The song about the lost shield is actually an ancient greek poem written by Archilochus a mercenary soldier/poet / adventurer much like alexios and kassandra who was from paros(the rival island of naxos in the game where u help ur mother) and became a mercenary to escape poverty and for adventure just like we left kephalonia for adventure!!, I can only imagine that the rest of the songs must have some deep history as well,this game has so much detail and depth!!

The music in this game is sooo great. It helps with the immersion a lot. I fell in love with Odyssey when I was riding on horseback on this country road, the golden morning sunshine streaming through between the trees, and some beautiful, mysterious background music was playing with a woman humming a soft tone. Amazing.

Pretty amazing when you think that modern native english speakers can barely understand old english spoken less than a 1000 years ago. Also, I see some word roots common with other european languages, like "pino" and slavic "pit'" for "to drink". Can clearly see some common indoeuropean roots here.

@@viragerdei1601 pronunciation of modern and ancient greek is mostly the same and is proven... the only exception could be the letter B/V which is debabted... also we know how to pronounce letters that dont exist in modern greek like the "c" known as "stigma"....the problem of the songs is not the pronunciation of modern Greek which is the same to ancient Greek... but the english undertone from the first song.. that's the problem

@@codafett They are VASTLY different. Ancient Greek is far more complex than Modern Greek, and its Grammar and Syntax are a nightmare, even for us. And that's just the standard Ancient Greek, older versions like Linear B goes to alien language levels. Other than that, we can more or less make out the general gist of it by reading or hearing.

Actually the Polinesian war was also an age of piracy. The word "pirate" goes back on the greek word "pírates" , piracy was very common . Oddyseus himself, was a pirate, when he was on his way to troy, plundering towns and islands.

look im from greece and i have played this game and all of these music from these days are incredeble and amazing that thery putted exremly correct greek words and the althbet is absoloutly correct!

I have for most of my life wondered how greek sounds, i knew i heard it after all i have been to athens, but i just wasn't a ustom to it and i was most focused about the greece then ppl, but after i have played odyssey I am going to learn atleast a1 greek just for my self, coz it sounds amazing
