Who knows. I suggested they might be referring to directions on a compass since so far the rune locations correlate to compass directs meaning that there might be more runes and once you make a map and trace imaginary lines on it you’ll find the location you are supposed to go to.

I think this necklace / medallion on this grave is from Bran, who went to look for the Ring of Silvanius and the Janus mask. On his way home after he wrote his last letter which was found on the the Roman ruins near Thieves Warren, he was ambushed and buried there! He never got home to his brother at the farm on the north entrance of Glowecestrescire! I was able to find 3 letters from Bran (Letter #1: roman ruins in the Forrest of Denu, Letter #2: bath at Glowecestre, letter #3 roman ruins on the hill, west side of Thieves Warren) and on the farm I found a letter from his brother Daffyd which directly refer to Bran! Due to the fact that I´ve found no more letter from Bran and the fastest way home from the ruins to his farm cross this Thieves Warren, I think he was ambushed and buried there! The Janus Mask may also be important in the game (if it is no eastern egg) due to the fact that it was written by Bran that you can step between the worlds wearing this mask! Maybe a clue for the Odin´s Rune?!?! So. this is my theory, please correct me if I´m wrong!

Apparently the runes are locations for the fallen hero's caves which gives the fallen hero's armor set. there is a map of each location at the place near Ravensthorpe (all 4 other locations shown here as well as one in Eruviscire near Anlaf's Lookout). Complete each cave puzzle, cut scene for how the hero died and get the armor.

Valhalla definitely has a lot more going on than Odyssey did but I've never understood people complaining about Odyssey being crappy. It's as long as any of its predecessors and has all kinds of activities and missions and places to explore outside of the main story arc much more than it's predecessors. like how can you call a game where you fight a sphinx, Medusa, Minotaur, discover and explore Elysium, Hades, and Atlantis a game with 0% mystery and nuance?

Odyssey also focuses on quantity over quality, I prefer the latter. And the mythical worlds and monsters felt out of place and it’s conflicting with the original genres of historical and sci fi.

I agree that the game was very light-hearted with many of the side missions sure but the entire main story is nothing but drama. I'm not sure how the Greek interpretation of the afterlife could be out of place in a game heavily featuring Greek mythology. Atlantis was pretty out of place I would say but that doesn't mean it wasn't awesome to go to freaking Atlantis lol. I don't want this to be like a debate I was just expressing the thought that a lot of people decided Odyssey was bad because they were told it was bad. there were features that were in origins that were better than Odyssey and there were features in Odyssey that were better than origins because the company is playing around with the revitalization and reimagining of the series. they totally nailed it with Valhalla so that's really cool except for how broken it was on release, my buddy bought it and played for about 3 hours before a questline glitched out and wouldn't let him speak to who would be your brother in the game and they never patched it, to date he still can't play. I myself got a mission while in Asgard that would force crash the game every time I stepped into a specific room and it took about a month before they got the patch out that fixed that. So I guess I'm trying to say every assassin's Creed game has its problems... Except for Black flag, that game was sheer perfection.

@AccessTheAnimus, I have a small itch in my ear about these Odin's runes: + 1) About the quantity I think it's either one per region or only 9 runes, since the number 9 also have some symbolic meaning in norse mythology - and also the number 3 has direct relation with Odin himself, maybe one of it's multiples may be the total; + 1.5) Only when found all runes the triangulation will be possible (obvious), however it seems that it'll point to the middle to lower regions of the map (so far); + 2) Also related to the runes, there's a side quest in Yorkshire (if I remember correctly) that a man is talking to a rabbit and he thinks it's Loki, and he says that if he fight you and win, "Loki" will give him treasure... well, if you follow the rabbit when the fight is over it'll take you to a place where there's a necklace and Eivor comments something about having a felling when picking up the necklace - this item can be sold and it's very expansive, it's not a quest item, but it have a special name and look to it - and since then I've been thinking that this small thing may have some relation to it, doe to the fact that it's a "illusory Loki" using "illusions" to fool mortals and it's actually giving a reward to the player... if it's a nice detail of the developers or if it's a real deal for this mystery I don't know... + 3) About the reincarnations of the Isu, it's important to remember that Harald is considered a enemy in the game (when you use Odin's Sight) and he may play a extra role in the DLCs, but if he has something more to do with any of the game mysteries, I have any idea.

I thought Faravid was the reincarnation of Jormungandr because of how Faravid nearly poisons Halfdan Ragnarsson. In Nordic mythology Jormungandr poisons Thor( Halfdan's ancestor) before being struck on the head. Just like how Halfdan strikes Faravid on the head

Perhaps the runes will grant us access to Odin's cloak or something - I was saying to myself during the game every time I saw him "gimme that cloak" I'm quite pleased the community has solved the mystery of the mystery Norse Sages since it gives more depth to the game and shows how much effort and work has been put in it. My own mystery is this: who is the missing person and location entry in the Codex? I've unlocked all but one from each and the other boxes are filled completely.

I bet it has to do with the bear related weapons and especially armor. I believe the reward could be a bear mount 🤔 I wandered through the descriptions of each gear, and so far I realised 2 things: 1. Bear related armor and weapons are the most valuable and important (ex. Thor's pack and Gungnir) and 2. Out of all the descriptions, the Thegn Armor with Gungnir and Drakkar shield are the most suspicious. Also, in Vinland and in Suthsexe I found bones of what looks like a dragon/serpent/snake, gigantic! And the way it looks, these are related to the chalk figures: Odin being the Longman (having Gungnir and another weapon?), the Horse being his, and the snake being the serpent he kills in one of the Norse Myths. All these details seem to come together somehow, but there are still things I need to figure out..

"Make someone invisible" may also be more realistic as a teleporter from one rune to another. From an observer's standpoint, the player would "become invisible". And since the runes are scattered all over, I'm thinking a teleport/warp ability from rune to rune. Now, how to use them? No clue.

I dont know why this crossed my mind, and its probably kinda crazy. But you mentioned shape shifting between bear and human when it comes to the rune. Could we like try to use some photoshop and see if the star constellation «the great bear» lines up with the rune locations on the map? Its mby overthi king but like I dont know how to photoshop and I think its worth a try

Yes, as far as we know Gungnir has already been used on the runes, but to no avail :( Not sure about the Noden's arc though!

But what about the mythological veil that is assassin's Creed Odyssey? The fate of Atlantis was surely during the time of the Isu, or at least the simulation we were put in was. Asgard Atlantis Jotunheim, these were all certainly Isu cities. Or at least how the animus ancestor perceives it. I wonder what other mythological cities were actually Isu.

I’m confused. Why were all of these sages living at the same time, was it coincidence? Also, how is it that the ISU genes happened upon Eivor and co? Were these genes passed down from generation to generation, meaning there were multiple sages of Eivor and co throughout the ages? I read a theory that Eivor wasn’t a sage but a “reincarnation” - I don’t think this theory works..

So eivor is a sage? When i play assassin's creed black flag what i understand sage can be reborn alot of times ? Cant this sages be reborn more times like black flag?

Not *this* type of Sage! The game hints at it, the.. "Asgardian" or "Aesir" Sages are made slightly differently from the ones shown in AC4, and are supposed to be reborn only once!
