@Bzake its just that one should spend a lot of time exploring the world in order to find places to exercise these contextual moves, and then remember it in order to choreograph all this video. Cuz this is ac origins, the parkour here depends on the context, there is little control here. He cant just do that move at will.

@@swstealth That's what I enjoy about it... It's contextual but completely pervasive. Older "pure" AC titles are just as contextual but it was like parkour on rails or training wheels which allowed it to be more fluid/flashy... there were only cetain avenues you could use. If I had to describe the parkour in the latest AC games (the rpg trilogy) I would just describe it as functional but not fun. It lacks control: you do everything with just one or two buttons and you often find yourself on the wrong ledges. It has no style so you never feel cool doing it, although that could speak about the characters personalities: maybe Arno is a young stylish guy that likes to show off, while Eivor or Bayek are more like soldiers, practical and rough people. The real issue is the lack of control and inputs needed, because that makes parkouring not challenging and rewarding. And of course, the big open maps do not favor parkour, even though they're stunning and fun to explore. Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla are good games, they're objectively better than most entries of the series; but they lack those crucial elements that make a good AC game, like a good parkouring system
@thisbubblygoodness76112 жыл бұрын
think you summed it up nicely. it works, but thats it the one thing i do appreciate and respect is how the developers mapped Bayek to climb mountain sides and make it look genuine
@tarnishedpose2 жыл бұрын
An *entirely practical mechanic devoid of any style or substance to it* sounds about the adequate description for what the climbing system AKA Parkour has been reduced to since Origins. To think it used to be the one if not the most important aspect gameplay-wise.

I actually love it. I felt similarly at first but it grew on me as I adapted. Overall it has a pace and feel that reminds of AC1 which I really love... It's more grounded and not as fast/flash Spider-man sort of action. But I love that you have to be much more responsive and that you can transition to any attack at most any point.... once you figure it out. It's very contextual and deliberate for certain... but I did find it fun.

To do this, jump towards the beam and before you reach it, let go of your forward input and only hold the Parkour button. Instead of climbing up, Bayek will start swinging on the pole, and you can now press forward to leap off, or backwards to change direction. There's even a special animation for swinging into a leap of faith, with Bayek doing a snazzy backflip.

@@thedudejqn yeah the jumps in those games with free run up were mad weird too but the parkour in unity was still better than AC origins and syndicate

Parkour is decent and the the RPG elements for the assassins creed wasn’t my favorite either but origins wasn’t bad at all

Maybe, but you can't deny that the running animation looks very dull compared to AC3, Black Flag, Unity, and Syndicate.
