It's so sad how little love Alexios gets. I played as him and had a really fun time! Even though Kassandra sounds more authentic and natural, I absolutely love Alexios' entonation and way of saying lines. He may come off as smuggish or egotistic, but that's all a part of the vibe he brings. If you want a more comical, self-righteous hero-like tale you should defintely go for Alexios. If you want a more serious, down to earth experience then Kassandra is most likely for you.

@@bigbootyanime3630 I played the whole game as Alexios the first time. Now, I'm going back and playing as Kassandra. Although I've defended Michael Antonakos' performance a lot, I have to confirm that Melissanthi Mahut's performance is far more deep, nuanced and multi-faceted. She feels like more of a real person than Alexios. However, I absolutely disagree when people say that the voice actor for Alexios is shit. Most people see a few clips and decide he's a weaker actor when he's clearly just going for a different personality than Kassandra. I'll admit, going back and seeing Alexios' line delivery after spending a few hours with Kassandra was jarring. But he absolutely grows on you. They really are very distinct characters. It isn't just male or female. I think it makes the game very replayable.

As a person who only started couple months ago and played as Alexios, his voice is underrated. I loved the fact that he has actual intonation with his sarcasm, and even in emotional moments it still sounds fine. I just think Kassandra sounds too monotone/boring as the protagonist, I loved her as Deimos, she gives a genuinely psychotic vibe while Alexios just has pure aggression. It's each to their own but personally I think Kassandra as the protagonist is quite overrated

I started with playing as Kassandra and personally Alexios as Deimos terrifies me but that's actually probably because he reminds me of my biological father. Definitely not in looks, but mannerisms. In fact when Alexios Deimos started slamming that Cult member's face into the pyramid artifact thingy it reminded me of when I witnessed the sperm donor abuse his girlfriend in front of me. Alexios Deimos is so well done that he digs up trauma in me.💀

I couldn't agree more, pity Kassandra is the canon, she is not that expresive when she says her lines, for example, when she says "with what money?" she doesn't sound outraged whereas Alexios does!, thank god AC Mirage is going to have a set protagonist, I don't care if it is a man or a woman, pick a character Ubisoft and go with it , or maybe do it like AC Syndicate (I liked Evie Frye more than Jacob by the way) is not about gender is about the performance, Kassandra reminds me of Connor, very bland. PS: Making one of the character you don't choose at the start of the game the main villain is just weird O.o

She has a smoother and more natural delivery, like an actual conversation. I’ve been playing for a couple of weeks and although there are times the dialogue choices are disjointed, even for her, it’s a writing issue more than her delivery. I can listen to her all day.

It happens nearly every time you ask for information.. they number the lines and if feel they should've recorded it in that order.. stil not the best autcome if you ask them in the wrong order but you typically go from top to bottom anyhow.. This is partially what i was afraid of when they intrduced choices, As a feature I like it.. gives the game more replayability and diversion but at the same time - if done wrong - can take away from story telling, Tho this is their first time, so perhaps next time is better. since the AC storry telling, usually, is fairly good. I also like kassandra more.. Alexios.. sunds like all brawl no brain character.

Hendrik visch Bioware was a little better at the Paragon vs Renegade answers.. but even then you would find yourself yelling at the t.v. saying, “That’s not what I meant!” But those were actual choices, these are more like dialogue prompts. I like Kassandra’s characterization a lot too. She’s been compared to Xena.. which isn’t necessarily a bad thing 🤓😏

Who should I play as then? Cause an annoying voice is going to affect how much i like the game. Spartans are only male so it doesn't make sense to be kassandra but her voice is clear, and doesnt have a thick accent with a over adeepened voice. I guess i could be wonder woman

Spartans weren’t only men. When you look into the actual history, Spartan men treated Spartan women more equally than any other nation or city-state at the time. The men were brought up for war, yes, but the women were often put through similar training g so they could birth strong kids. The men had little to no problem committing fully to war because: 1: that’s what they were raised to do and 2: the women left behind were more than capable of running and protecting the city-state while they were gone. In fact, there were quite a few Athenian proverbs around Spartan women, mostly about how fierce they were or how difficult it was for an Athenian male to “handle” her. Don’t forget that Sparta was one of the very few city-state were a woman could actually own property/slaves/businesses. This ability to keep things moving smoothly (domestic and on campaigns) was one of the reasons Sparta was, largely, feared.

This is a great video, but the thing i think it shows off the most is the face acting. The character expressions and facial reactions are pretty damn good. And not just the protagonists, the npcs seem pretty damn solid too. Little things like that help with engagement so much. Nice work Ubi!

