Here we continue our simple card wallet by gluing the pockets on and using our stitching chisels to punch our hand-sewing holes. The saddle stitch is used to sew most leather projects together. In the next video we will learn to finish the edges.

Just found your channel. I was recently gifted a 20 year collection of tools. I am still learning what each thing is/ does. Today I finally found what the glass slicker is! I've been learning since February of this year and I only regret not getting into this earlier! Thank you for the vids!

Just finished my first hand sewing with leather (actually first sewing with anything) and it came out pretty darn good. I've looked at a lot of videos about saddle stitching and there were so many steps that those people made square dancing look simple. Thank you for making it accessible and FUN!

If you're impatient like me, or your shop is a bit cold, you can use a heat gun (paint stripper etc.) to make the glue dry faster. Only takes a few seconds to dry that way. Only do this with water-based glue though. With solvent-based, you could set it on fire!

Sup Aaron great video on saddle stitching I see that you didn't cast the needle through the whole just saying paying attention to the details Aaron just an idea double loop stitch would look pretty good with that project just saying Aaron have a great day in the shop Aaron and Jeannie Sue my friends peace out Aaron!🇺🇸

This video is designed for high school students. Sometimes I cast, sometimes I don’t. Both ways can create a nice stitch with a different look.

Is there like a mathematical formula for calculating how big a piece of leather to use for a given project? I’d like to make my own wallet pattern.

Nice work. So you don't loop your thread as you stitch?

Sometimes I do and sometimes I do not. It depends on the stitching chisels I’m using. If I’m using these that create big diamond holes I do not cast through. When using the angled holes that are more like tight slits, I do cast through.

I have been wondering why people don’t use a groover to lay the stitching in. Is it just personal preference?

Because it weakens the leather by removing the top grain its a old technique , you want modern 2024 techniques the best vid series watch Nigel at Armitage
