Got a question for you Pairs. At 3:50 you say, "The highest threat area is definitely this corridor so I'ma have to allocate combat power appropriately in that area." However, you then only put two of your eight guys on it. Oversight or did you think they were going to be sufficient to control that area?

I thought a machine gun and sniper would be able to control it. Never planned to try and clear it with them. Just wanted to hold the flank. The suppression mechanics got me. Should have breached/smoked/flashed at the same time and I would have been ok up top and down low. Next time I'm not fucking around.

Suppression is the best thing that the Devs have added. Not to be mean but CPG was making it look too easy and now it is a real challenge. I expect that CPG will be taking a VERY conservative approach from now on as losing guys on every level is not great. It would be nice to have some videos on what is upcoming in terms of updates to the game and what changes are needed.

With these new suppression mechanics, it seems like the game is really encouraging you to perform tactical flanking maneuvers on enemy positions. Getting into a straight gunfight seems to cause forces to trade evenly, which is absolutely not the ideal situation. Maybe try opening up sectors of fire designed to get the enemy's attention on a single man or a pair of guys while they're hunkered down and tossing handhelds, minimizing the amount of munitions they're exposed to, while another force maneuvers against them.

Feel you'd have been better served by either a) setting up a proper battle position of at least 4 guys dug in behind the hummers before blowing the top gate, then waiting until they had cleared out the enemy gun nests before trying to move in on the lower breach, or b) not breaching the top at all and taking out those guns by flanking them from the lower breach.

13:52 Use all available resources. You discovered that you had no wall charges to get through the fence. But if you fell back you could pop a grenade near the fuel tank and that would have done the job for you. Its the same down the bottom left when you started the run. If you opened the bottom breach just a bit further north, it would also blow the fuel tank and gain entry to the hostage building.

Using HE to set off a secondary explosion to gain entry is a big no-no in hostage rescue. I wouldn't think about trying it because of how many things can go wrong.

Or how about lobbing grenades into the yard with the pipes when you don't know if there are any civilians there. I know that he tries to play realistically, but even he bends the rules.

I believe it’s possible to blow up the fences with frags. So if you need to go through them you can just use a frag… (If you take a closer look at the replay at 25:15 you can see fences flying away after the frat goes off)

The two good methods of clearing this level is either using lots of HE thrown over the starting wall onto known enemy positions, or sending all eight through a breach in the south and outflanking the enemy in the north. Either way, drummer got lucky killing that executioner! Best practice for this level is to go through the fence on the left by using the propane tank to detonate and clear it. Multiple simultaneous breaches to get all the executioners quickly.

I managed to three star this mission by committing everybody to the machine gun nest. I brought three support units and had one of them suppress the machine gun nest in the center of the map, while the other two suppressed down the street. I had two grenadiers launch grenades at the main entrenchment and by that point, all of the enemies were either suppressed or dead. This allowed me to commit four rangers to save the hostages in the factory at the back of the map, while the rest saved the hostage in the south side building. There is some RNG as to whether or not your support kills the center MG nest, but once you jump that initial hurtle, the rest is rather straight forward.

My sollution for clearing this level was to prep suspected enemy battle positions in the top corridor with frags just before the breach. Other than that I choose the same lower breaches as you did, but I had a wall charge left to go straight through the wall at the end of the top "corridor". Worked like a charm and no need for a deliberate clearance.

Hey CP, just a quick tip. You can toss handhelds over those tall compound walls if you have enough standoff. Should help soften up areas you expect resistance from during breach. Seeing you play this map makes me want to go back and replay it now that my gunners can lay down suppression. I'd think that'd come in clutch for those long barricaded lanes.

That's the best part about this game to me though. It brutally highlights any mistakes you make, which helps me improve the next run. I honestly think this game could be a useful tool for some military leadership training classes.

I had a tonne of fun with this map today, working my way through the challenges. On these bigger maps the plotting gets a bit cluttered as it builds up but it is so satisfying to run them once complete.

Did my first blind clear on this level. Used a similar tactics, however, I led with flashbangs and frags because I knew there would be some kind of MG sitting in the sandbags in the middle of the driveway, it kept my guys from getting slaughtered by whatever insurgent force was sitting in those bags, I recommend you lead with frags and flashes when going into an open area like that.

