Origins has good designed ropes. Most of the cities its quite good for parkour, not that good like older AC, but not too bad like copy paste cities in Odyssey. I like Alexandria.

@Bzake its just that one should spend a lot of time exploring the world in order to find places to exercise these contextual moves, and then remember it in order to choreograph all this video. Cuz this is ac origins, the parkour here depends on the context, there is little control here. He cant just do that move at will.

@@swstealth That's what I enjoy about it... It's contextual but completely pervasive. Older "pure" AC titles are just as contextual but it was like parkour on rails or training wheels which allowed it to be more fluid/flashy... there were only cetain avenues you could use. In Origins nearly everything *can* be navigated and *you* have to figure out what is the most fluid/efficient in real-time. I think it's super satisfying in its own way.

If I had to describe the parkour in the latest AC games (the rpg trilogy) I would just describe it as functional but not fun. It lacks control: you do everything with just one or two buttons and you often find yourself on the wrong ledges. It has no style so you never feel cool doing it, although that could speak about the characters personalities: maybe Arno is a young stylish guy that likes to show off, while Eivor or Bayek are more like soldiers, practical and rough people. The real issue is the lack of control and inputs needed, because that makes parkouring not challenging and rewarding. And of course, the big open maps do not favor parkour, even though they're stunning and fun to explore. Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla are good games, they're objectively better than most entries of the series; but they lack those crucial elements that make a good AC game, like a good parkouring system
@thisbubblygoodness7611

think you summed it up nicely. it works, but thats it the one thing i do appreciate and respect is how the developers mapped Bayek to climb mountain sides and make it look genuine
@tarnishedpose
@tarnishedpose 2 жыл бұрын
An *entirely practical mechanic devoid of any style or substance to it* sounds about the adequate description for what the climbing system AKA Parkour has been reduced to since Origins. To think it used to be the one if not the most important aspect gameplay-wise.

I actually love it. I felt similarly at first but it grew on me as I adapted. Overall it has a pace and feel that reminds of AC1 which I really love... It's more grounded and not as fast/flash Spider-man sort of action. But I love that you have to be much more responsive and that you can transition to any attack at most any point.... once you figure it out. It's very contextual and deliberate for certain... but I did find it fun.

Not only would it have been more fun but it also wouldn't have been hard to implement. There was already a few vault animations in the game and it could have simply been hold circle instead of x, or b instead of a. Would have given the player much more control over the style of bayeks movement

Origins brought back what I liked about AC. Yes there's level system that's sort of bummer for old school fans. But it's very simplistic and I really request them to just go with it for a few hours until you get some upgrades and I assure that there's that old school assassin's creed hidden under it with a good story too. It's that last well-made AC worth playing.

Ngl parkour in this RPG approach is overall the smoothest of all the franchise. The problem is that the animations aren't as cool as Unity's, Syndicate's or even the "Connor trilogy". That's probably why parkour in Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla is considered bad or at least a step back from what we already had

Did you know you can actually pole vault in this game? As in, you can swing off ropes and wooden beams, rather than always climbing up on them. To do this, jump towards the beam and before you reach it, let go of your forward input and only hold the Parkour button. Instead of climbing up, Bayek will start swinging on the pole, and you can now press forward to leap off, or backwards to change direction. There's even a special animation for swinging into a leap of faith, with Bayek doing a snazzy backflip.

Why does the audio for Ubisoft's games lately sound like ass??? It sounds like they recorded it on their answering machine like wtf even the sound effects sound weird and unnatural. The last Ubisoft games that had great superb audio recording was Farcry 5 after that everything just sounded like muffled 911 dispatcher call audio. Even Farcry 6 had this issue where the parachute would sound like an mp3 sound effect recorded using a scratched up record player or something. Like the way npcs talk sound like their talking through a baby monitor microphone. Has anyone noticed this or is it just me?
