Personally I loved the open, adventure style game play of Odyssey and really enjoyed the combat and consistent adherence to theme(with some nice art). The main characters, both of whom are said to be of mythological origins; don't feel out of place in their environment. Their seemingly supernatural physical traits combined with the infrequent diversions back to the modern day and the Animus; lets you just enjoy the great action and ancient Greek adventure with out being interrupted or constantly being reminded of your complete suspension of disbelief of these fantastical events. They essentially throw out the Animus, make you a Demi God and then set you loose on Ancient Greece. It makes for a great time but it's not necessarily the quintessential Assassin's Creed title.

@@ShalThuzar Bla bla bla. Maybe it's not about immersion to you, but to me and a lot of people immersion is extremely important in all games. The very first AC game I played was Black Flag. I started playing blind without any prior knowledge of the franchise. I was loving the game, but when the first modern world segment started, I nearly rage quit the game right there. It was THAT unimmersive. I thought I was playing a pirate game! Not a game within a game! @@ShalThuzar Just because something IS doesn't mean it SHOULD BE. The precursor civilization, the shadow war between Templars and Assassins, Abstergo and animus and Desmond and Layla, this is all fucking terrible. It ruins the other 98% of the game, the sections are slow and annoying and mostly just exposition dumps about the "real" story that we don't fucking care about because we don't know or care about these characters. And it forces the writers to constantly try to tie together unrelated stories all over the world. Such cool ideas are presented and then overshadowed by basically magic bullshit. Yea, I know Senua's character was Pictish, but the story took place in the Viking territories of Scandinavia (as an aside, the next Hellblade [Senua's Saga] will take place in Iceland). For those reading this - Hellblade is free on Xbox Game Pass if you haven't tried it (be absolutely sure you use headphones instead of speakers - it's extremely important for this game since it relies heavily on audio cues).

You're wrong about one thing here. There ARE time savers. You can even buy gear with stats, often way better than what you find in-game. An op one would be the poison/fire build, and if you've tried to upgrade your gear, you'll notice their effect. You'd have to grind side content for dozens of hours if you want to actually have enough supplies to upgrade your gear fully, and even more if you want to try out different builds without hitting enemies with a wet noodle for a weapon. Or... you can spend money and have it instantly.

How is that Skyrim is much interesting which I didn't like that much. How can others create games like Witcher III or Dark Souls or even Dragon Age Inquisition by EA. These have some depth, some meaning, characters, story, lore. And why is that? Maybe because they don't throw out same generic, low effort content at us every year, with some minor cosmetic changes. Good games can be made but not like this for sure.

100% agree with you on this. This game grew on me. I began to question my initial thoughts that this was not as good as Odyssey. It is better and I love so many aspects of this game. But other games out shine it and it was extremely disheartening knowing what potential Valhalla would have if they just spent more time on it. This game really shows a battle between a triple A gaming company pushing and cutting corners with a massively creative team wanting and wishing to do more and stuck having to just get it working good enough to get out the door.

I think the quality of the last three AC games (Valhalla,Origin and Odyssey) is same. 7/10 is fair right. They are slightly above average and utilize the mythologies well but they don't deserve more.
