Agreed. My favorite parts within the games are the dialogue between Shay/Liam/Gist. Every time Shay talks about his target's deaths and how he feels guilty, Liam always said "For the Greater Good." While Gist says, "Aye, they were good people. We were just on differing sides, that's all."

The Kenway Saga worked wonders for helping me understand the Templars, even empathising with their order and goals. We need more direct sequels in the historical periods of these games rather than simply jumping massively in time and place with each game I don’t know why we never got the Connor and Arno vs Shay game in the Napoleonic War, everything was literally right there for Ubisoft to have this amazing crossover and they’ve totally missed it

I mean, Shay would’ve been around Achilles’ age by that time. But a scene all three would’ve been good. I don’t think that Connor would truly have a reason to hunt Shay anyways, as Shay’s entire life’s work was destroyed by him already.

I remember first knowing this game, just looking at the cover art I feel like the protagonist is gonna be badass, shame that we didn't get the hooded version templar outfit cos that looks so awesome on Shay. In terms of world I wouldn't say it is worse than ACBF, sure Black Flag has that tropical vibrant color scheme to suit the Carribean, but I also like the cold feeling that Rogue brings, similar to its main theme. The weather system is also quite good, the River Valley part of the map is in my opinion, a well-made portion of the world, since before in ACBF there was only sea and cities, but in River Valley they combined well, and sailing the Morrigan in that area always gives a nice feeling

I just finished playing Rogue today and I could say with certainty that this has tons of potential. Like Templars and Assassins both have their own stereotypes. The Chaos Causing Assassins and the Power Hungry Templars is what majority of them see each other but there are others who might differ from that stereotype. And rogue showed that.

If only we could have been given a game about a Templar and an Assassin deserting their orders and teaming up with each other. It's certainly the sort of game that I would have given a shot.

I like how in rogue, it feels like what you can do to your enemies, they can do to you too. There are stalkers that will take out a huge chunk of your health if you're not careful. Enemy ships can now board you, though in my playthroughs, it rarely happens. Assasination interceptions are fun and wish they could bring it back in future titles in some way. I personally like Shay's design & arsenal. I'm always a sucker for sword & dagger combo, but I wish we can actually use the rifle as a firearm & not just as a tool. The only problem I have with Rogue is its story, but I'll leave that in Rogue's what it did wrong video.

@@deniselisboa1 Shay's reason for leaving the brotherhood is based on a misunderstanding/miscommunication between him & the assassins when all of this would've been solved if Shay was calm to explain what happened in Lisbon because the assassins also don't know anything about the precursor sites, even after the Haiti incident. Shay was fighting under a delusional cause that the assassins' plan to use the precursor sites for their own gain when the opposite is true. It was the Templars who actively seek to use the artifacts for their own benefit, while the assassins want to stop them from doing so.

@@sonofsueraf well from his own perspective, the assassins were the ones messing with the precursor sites and causing destruction. his frantic response came from a traumatic experience, and along with it, the loss of trust on those who he thought he understood. he felt bad for having to assassinate some of his former friends, but he didnt trust them anymore

@@deniselisboa1 yeah, and it's honestly dumb. I find it hard to sympathize with Shay since he accuses the assassins of the very thing the templars are actually doing. I do like the ship combat in Rogue more than that in Black Flag (using the Morgan is a more fun than using the Jackdaw). I also like the location but mainly because I just like “Cold” more than “Hot”. The first two maybe just personal choices, but I also think there are a few gameplay improvements too. Like when ya use the whistle there is actually a ring around the character to help ya indicate who is able to actually hear ya (unlike in Black Flag where ya had to guess to whether or not they were too far). I also really like the grenade launcher and dart gun over just the blow tube. Lastly, the whole renovation system did help me make shit tons of credits during the play throughs. I just wish there was a new game plus feature that allows the player to do the game again but with the same weapons and Morgan upgrades. Also, it’s a bit of a side thing but I like how Shay is helping with the 7 Years War (like he’s actually a commander in the battlefront of the War and it is just really cool). I just wish that more people who played the game would try to lay off killing so many British soldiers after they become Templars (like, they are suppose to be your ally’s), but that isn’t too important in the long run though.

When I first found the theme before playing Rogue I imagined what Rogue could've been about and I wasn't wrong. I thought it will be sad and Shay will be someone left behind or smth like that. Unity is really far from this and Syndicate in gameplay.

I loved Rogue, it challenged everything we knew. For the past 6 games we saw Templars as evil without question left us wondering who was good or evil.

I loved AC Rogue from launch and found the plot, character and story very intriguing! Rogue kind of show you some of what Haytham tried to tell Connor about the difference between the Templars and the Assassins. I really like that this game shows that both sides are wrong and right. Both sides are trying to achieve in many ways the same goal, only that their approach, or way towards the goal, is very different.

