks and sounds incredible! AC2 and Brotherhood were the best. I hate what happened to Desmond in 3...I really was expecting them to go to present day as Desmond and explore more of the bleeding effect as he tried to stop Minerva. The gameplay In 3 as Desmond was great and I was seriously hoping for more. I don’t know if I can jump back in after the story of 3. I loved the series up to that point. This looks amazing and I want to try it,but I’m still waiting for the modern day AC.

Most guys here talking shit on people who say this is not an Assassin's Creed game, saying that the franchise must change some aspects and stuff. But lets be honest. What made assassin's creed assassin's creed? First of all, the stealth, the operating in the shadows to serve in the light, the assassin's creed itself as a cult, the conflict between assassins and templars, all of that has been taken away to replace it with some RPG stuff that makes no sense in the lore whatsoever. As you all know, the animus lets you relive the memories of a person, not alter them. I mean, with the dialogue choosing option they are shitting on the fact that canonically speaking, its always been about reliving memories, not shaping them in a certain way to fit your playstyle because that would be plain stupid and it would change all we know about how the animus works. Also, as you may know the history of oddysey goes way back before the founding of the brotherhood (which takes place in origins), therefore what assassins creed aspects can we expect fron the story? How will they tie up the plot to make it fit in the assassins creed lore? It seems to me that they dont give a fuck about it, but i really hope i am wrong. I truly think this would be an awesome game if they took the "assassins creed" from the title, cause as i have said before, it just isnt that. Though things have to change, the franchise should have never gone too far from its roots, forgetting all that made it the assassins creed games we all remember and love. The new course this games have taken have made them diverge into something totally different, something we did not ask for. Stop cryingabout sth "not making snese because of the Animus". The whole Animus doesnt make sense. If you relive memories, why are u able to control the person then? Where is the difference between controlling his movement and controlling his dialogue? The whole Anmius story is pretty half assed and makes no sense in a video game. in origins it was said that Laylas Animus broke the rules of the original Animus developed by Abstergo its why she could live Bayeks memories even though shes not related to him in one of the tombs the FC Obelisk says her Animus can twist the past. Thats why we can do this the difference between hers and the normal Animus at least how I understand it hopefully they will explain more

I preordered Pantheon édition the day the game was announced ^^ well more or less. Ah yes, Assassin's Creed, the famous stealth series where you can kill-streak and instant counter kill dozens of enemies by yourself in straight combat. The stealth series that didn't even have a crouch button until Unity. Truly, the lack of focus on Stealth in ACOD makes it no longer an Assassin's Creed game.

I do like the new combat system that ubisoft came out with in origins and now seems like odyssey, although i would like to see that when you swing down that the enemy actually goes down rather than coming straight back up. But sometimes the small bugs in the game are the hardest to fix.

I’m happy to hear exploration mode has hints!! Thank the Lawd!!! My fav game off all time is Witcher3, BUT, if I had to find a issue with it, it’s the game almost ALWAYS thinks you know exactly where to go. I mean I understand, a guest giver might not know where to go exactly. But sometimes I found myself asking, “if this missing person is so damn important, how do you not have AT LEAST a last known location or somewhere to start!?!” But that aside, I am excited to try this out. But I wish they would have tuned in the combat, not so arcade. Also, it seems they fixed the dodge issue from Origins, I am hoping. Meaning the longer I hold, or press consecutively, the bigger the distance I am making (in Origins, your biggest side step/dodge was the first press, making the others pretty useless, IMO). Last but not least, another immersion breaking mechanic I pray I can turn off, is the weapon trail. That white/red/orange glow to follow the weapon after every swing!! Ugh! Idk why, but I hate it, it’s got some jagged edges and just looks HORRIBLE! Idk, maybe this is just me, and I could work trough it, but every time I see it, It just breaks immersion for me. I do not mind the arrows having it, so you can have some way of following, but the hand held weapons, thanks Ubi, but I got it lol!
