People’s issue is he’s the only black person in an assassin’s creed game set in japan. Every other assasins creed game had original protagonists who fit the time period Ezio was Italian set in Italy, Edward Kenway European pirate during the “great pirate era”, connor Kenway Native American during the revolutionary war, we had a Spartan in odyssey and a Norwegian Viking in valhala. Now ac shadows is the only game where that formula goes out the window and we have a historical mc. Five years ago maybe this goes under weird but let’s see now with games like suicide squad, flintlock ,forspoken etc… and all of the pandering in Hollywood people recognize the pattern game/movie that focuses on dei and esg first over story and gameplay and we get a crap product. And maybe we could have written this off when it was first revealed that Yasuke was the mc but following that we’ve had in game hip hop music, collector’s edition boxes that have incorrect kanji, flag art stolen from a Japanese reenactment team, historically Chinese buildings that don’t belong in Japan, cherry blossoms blooming in the wrong season, lead historian or writer whose claim to fame is a book on how Japanese monks made love to young boys and so on. Assassin’s creed used to try to be historically accurate( at least to a degree) but they’re not even trying now and yet they think it’s important to have a black protagonist in a Japanese game that’s important. People have pattern recognition and now gamers have got a feel for where dei has taken over games and pushed actual story and gameplay to the bottom of the totem pole and this without a shadow of a doubt is a game run by activists more concerned with being P.C. over making a good games.

I think Thomas Lockley, author of "AfricanSamurai," is the key. He compiled Wikipedia using his own unpublished papers and books as sources. Japan has been a country where subculture has been prevalent for a long time. "The black man who served Nobunaga" is a very attractive idea for fan fiction, and it started to be used as a fictional story in the mid-Edo period. So "Yasuke is a samurai" itself is not a big problem. What is problematic is UBI's words and actions and attitude when he says "it's historical fact," and his attempt to make historical distortions and falsifications historical fact. Another big problem is the unauthorized use of intellectual property and portraits. What UBI is doing is not acceptable, though. From another perspective, UBI and the games he created seem like a fuel depot that constantly drops ideas (blunders) for creation from a Japanese perspective.

I really thought that Shift-Up is different, that they are truly based and were making their games for the actual players. But this makes me just incredibly sad. They are like all the other corporate shills, only care about how to satisfy their endless greed for money. They are willing to sacrifice their identity and the essence of their studio for fast and sweet ESG money, and they are willing to pendar to everyone in order to get that I just don't understand how Kim was ok with that. Doesn't he know what made his games so successful and why people are paying for them. Why is he risking to loose his main customer base for the some ESG founds. Is he not seeing what is happening in the western gaming industry right know, and how people are rejecting everything with ESG and DEI involvement. He already sold so many of his shares that even Tencent has almost as much as he does, and this should be very considering. I thought they were smart enough to avoid all the woke western ideologies, because western devs are only loosing money because of that political push in their games. Now they are doing the same thing. He will learn the hard way that you should not turn on your customers, like the west is doing right know. I really hope that I am overreacting, but it always starts this way. The moment you open your doors for ESG then you won't be able to close them. The infection will spread deeper and deeper until your studio is unrecognisable. Take a look at Square Enix for example. Only a shadow of their former self, and they are working with SBI. I expect the first signs of their ESG involvement to be seen at the end of this year or start of next year. I wouldn't be surprised if they even go back and censor more stuff in Nikke or Stellar Blade or make Eve gay in the sequel. At this point we will know that it's over for Shift-Up. What a shame, and I thought we were starting to get some wins against the wokeness.