This was my first main Assassin's Creed, imagine my absolute confusion about the present day and Lisboa. Also the way in how it doesn't spoil anything from the previous games but it teases you that for you it's a mistery unless you have played the rest of the games. This game is a great starter for any AC fan tbh.

Assassin's Creed Rogue is definitely a game from this franchise I consider high on my list. Not only did it take the moral ambiguity of the Templars from Assassin's Creed 3 and further built upon it, but it also shed a light on the Assassins and revealed that they're not always the good guys like what we're led to believe. Sure, the overall goal of the Assassins may be more desirable, but that doesn't make all of the actions they take to reach that goal good, and this is superbly illustrated by the Colonial Brotherhood like Achilles, Chevalier, Hope, etc. Stuff like that makes the world of AC feel more believable, and I love that.

I personally thought Rogue messed up in the fipped perspective thing. The Assassins act like Templars and the Templars act like Assassins so not really a flipped perspective. Not to mention Shay doesn't really reflect on the core ideas of the each side such as free will.

I am a major assassin‘s creed fan. I always choose the assassin’s over the Templars any day, but I didn’t really like rogue that much because I didn’t want to see the perspective of a Templar that was the former assassin but after seeing it, I started liking it, because intern, it really shows your different perspectives on either the assassins or Templars yet neither side is good or bad, but I know like rogue an amazing game incisors much I haven’t seen yet

I love rogue it’s my top three, the setting worked better for parkour than ac4, the stalker system was amazing raiding gang hideouts was so strategic and fun and seeing Shay change as a character and be able to see the Templars perspective in a better way than what ac3 presented us with made me love the game so much to the point where I can just hop on ac rogue one day and free roam the map and have fun

I don’t know what other people think but I enjoyed Rouge a lot. It’s one of the first AC games I’ve played and I recognize the flaws in the game and the plot but I still really like it. It’s got very solid gameplay for a 2014 game and Shay’s a fairly good protagonist.

He needed some support like : financial, psyhical, physical etc. Altaïr Ibn-LaʼAhad was strong already and wise and etc. you know where Iam going. And he was supported from the beggining by the rebels and had respect of brotherhood Shay betreyed them and they did not believed him and he had no Assasins as friends...so what should he do? Walk right into theyrs homes and say "Hey homies I know that I took your book but, youre doing it wrong, trust me" he could have done that and they would kill him or lough him off af. He had no other joice than just join the templars and stop what he believed that is good

Great game and great video! When Unity and Rogue came out I didn’t have a current console yet so I definitely had time to give Rogue the proper attention. Although 4 does have a better looking world, I have always liked the time period/location in Rogue. Be cool if there was some kind of follow up or conclusion to Shay’s story.

I've only played all the way through Black Flag, and I'm halfway through Rogue. Honestly, I find Rogue to be way more engaging in its story and gameplay. It can definitely be labeled as Black Flag 1.5, but it polishes what came before and its addition of Assassin enemies has been really welcome with their new challenges. Then again, maybe I'm just easily impressed by games that let me play as the "Evil Organization"

Many fans out there cryticise Shay's motif for betraying Assassins, but i think they done a good job portraying so. The whole reason was just a misunderstanding between Shay and Achilles. If Achilles explained to Shay what happened and how powerful the artifacts were, if he wasnt depressed after his sonvs death things would turn out different
@Steel-101

Well here’s what I see in the story. The assassins support the free will of humanity but the Templars want to rob humanity of their free will. Haytham explains the orders goals very well in the third game. The Templars want full Control of everything. Just look at what they try to do in the fourth game. They wanted to use the observatory to spy on everybody. So the assassins are clearly the good guys because they don’t like the idea of one corrupt power ruling everything. Now I will admit that the assassins in rogue did not act very good. I mean just look at who their friends were in this game. Achilles allied himself with criminals in New York(Who terrorized civilians). Achilles didn’t even want to listen to Shay about those first civilization orbs(that destroyed cities). Instead of telling Shay to calm down and explain what happened he just kicked him out. Achilles was filled with pride and frustration because sadly his family passed away. However shay was still foolish to support the Templars because the Templars never changed their goals. For crying out loud they wanted to murder George Washington and that would’ve led to the end of the American 🇺🇸 revolution(thankfully Connor stopped them).

Rogue is one of my favorite AC games in terms of story and I think that Shay best encapsulates the Catholic principle of elevating the sanctity of life above the quality of life that the Assassins and many Templars (after all you can't have a debate on what kind of life is best, if you're all dead). With that said, I don't know if I would say that Shay's beliefs aligned with the Templars, so much as the Templars in this instance, aligned more with Shay.