Alexios sounds more angry with Markos while Kassandra sounds more like she's talking to a friend But then again alexios sounds more threatening which I think fits the mercanary role better And then Kassandra sounds more calm in fights which fits for someone who has been in many fights But when they are the bad guy it's flipped

If you want a more down to earth story experience, pick Kassandra. If you want to play as a fantasy action hero, pick Alexios. There's no wrong way, they're both great, and there's even a new game plus option in case you want to play the other character. I have a personal preference to Alexios mainly because I enjoy the fantasy action hero experience more.

I agree 100%. When I started playing as Alexios, it wasn't a great time. I didn't like his voice acting, but I stuck it out and the more you play, the better it gets. In an interview the VA talked about how difficult it was to record for something like this with the different dialogues and jumping around while to remember emotion, so it's almost like the more he did it, the better he got. Which makes sense! Plus I really loved Kassandra as Deimos. So playing as Alexios is definitely my preferred method.

Yes! I felt he has more character in his delivery, though I can see how that felt forced to some, to me it was more engaging and wasn't over-acted. As an example the "help yourself" to Phoebe by Alexios is sarcastic which gave colour to his relationship with Phoebe, making Phoebe look cheeky, whereas Kassandra delivered it flatly so it's just a neutral gesture of provision, without character. And you can't beat Alexios's "malaka!". I think Kassandra is a better Deimos, too, from this clip - she has a good seething voice lol.

I personally enjoyed Alexios voice better. It reminded me of the great 80's movies I grew up watching. Sinbad and the Seven Seas, Jason and the Agonaughts , even Kevin Sorbo in Hercules, to Lorenzo Lamas, also I love Alexios hairstyle ( The Greek cornroll with Beads 🔥) Also I think Alexios gets a bad rap, because his Accent is much thicker then Kassandra's. So for some that can be a turn off, but it doesn't mean the voice actor isn't trying to convey emotion. But Kassandra is also great, but I enjoyed Alexios voice much better. Also if we're being authentic, Alexios accent is a lot more on point to the Greek Accent then Kassandra's (My Wife is Greek). But Kassandra is smoother in the delivery.

I'd have to disagree with you there, as someone who is Greek and grew up with a lot of people who spoke with accents, Kassandra's is much more authentic, especially with the pronunciation of the Greek words. In most cases she has a pretty typical accent. The voice actress of Kassandra herself is fluent in Greek, and Alexios speaks basic so it makes sense.

VirtualGorilla Gotta disagree with you there. I am half cast Greek and my Uncle who is full Greek sounds exactly like Alexios. While his voice is a bit more gruff in some lines his voice acting is spot on. The VA for Alexios is also full Greek. While the VA for Kassandra is half Greek and half Canadian. Michael the VA for Alexios is full Greek and born and raised in Greece while Mahut the VA for Kassandra was born in Greece and raised in Canada. If you are truly Greek you can hear the authenticity.

Alexios sounds like someone who's down on his luck who knows his own worth and that he's meant for great things. I like it. It's proud but comical as well. I choose Alexios because they actually took a risk on his voice acting. Does he once in a while sound a bit over acted? Sure. But the way he emphasizes certain words as well as displays facial expressions and body motion seem far more memorable and unique. For some reason the cyclops scene is not featured in this video, but I enjoyed Alexios's mocking and playful tone much more than Kassandra's serious and annoyed tone. I also liked the way Alexios seemed genuinely offended when he turns around after the thugs call him out when he's sitting on his roof, whereas with Kassandra... you can't really see any emotion at all. To me yes Kassandra sounds smoother than Alexios, but her boring attitude, cardboard expressions, and lack of distinguishing linguistics make her a very forgettable protagonist because they took zero risks with her and played it completely by the book.

In all honesty, I started with Kassandra because duh. And the scene with the cult is WAY better with Alexios as the villain. His voice and delivery seems a lot better and better suited for that role. Kassandra has a softer more natural voice which again works well as the main character, not the other way around. So it seems that is what the developers had in mind? Not sure but it is definitely better acted on both parts if you play as Kassandra. Which is a shame, as I feel way more badass as Alexios. Hopefully his delivery gets better as I play further into the story with him, but will probably finish the game with Kassandra first.

If you are looking for a full Greek experience of the game Kassandra is the true way to go accent is way better on her at almost 90-95 % Greek on the other hand alexios is sitting at around 70-75% this coming from a Greek guy.

I've finished the main quest at level 49 , and i have to say , that Alexios Voice Acting is really good and spot on . It has an authenticly Greek accent , delivers greatly all the emotions on the spectrum ( most of the time) . Haven't played Kassandra yet.

@@waryemezez3369 Exactly. Although, I still prefer Kassandra because there I can't stand the thought of antagonist Kassandra. It just doesn't suit her. Also, there are some of the scenes (such as ones in this video) where Alexios can be as good or even better than Kassandra. Kassandra has better face animations which you will realize as you progress further in the story.

