The issue with the suppression mechanic is it doesn’t exactly work with the CQB theme, your operators aren’t going to freeze up in a doorway cause they’re taking rounds, they’re going to react to the threat and keep moving. Especially when you consider the game is replicating SOF
@YourPalKindred3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it feels rather antithetical to the theme and idea. You can't really be fast and lethal when you get immediately suppressed by a few rounds, especially when most of the time it's just random return fire. Suppression needs to be limited from guns that aren't MGs I think. Like yeah regular rifles can suppress, but I think it should certainly take more considering these guys are meant to be (I believe) Rangers and CQB specialists
@jordansomeone25553 жыл бұрын
Exactly what I said on the previous video, the natural response to getting shot at isn’t to freeze up in the doorway, but get back to cover (perhaps while being suppressed they won’t be able to shoot back but still be able to move).
@valek83313 жыл бұрын
@@jordansomeone2555 I agree. Hell, they shouldn't even take away any options from you. The suppressed person should be able to shoot with decreased accuracy, and if they peek out while being suppressed, maybe there should be an fairly big increased chance of being hit?
@coryhoggatt76913 жыл бұрын
Spot on. There should be a difference in reaction between trained soldiers and militia rabble. Last video Pairs lost all three guys to sub guns that pinned the guy being hit long enough to finish him off. In reality, banging a few pistol caliber rounds off a Ranger’s plate is probably just going to piss him off.

@@JJoJam I really don't like any of the timed missions also. While yes, those type of situations exist (well the hostage one. @@snipegrzywa The original Rainbow 6 did bomb defusal missions, but the bombs weren't on a timer. They could be detonated manually by terrorists if you were discovered or as a secondary from handheld explosives or being shot.
@snipegrzywa3 жыл бұрын
@Squant I used the word “premise” for a specific reason. My views of the game are based on what the developers, or at least their marketing team, has put out about the game. This leads me to a certain point of view what to expect. I never said that the game is not the game they designed. Hell, I never even said they should change it or remove those types of missions! I was stating they are contradictory to the published info about the game. Furthermore, off the bat, as someone who paid money for content, I have every right to critique it. I have a right to my opinion. And I have a right to discuss said opinion. This isn’t complaining for the sake of complaining. But to further back my point, here are some straight quotes from their website: “Command military Special Ops Teams in gripping tactical combat …” “… Task Force North brings you the best portrayal of modern Close Quarters Combat and Tactics in video game.” “… is a top down strategy and tactics game about using intelligence assets and controlling Special Operation Units in daring raids to neutralize and capture terrorists…” “Realistic but action packed” “Non-linear levels, multiple paths …” There is literally NOTHING about timed missions in either their website or steam page. The closest you might say is the “daring raids”. While throwing smoke/concs and dashing is a “Tactic”, its not a realistic tactic . Most of those missions also require you to basically sprint to the location of hostage/bomb. This by definition is linear. I can’t design a mission to do what I want. I am forced to play it a certain way. And that is NOT CQB! I have every right to say the game doesn’t play the way the game as marketed. And you are right. I would love to have more non-timed missions. I hope the devs stop making timed missions in future content. However, I’m also not saying that I’m gonna quit the game or demand a refund if they don’t do that, cause you are right, its their game and they can make it however they want.

There is definitely a lot micro management in this game, it took me a while to get used to doing it fast and effectively considering how brutal it can get, but in the end you're in control and responsible for every move they make and where they look. The thing with ankward angles and cross coverage like at 28:25 is that you need to be aware of the other angles that you're triggering while covering your buddies, in this case the guy on the left covered right but if you pay attention he also triggered an angle that his buddy couldn't secure so he died... ( I know you're a veteran and probably know this or maybe hell, you've even been in that same situation but I just wanted to point it out ) The game can be frustrating, there's obviously some RNG, but like XCOM, there's ways to put the odds in your favor.. and if you push through it's very rewarding and satisfying. I share your frustration on civilians though, because holy shit they're dumb in this game. Same for some mission objectives that you need to fail at least once to see what the game wants from you.. I three star'd single plan'd all the missions in the first game and i'm pretty proud of it ( almost broke my keyboard doing some of these.. ) but I'm still learning how to be more efficient.. that's how deep this game is, it requires extreme awareness and precision, just like IRL I guess. Here's a cool playlist on CQB training for y'all that read this wall, check out the one called wingman cornering, you'll be able to apply it to DK :D kzbin.info/aero/PLOv4gE-dhrTBknVIi9Ey8B7Anx80C21n7

I think it would be interesting if they changed the time bomb mechanic to start the timers whenever you become compromised. It would feel a little more realistic (imo) and allow for a little more wiggle room in how you can approach/complete the objective.

I think this wil be especially good whenever they add covert operators into the game. Depending on how that works you could absolutely exploit that element of surprise. Locating the bomb and maybe even defusing it before being discovered.

Just to slightly rub it in, you actually splashed two civvies in that final runthrough. Yes there's the one you highlight, where your LMG tags the civilian coming around the corner on that center building at 28:53; but even before that when your lower (southern?) assaulter first pushes out of the starting structure at 23:40 you actually have a civilian run in front of your MP5 and go down. It's not my top thing for them to fix, but I am hoping before full release we get a boost to civilian AI so they might do things like run AWAY from ordnance instead of just scattering in ways that are sometimes nonsensical.

When you want to open door and flash it you can throw flash and only then open the door. This helps to reduce possible reaction from enemies. And the easiest it can work with - wall explosives (because they open instantly). You might as well just bind these 2 actions on different go codes
@Londronable2 жыл бұрын
That upper structure you highlighted seems to be something that seperates the gas from the oil if I'm not mistaken. An American and his wife that tried to save him later on actually died because of the gasses that escaped during a malfunction.

I think there's an argument to be made that this level is poorly designed from a gameplay perspective. It's essentially and deliberately impossible to complete with only the information given at the start; so you have to die at least once to reveal the critical details. But that also means learning other things (enemy and civilian positions,etc) so you may as well have started with perfect knowledge of the map. Oh, and that guy hiding behind the i beam was bullshit, purely a case of the designer punishing you for completing the level in the only way they allowed. I'm not surprised you're frustrated!

That shit was bad enough, so I can say with complete certainty that I'm not looking forward to this fustercluck.
@macdjord3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I wasn't at all surprised you failed the first attempt. This was a timed mission, yet you kept moving one single force at a time and waiting until it was done before you moved to another. You absolutely *have* to keep all your forces moving and acting. Never unpause until every unit has an order. (Sometimes that order will be 'stay where you are and cover this direction', but that needs to be a deliberate decision on your part.)
@macdjord3 жыл бұрын
Even in your final, successful run, you do the same, although less so. If you'd kept the upper force moving instead of focusing on the lower force while they stood around, you' dhave had a few more seconds to sweep and clear the room and catch that guy behind the pillar.

Units can only do one command per node. So if you tell someone to open a door AND hold an angle, they'll only do the last command. If you tell them to go quiet AND hold an angle, they'll only do the last command. Crouch, run, open doors, hold angles, look in a direction, throw frags, put charges on doors, change guns - only one can be done per node.

In the final run, the guy that died in the bottom died because the one providing cross coverage was way too far back to see all the space that could see the guy that got shot. Sometimes this makes sense when all they can do is hold a position for security and waiting for the other team. But there's a lot of time they could be working independently. I would love to see a replay where everyone is moving forward at once and nobody is sitting idle. I think this would make for amazing replays.
