A great day of late spring surf fishing on Assateage Island VA. Big Bluefish, Red Drum, Black Drum, Southern King fish and a very feisty Shark.

Nice fish! I just started fishing AI this year, on the OSV. It’s been a blast! My last trip this year will be the last 9 days of October for the Striper and drum run. Maybe I’ll see you down there. Tight lines!

Any tips on bait I should use on a fish finder rig? Thinking about heading out there sometime this week hoping to come across black drum or anything that bites really

Awesome man! I'm taking my kids down there at the beginning of October. My son and I each have a surf rod but it's been over a decade since I really fished the surf. You have any tips? I don't even remember what lb test I'd want to be using

If you like braid, go with 50lb @Kastking. If monofilament is your preference, look at Suffix Tritanium 17lb. Work the Sloghs and Rips with a nice big chunk of cut bait for trophy Red Drum. Have a blast.

Coming to assateague July is that a good time to fish at assateague. What bait should I use. Awesome fish.

July will be mostly Southern King Fish, Spot, Silver Perch and a few small Bluefish. Use a high low bottom rig or fireball rig with Fishbites Blood Worms you can get at Captain Steves. 4 and 5 ft sharks on chunks of cut Bunker can be caught in the early evening. Have fun

What bait were you using in this video?

Peeler crabs for the Red Drum, salted frozen clams for the Black Drum (tipped with fishbites), cut Bunker for the Bluefish and a fresh Southern Kingfish head for the shark
