As someone mentioned, one way might be to omit the Japanese woman from the main character; UBI chose Yasuke instead of the Japanese samurai because he could not relate to the Japanese (a statement made in a deleted interview). A Japanese woman named Naoe was also provided, but the life of a female ninja is harsher than that of a samurai, and is rarely praised. She is a shadowy figure whose name is difficult even to leave in history, and her situation is always complicated. What is the contradiction that it is impossible to create a male Japanese samurai and possible to create a female ninja who is more difficult to portray? Frankly, I think they want to see an unrealistic black samurai in full armor wetting his cudgel with Japanese blood.

My favorite story about a Kunoichi based out of Kyoto who snuck into a regional warlord's local holdings disguised as a washerwoman. She then found the room of records and "cooked the books", and stole a small amount of gold each time. After a couple years of this she (or someone) sent a message to the Shogun that the regional warlord was skimming taxes. When the Shogun audited the local warlord, they found it to be "true", and the regional warlord was publicly beheaded for treason. I learned this story when visiting a museum on "ninja history" (and they openly admitted there was only so much they could know). They made a huge emphasis on the fact that although many shinobi were assassins, some of them specialized in using and manipulating the legal system to do the assassination for them. Even if the story isn't true per se, it was meant to convey the idea that the shinobi engaged in all kinds of complex statefare, espionage, book-keeping, eco terrorism... anything to complete their goals.

The commentary about Iga commented on by the owner of this video deserves a special mention. He really researches it well. Iga was a sphere of influence created by a group of people called “AKU-TOU(悪党)stray or Outcast(difficult to translate)” who gathered together in opposition to the power of the Samurai and ruled over a vast area of land as an independent council group. As this ruling system was established, they honed his own espionage skills and eventually came to serve Samurai rulers throughout Japan. Among these was one of the most famous ninja, Hattori Hanzo, who served the Tokugawa family. As you know, Hattori Hanzo was not only a samurai of the Tokugawa family, but also a chieftain of the ninja. Together with Momochi and Fujibayashi, they are known as the three great "high glade class ninja" of Iga. Iga was not a secret hiding place, but a strategic point of transportation in Japan. The Oda family sent an army to control the area, but they were resourceful enough to defeat the Oda forces on their own(First Tensho Iga Rebellion). However, their rebellion incurred the wrath of Nobunaga, and the Iga were eventually destroyed in a terrible battle known as the Second Tensho Iga Rebellion. I'm really glad you're looking into this background properly. It doesn't seem like UBI did as much research as he did.

The protagonist looks at the rice planting and whispers about a good harvest. A square tatami mat that was never supposed to be used for a castle. For some reason, the torii gate serves as the gate to the village. The way the helmet is worn and the way the sword is held are also different. There is no end to the list of strange depictions. If you do even a little research on Japan, you'll realize that all of this is wrong. This was just a lack of homework. Despite making it so sloppily, the developer says this: ``Yasuke is a great samurai'' ``Creation based on history''``I want people who are familiar with Japanese history to look forward to it.'' You're very good at jokes. That's probably what the developers thought.Samurai and ninja are popular, so let's make a game set in Japan. However, it's a pain to research, so I'll just make the atmosphere more Japanese-like. All you have to do is do a sloppy job. Creating a fictional myth of a great black samurai also ensures diversity. The concept art was completed by pasting the work of a Japanese creator without permission! Ah, This game is great in the sense that it makes Japanese people uncomfortable.

