@@turin5675 Yes, the consistent "core" of true and independent Egypt was long gone by the Ptolemeic era. Some egyptologists say, that Egypt civilisation has ended with the death of Cleopatra, but more accurate (and supported by other Egyptologists) is the moment of the Alexanders conquare. If You know the history of an ancient Egypt from the begginings through all of the intermediate periods, You would understand what he meant. The final degeneration and rotting of ancient Egypt Civilisation starts with the death of Ramesess III (who probably was assasinated- nice irony considering the subject of the video). The last great (and true Egyptian at the same time) pharaoh. Last peak in history. I also think that Old and Middle ages of ancient Egypt history are much more intresting than the New Kingdom, which is most often exposed to the majority of people in pop culture. Cleopatra herself wasnt even a shadow compared to the Egyptian Pharaos, including female ones (Cleopatra wasnt even Egyptian). But because of her "love" story, being woman, the last "pharaoh" (as well as having considerable amount of knowledge we have due to more written records, which weren't popular in previous ages, since writings were reserved for propaganda, biurocracy and religion), she's romanticised all over the place, used as a example for modern feminism and exposed over and over again, whenever there is any subject about Egypt. Because of the whole context of Egyptian history, those times are more sad, than interesting to me. It was quite hard learning the slow fall, after Ramesess III. To me, Ubisoft wasted potential in fawor of medicority. And they failed anyway. Story and narration in the game is very weak, unfinished, unpolished and cliche. Fight system is just correct at best. Only that worked was graphics and recreation of the history setting. I've bought that game mostly education mode.

@Krogan Love 1000 years? I think it was more like 1600 years, and also pyramids after Old Kingdom, were poor quality buildings, less complicated. His review contains a lot of BS, he complicates things unnecessarily (i.e. "wide combat" etc. etc.). He's also often making contradictory points - you don't progress, but then he says you turn into a God who one-shots people. His point about not being able to win fights over your level is also wrong, it was a challenge to me to conquer forts above my level (it took me 13 times once, but it felt amazing once I did it! Hi Dark Souls!) Personally, I hated the parry combat in the first AC games since it was basically a QTE, not actual combat. Origins's combat isn't perfect but it's a quantum leap compared to the past. Downward Thrust tends to be too nitpicky and pessimistic about the games he reviews. He also seems to hate the parts most people enjoyed about Origins... I swear 80% of my time is just roaming around Egypt discovering things and marveling the nature, lol. It's also realistic how Bayek is after all still a common man, he's not an assassin, he's basically a sheriff whose badge was taken by the corrupt authorities. IMO the game is amazing... Downward Thrust is being way off point and with an icky confidence about it again. It's like he gets carried away in his criticizing thoughts to the point it makes him feel good and he wallows in it inventing more gripes to enumerate. It feels like it's making him feel competent to do so. IDK, just 5 AM thoughts. Also, notice how he didn't say anything of substance about the DLCs? Curse of the Pharaohs and The Hidden Ones. Not a peep. Instead he rambled on for 3-4 minutes saying vague shit about DLCs. Yes, some DLCs add mechanics... others add complete new areas and stories with them. And this according to him is bad because it's level-locked, i.e. you can't be level 1 and immediately go fight the Gods. Sigh.
@gnb_24763 жыл бұрын
@@EyeOfTheTiger777 You make a very great point. This review is really quite pretentious. This game took the series to another level and to be honest I think they stepped backward with Odyssey and Valhalla. As far as the world, why not make a player explore it. The Egypt they made was so beautiful and exploring can even teach you so much about the people and culture, along with their historical struggles during the arrival of the Romans during the fall of the Ptolemies.

@@Bruinsbigestbear It sounds bad but I don't care if they did a set single character none choice lead who was a man or a woman, providing it works with the setting, concpet and story of the game. Valhalla is definitely a lot better than Origins. For starters it had a better story. There were more memorable characters, better moments, revived and had the best modern day since AC3, the ending was amazing and i love how they tied Norse mythology with the ISU stuff, Eivor had a better character arc than Bayek as in the end she denied Odin's glory, compare that to Bayek who at the end was pretty much the same character at the beginning of the game. It also had better gameplay as it toned down the RPG stuff, which means combat isn't as boring as it isn't a grindy mess as you won't get obliterated by an enemy just a couple levels above you, brought back insta kills with the hidden blade, social stealth, better exploration as the game won't force you to do mundane side quests just to level up. One thing I would give to Origins though is the world, ancient Egypt just hits differently.