I put 2 grenediers, 2 support on the northern flank and 4 assaulters with mid/long range on the bottom, breached both flanks as you did except I laid down 2 smokes on the northern corridor to cover my grenediers so that they would be able to use their launchers to safely neutralize the MG fortifications, then whatever was left had to fight against 2 supports that were already aimed. On the bottom I put all 4 guys more or less on top of each other to maximize the amount of output. Overall, only minor injuries if any at all.

A question from someone who knows very little about how the military works: Would a facility this large and defended like this really be assaulted in real life by just 8 people? I’d imagine that going in with 8 people into a building defended by some machine guns with the defenders advantage without outnumbering them almost seems suicidal!

They would try to outnumber the targets by at least 3:1 But for the sake of gameplay, the numbers are usually 1:8

Ideally? Hell fucking no. You'd have drone recon and helo air support, while breaching from multiple directions with a full platoon in an ideal scenario. But real-world doesn't always cooperate. Maybe air assets are needed elsewhere. Maybe you've got a major operation going on elsewhere sucking up manpower. Maybe your platoon leader pissed off the battalion XO and now he's fucking all of you over by denying assistance. You've got intel that there are hostages here NOW but they might not be there in a few hours. You have to go NOW, and you only have eight men? Sometimes, it fucking sucks and you just have to do it.

I just breached along the wall next to the hostage green zone. so my guys immediately had cover behind those cars. As I blew the wall, I threw some smoke in front of the cars and had my machine gunner push through and fire through the smoke as the fireteam set up. By the time the smoke cleared, the machine gun nest was knocked out or whoever was left was suppressed and grenades could solve the rest. I had a 2nd team take the first hostage exactly like you did as the previous bit was happening. Then it was just piece-mealing the rest of the compound. No need to take a machine gun nest head on.

I wish they would do a campaign mode where if you lose a guy or he gets injured, he is either out permanently or he needs time to recover and heal before he can be used again. Or if a guy is injured, his stats take a slight hit. So if you finish a mission and click “proceed” any soldiers that are injured will have their stats slightly hindered for the next level. Depending on their injury, they may not be available for a couple levels etc… guys who were KIA are out permanently and they are replaced with another soldier who’s stats are base level. They used to do this with the old rainbow six games.

this map i got tired of the starting entrenchment and Go Coded a wall shot on the gate and blew the gate open as 3 people launched rockets at the closed gate aiming at each sandbag and just timed it insanely so i blew open the gate as the 3 rockets were in the air about to hit the gate. so all the baddys saw was the gate being blown off the hinges and 3 rockets flying through the smoke of the exploding gate

Only if there is a chance some T slipped a live frag under the body first (pulled the pin but used the body to hold the lever down)... Looting is generally a really bad idea, unless you're completely out of ammo and can't retreat. Besides the possibility of traps, the equipment you get is often of dubious quality and reliability, and the sound of your new weapon will confuse the heck out of your friends and seriously increases risk of friendly fire.

I feel like if your troopers are pinned, they should still be able to move but not shoot back. Because if you were getting shot at by multiple shooters, wouldn’t you be scrambling for cover instead of cowering in place where they can hit you?

Honestly I like it that way it punishes bad positioning, it goes back and forward ive been able to stop suicide bombers after kicking a door while the s-vest is stunned you can outrun him with an instant sprint and as soon as my ranger leaves the doorway instant suppression into a nade. I think that if we can move the enemy should be able to move to keep it balanced

I've noticed on bigger missions you lose the most people when your forces are split up into multiple teams. DK soldiers are blank slates. They are completely dumb without your input. With your input they are socom level units. Being human we tunnel vision on one fire team at a time. Sadly the ones without supervision are not competent to survive without those shifts in and out of cover, minor angle changes to get a shot, being told to stand or crouch, etc. So what am I trying to say here? In this mission I would have chosen ONE breach or two breaches very close to each other for angles reasons. They are your little baby chicks. Keep them all under the hen's eye. Once they escape your sight, the predators pick them off one by one. A big squad of 8 difficult to handle? Probably. Two shattered squads of 2-3 who are out of charges and handhelds and probably wounded? Also difficult. But you manage to wipe the map with those shattered remnants. Why? Because you control them. Awesome video as always dude. Talk about disparity of force.

Very accurate. I do what ole sarmage used to say. "Set piece, move piece." I like to break my squads down into two fire teams and bound with them. One team pulls security while the other maneuvers. Like you said, controlling two or more maneuvering groups is pretty rough. Other than that, gotta be super careful to not overexpose with those murder hole type breaches. I used to really like them, but with suppression mechanics it's really easy for multiple enemies to pour fire in and make your guys ineffective.