The TV series Shogun showed a more believable interpretation of a female assassin too. For starters she looked like a mere servant so she was able to inflitrate the castle. She didn't fight with superhuman speed or anything and like any good assassin she avoided a head to head confrontation and used the environment to get an advantage in a split second against some of her unsuspecting victims. However, once she is fighting Torinaga in a fair fight and the samurai are alerted that there is an assassin and know her location, she is in a bad spot as any assassin would be. It looks like AI was used in the concept art. Here's a list of reasons why: There are no monkeys with long tails in Japan. Japanese houses are made of wood, so if they were to grow moss like that, they would rot and collapse. That expression could only be possible with stone construction. The sliding doors have no rails. There are two sliding doors placed in the width of a single sliding door. One sliding door has a double layer in the middle. There are parts where the tatami floor is a different color, it's nonsense. It is obviously impossible for a house to have sliding doors on three sides. Japanese people take off their shoes at the entrance, so there should be a step between the floor and the ground, but there isn't one.

I see Ubisoft defenders saying that AC games aren't historically accurate, but Ubisoft has always claimed the opposite. If Ubisoft wasn't constantly claiming their games are true to history, I don't think as many people would take issue with them. But the company constantly pretends to take the high-road, both intellectually and morally. There have been plenty of games set in a fantastical version of a historical setting, filled with a ton of goofy things. And people were okay with those games. But the developers weren't claiming that demons, monsters and robot arms are true to history. They just wanted to make a fun game that people aren't supposed to take too seriously.

@@LaPtaVerdad 1) If you are asking in terms of mechanics, that would be because AC has become more combat oriented in the latests releases, so this was the compromise of having a combat oriented character and a stealth one. If your question is more broad, I don’t know why you guys act as if outsider stories are not some of the most popular in media. As if a foreigner becoming a samurai doesn’t elicit the response. Wow. How did that happen? I want to know that story. It’s not like we’re hurting for games with japanese samurai. 2/3) I very vividly remember that you could hide from guards in full gear by merely standing between monks with white robes. Because the protagonists have ALWAYS been the least inconspicuous mfs with their hoods and gear. They always looked like anime protagonists in a crowd of bland npc. But somehow those cases are played off as haha game logic, and this is a sin. You are the npc arguing in bad faith and regurgitating talking points that make no sense for someone that plays videogames. For all you know they also check you and attack you. You haven’t even played the game. 4) As far as I’m aware they dropped the Desmond story line after 4, which lets be honest it always was the weakest part of every AC game. I never cared for any modern stuff. 5) There is something very insidious about stating that you could never make a game about Yasuke without being propaganda. Like the mere existence of a minority is a politically motivated crime, rather than merely being a story that is objectively interesting to tell. And let’s remember, he was an historical figure. Same with the female shinobi. But no, every game has to cater to your every whim otherwise it’s propaganda. Like the political messages about freedom and what not aren’t propaganda but the black guy is. And even then AC has never been 100% historical as they always mess with stuff. Adam and eve, literal magic, a working prototype of a DaVinci flying machine, Templars being this undying organization that want to enslave humanity. But somehow we draw the line at the black guy that actually existed.

@@DanJuega Assassin's Creed is an extremely famous and popular IP, it's practically the Batman of video games (yes I know there are also Batman games don't be pedantic), so the first AC game being set in Japan was kind of a big deal given that in spite of the fantastical elements, the AC series has still traditionally paid attention to historical detail. After all this is the series that made a near 1:1 laser scan of the Notre Dame cathedral, which was consulted for the purpose of reconstruction after the fire. So for an insanely popular series made by Canadian devs (and Canadians are basically Americans as far as most of the world is concerned) to choose as its debut title in Japan the one black dude in their premodern history is absolutely political, because it's a statement from the American-ish (again Canada's just a de facto colony of the US) entertainment industry that Japan needs "diversity" in precisely the way that Americans understand "diversity." Yasuke would be perfect in a game like Nioh, but making him the face of the first AC game set in Japan is basically Ubisoft declaring him as the face of Japan itself. And considering that Rahm Emanuel and other DNC cronies are actively targeting Japan for their DEI crap, it's not just a matter of some devs thinking that Yasuke is just really cool.

The dumbest guards on the planet could keep this one guy from sneaking past, and could be pretty certain if he somehow did who it was who killed their boss. "Sarge, the suspect fled!" "Oh shit!