I never really found any interest in the assassin creed franchise until one day my neighbour were playing games on my Xbox.He ended up taking interest in the game I had which I no longer play constantly “Need for Speed Payback”. He offered to trade some games he had never bothered to play which he got with his Xbox(You know like a bundle when he bought it). The games he had that he offered to trade with me were “Rainbow Six Siege”” and of course “Assassin’s Creed Origin”. I accepted the trade and towards New Years I went to download rainbow but found i would have to delete a game of mine to have more space to download it. I didint want to do that so instead I tried downloading origin which of course worked.What made me stick to it so long was that I discoreved my cousin also had but hadn’t bothered progressing. I ended up talking about it and we both started playing constantly. We sent each other videos and guides and kept updating each other on our progress. I feel like when you have another friend who is also playing those open world single player games with you for the first it makes you motivated to play as you want to catch with them and prove your better and it gives you someone to talk about the game. To conclude I needed up completing the game as well as the DLC “The hidden ones”. I also u locked all but 2 of the achievements within the game excluding the “Curse of the pharaohs” DLC which I never ended up purchasing. To conclude I ended with the max level of 45 and didn’t play for a couple of months. I then got Assassains Creed Valhalla and when I first started playing it, it made me realise how good AC origins was. I never ended up really getting into AC Valhalla and to this day I haven’t completed it’s storyline, I also assume that Origins will be the only AC game I truely enjoyed playing. Thank you Ubisoft.

You bring up a good point about open world games: when you do missions, you want to see the world react to the changes you've made. Games like Dishonored and Deus Ex did that. Me personally I love it when NPCs acknowledge who you are. The changes in dialogue and interaction to the world is what I want to see. Maybe you gain access to new missions that were locked unless you did stuff for the town. Or maybe access to new/hidden locations. Side missions should feel like you're always gaining something, not always equipment.

I honestly don't understand this whole grinding issue people seems to have with this game and Odyssey (I haven't played Valhalla yet). I've played both games on my own pace just as I like doing it, with a lot of exploring and use of fast travel turned down to minimum, and at no point in either of those titles I had an issue with being underleveled for content I currently wanted to do. I imagine that some people just try to rush the game too much in which case the level requirment is less then ideal solution.

I played the original AC and got hooked when AC2 came out, what a joy it was. I finished the trilogy and loved every single moment of it. I never understood all the complains about revelations, it was a great closure for Enzio, and you got to play an old experienced assassin doing what he knows best for the last time. I bought AC3 on release, but even though I did like Connor and the combat, I just never finished it. I couldn't give you an exact reason, but the game just didn't keep me interested. After that I got turned off from AC for a few years, but this one, Origins was what brought me back. I honestly got no major complains, I loved Bayek and the story over all. It never felt like a grind to me, I was so mesmerized by everything on the map that I seldom found myself running low in levels. Either way, it felt like a true AC game, and the setting and prequel story was thoroughly enjoyable. I bought Odyssey and while fun, I had to force myself to finish it. It felt too cartoonish. I'm not interested in Valhalla. I think I will sit down on the side lines until they decide to bring my boi Bayek back. We'll see.

I absolutely love this game! As a huge ancient Egypt lover, I spend most of my spare time studying it! The culture recreation of ancient Egypt in this game, truly is amazing! From the people beliefs and interecations, to the big cities and natural landscapes. This game doesn't get the deserved recognition!
@gnb_24763 жыл бұрын
I think part of the side quests was to have you explore the Egypt they made. It was a beautiful world they built and if I were them I would show it off too. I suppose it could be my opinion but I enjoyed the side quests and they gave me plenty of practice with my assassinations and combat, exploring the various weapon types and tactics. I also never really had issues with stealth and assassinations, particular as now there is the bow.

When I moved from a crappy laptop to a gaming laptop not too long ago, the first thing I did was download AC Origins because it was the only latest AC that I never got to play. And when I first saw Bayek overlooking Siwa, I almost cried. It's beautiful. The graphics are beautiful. It became clear to me that I really came from the lowest of low ends because a game from 2017 on med-high settings is enough to astonish me. So to all of you out there with low end gear, just keep working on getting that beefy setup. And when you finally do, take a moment to remember how far you've come.