I mean, this was pretty much established even with the earliest previews of the game. Melissanthi Mahut's performance as Kassandra is just more "alive". [[SPOILER WARNING]] And the fact that Alexios has a gruff and less vibrant delivery works great as the semi-antagonist when you play as Kassandra.

maybe body model wise, I haven't noticed anything off from her movements compared to mine but *shrug* but either way it's her voice acting and her dialogue that does it really. There are very little differences to the dialogue but the delivery really makes the character... The voice actor did an amazing job!

I feel it's not so much only a voiceacting issue but also, maybe a face animation as well? I feel Kassandra's face animation are way more fluid, realistic and match the voice whereas with Alexios the tone oftentimes doesn't match the facial expression which is why people may feel it's bad. Kassandra's voice acting tho is absolutely stellar! Each line has its own emotion, it doesn't feel repeating tone-wise, it flows so nice, it has ups and downs. The voice actress really nailed the character!

@@cosmicwfnf3449 lmao, I completely agree. Her voice is lacks emotion when it needs it and is way too monotone too frequently. She never sounds like a person. These people are just blinded by the fact they have a hard on for their video game crush. On the other hand, Alexios displays a wide range of voice talent throughout the game. Seriously, I was impressed with his voice talent and his ability to handle any scene and situation. Especially emotional scenes which Kassandra fails at often and Yanks me put of the scene because of her sounding like she doesn't give a shite when it's supposed to be sad. Case in point, their deliveries of the line "Of course. Help yourself." There's no denying she delivers it terribly and with no emotion. It's flat. Alexios delivers it sarcastically yet friendly and sets the whole tone for their relationship. It was delivered great.

I didn't really get into this game - I will say that Kassandra seems to have a bit more of a lighter delivery - Alexios just seems angry all the time, whereas Kassandra seems to have a few more layers. Though, in turn, when Alexios is Deimos, he's kinda scary - Kassandra doesn't pull off that 'brainwashed killer' as well imo.

first, AMAZING COMPARISON vid. My thoughts: what I think is immediately apparent is the range of expression for facial emotion and the quality and disparity give Alexios' onscreen portrayal a lot more life...if you're the pedantic type and observer of human nature, it actually adds a lot of credibility to human likeness. You can see huge disparities in the reaction of Alexios being accosted and his reaction to being hit. Leagues of distance between the expressiveness and it seems a lot more authentic in Alexios' portrayal, if you ask me. Getting hit in the nose stings and produces A LOT of reaction to those who don't get punched for a living. The reaction is a lot more credible. Kassandra's facial model almost seems stone-faced by comparison. The synchronization between portrait and soundbyte seems more harmonic as a result. The gesticulation isn't even in the same ballpark...the neck roll to express disbelief looks robotic on Kassandra and Alexios' looks more organic. Kassandra's body-face model and range of vocal intonation don't hold a candle to Alexios'. *SPOILER ALERT* you wanna see a scene that clearly portrays the distinction--watch Phoebe's death scene and compare the two. Alexios' portrayal knocks it out of the park...listen to the breath control of the soundbytes as you can hear the timing and labored breathing as he tries to hold back a well of grief...Kassandra's has none of that.

Kassandra sound more real while Alexios is overly done.. He might have sounded okay if coming from exaggerated animated characters(think of Disney) with over the top facial expression and body movement but not here in AC Odyssey where they're trying to mimic real human conversations.

well like most said, Kassandra fits the protagonist and Alexios the antagonist. Kassandra's way sounds like a person indeed that grew up abandoned but had a sort of family love in phoebe and even in idiot markus, which also gives her a kind of ironic personality but warm. i remember i laughed so hard when she is helping a couple who wants some treasure and is being guarded by sharks, her expression is like, she gestures before she talks and we can actually feel the sarcasm on her voice "... sharks?!?!!!" . Alexios voice and expression fits the Deimos bc it makes sense he grew with no love and surrounded by suspicion. Actually I would love to play him but like a bad guy, if that makes sense - sort of like Vegeta the antagonist we all love xD. But overall great work from BOTH voice actors.

Haven't played the game, but I kind of agree. From the scenes shown here I think both are good. I slightly preferred Kassandra, especially in that first scene, but I think Alexios absolutely nailed it in the cult scene, whereas Kassandra didn't fit the role as well.

Alexios all the way. Sure, I love having a female protagonist, but for me, I've always found more fun in playing as male characters. Kassandra is great too, but for me, Alexios is who I choose, and I've been playing for a few weeks, and I still really enjoy it, even though the dialogue can get a bit, awkward, with Alexios.

I actually think both voice actors do a great job. They are different enough to give both Alexios and Kassandra their own personality while delivering the same lines. I think that goes so understated during this often debated topic. Combine that with the different moral choices you have in this game and it makes replaying the game very appealing to me(I normally dont replay games) as it would make the replay experience feel significantly different while be familiar with most of what will be happening.