I think that ultimately creating interesting parkour in a recreation of, like, the entirety of ancient egypt is kind of a cursed problem. Like, you can't have both because they are contradictory. It's just not feasible, when compared to the older games which had a single large city that has some more complicated architecture. Ancient egypt and renaissance-19th century Europe are literally just built different, and that relates to technology, economic system, and culture. Edit: grammar

This is my favourite game I ever played. I wasn't in a great headspace when I played this game, and Origins gave me an opportunity to escape reality through beautiful Egypt. Like AC2, Origins has a certain aura of magic around it. The music, the sight and sounds, the characters, the atmosphere and ambiance, the indescribable feeling of peace when playing. I connected to Bayek and his quest to find truth on a whole other level and I can safely say Origins, like some other AC games, are more than games. This game changed me for the better, as AC2, Black Flag, Rogue and Unity did. Thank you Ashraf and Ubisoft.

I've been subscribed to you with the bell on for I don't know how long, so you think I'd be a shoe in to get this video recommended in my feed or even on my subscription list. My favorite Assassins Creed game of all time and among my top 5 favorite games ever created!! I came back to Origins after switching PC and I completed every little possible thing you can do in the game and I LOVED it, I’m glad I returned because I would’ve missed so much. The environment, the feel, the soundtrack; so many reasons to love this game, it will forever be one of my favorites!!

I was very sceptical of Origins and it turned into one of my favourites. I have done and seen everything in this game. One thing I noticed as a result is that there's a lot of interesting space, which still remains empty. If you're not a geologist then some of the areas have no secrets and no easter eggs to offer. If you completed every quest & gathered every lootable object then the game feels empty. I cannot even do busywork or anything - at best hunting to no end.

I enjoyed Origins. The setting was world building was very immersive and beautiful. I found the story to be pretty good although it didn't impress me. Combat was a bit clunky but thankfully it will improve in Odyssey. I still finished it and spent about 70 hours in it, but for me it was the prototype for the much improved and more enjoyable AC Odyssey. At least for me. From the new AC trilogy I enjoyed Odyssey the most, but Origins got the transition started and I think it was a good game overall.

This was the best review of this game and I'm happy you pointed out the very obvious problems of the gameplay that everybody denies. Things like you couldn't one shot people with hidden blade and the stealth turned into action really makes me think this wasn't a rushed game; it was just a bad game that the developers didn't really put much thought in it. Also I have more than 150 hours in Odyssey even though they share a lot but the story and characters in that game really nailed it and made it relatively bearable. Fingers crossed for Mirage.

I do agree that the Combat and Gameplay mechanics are quite lacking. However, I felt the story carried the game hardcore. Origins was my first title in the franchise and I adored it. I have my complaints about the leveling and difficulty systems, but it's something present in many titles these days. I felt the characters and overall story were phenomenal and immersed me in the game heavily. Bayek is fantastic, and his interactions with the Shadya questline really do help us see further into the character as you mention. While side characters didn't get much screen time I felt they were fantastically well done in the time they had. The storyline with the Hyena made a sympathetic villain and we understood why she was doing what she was, she was a quick snipit into what Bayek might have become if he strayed down the wrong path, potentially strengthening his resolve at the same time. I do wish you talked more about the story, but great in-depth analysis of the game. Fantastic video!

I'm currently replaying Origins, but as New game+ And the pacing feels much better this way. Level gating was never a problem for me, I was actually over leveled at the halfway, because I did every sidequest. But the gear gate was a problem. Now I don't have to divert my attention to hunt resources to upgrade my gear, and check for new stuff. I just pick whichever gold weapon I have and feel like using, and go to my next objective, or explore. I still do the sidequest because I feel like that's a good time, and they mostly add to the story. The game world is really pull me in. But I remember how I had to divert my attention in my first playthrough to gather resources and upgrade my hidden blade and armor to stay effective. This was handled a lot better in Odyssey, where it was purely gear (and ability) based, and you were fine with the gear you picked up during your quests. One thing I miss somewhat is no satisfaction when findig a new weapon, because I already have the best ones. Lesson from this: Make the extra content of the game a way to empower and entertain the player, not a conduit to help them not fall behind the story. PS: Bayek needs a sequel!

I've played all ac games, started with 1 back in 2007, until valhalla. And my favourite combat is on Origins.
