Exactly what I was about to say. You've not only told us how to do it, but you've shown us what to be aware of. Thank you. It's really easy to mess up. Your video is the best one I've found.

This is the most realistic Ikea build I've seen. Thank you, was helpful for me building my desk. (Also, a little contact paper will cover that up and add some character to your desk).

I felt your pain, I had a white ikea linnmon desk top, within days there was a dark mark which I thought was a mark had the turned out to be a scratch. Never knew what did it. Filled it in with white nail polish.

You can use plastic plugs instead of screws to secure the table to its base. This will prevent damage to the surface of the table.

Thanks for the info, but I think I made the damage while drilling into it, if I remembee right 🤭

I am going to convert a 120cm Trotten desk into a 160cm one. I am also going to put a music keyboard drawer under it (it is for a home studio). So if I understand, The 120 and the 160 are exactly the same stuff except for the table top ?... After watching, I think I am going to buy a 30mm wood table top and wood screws. Thank you for sharing your experience !
@UltimateDIY Жыл бұрын
Yes, if you buy the stand only, it's the same one for all sizes.

don't forget there is a rather low weight limit on these desks

I'm in the same situation. I bought the legs but they don't have an estimated date for when they will produce the matching table top again. I bought a table top from another company and have never tried anything like this before 😬 thank you for sharing your experience and wish me luck!

Best of luck! Try to use shorter screws than I did 😊 (maybe even some really strong double sided tape could replace the screws)

Just completed my build following your video. Luckily all parts were available. Thanks man. So far so good. Solid but bit of a wobble when at my standing desk height. I would not recommend leaning on it if you have 2x 24inch creams on the desk. Other than that it is a decent steady build
@UltimateDIY2 жыл бұрын
I agree, at max it can wobble if you lean on it, but also the ones that we have at work do the same and they are "professional" grade. So it might be normal in the end.
@Luka1180 Жыл бұрын
If you notice wobbling, it's because you haven't fastened all screws all the way. I had wobble, thought it was strange, really put my strength into turning what could be turned a bit more, and it 100% disappeared.
@UltimateDIY Жыл бұрын
In my case it's just the limited rigidity of the table top.
@Camerman22 жыл бұрын
I have a weird question, how mush does the table lift when you do a turn of the crank? I'm think about motorizing it diy style but I don't what what power I'll need for the electric motor
@UltimateDIY2 жыл бұрын
From what I see it lifts about 5mm for each full turn of the crank.

@UltimateDIY - Copy that & thank you! Also, as many others have commented, I don't think the holes are a big deal. Others can still benefit from your experience/missteps, so the information is useful.

Hi, how do you like the desk so far? How's the stability? I'm not sure to either get this or the idasen non-motorized one. Idasen one is 20 euros more expensive than Trotten, yet it doesn't give you ability to use it while standing. I assume that Idasen probably is indeed more stable than trotten if it's more expensive? I'm only going to use it for sitting, the height adjustment on both of them is a really big plus to fit my personal neeeds. Cheers!
@UltimateDIY2 жыл бұрын
Hi. It's quite a stable and strong desk. I don't think you will be dissapointed. About Idasen I have no idea, because I never saw it in person.
@marvean25192 жыл бұрын
I have the Idasen, it's really sturdy. And ss much as I like though, the fact that it's not sit/stand is a major bummer. So I'm personally gonna get a sit/stand to replace it.

My right leg was not aligned properly with the beam that was meant to support the tabletop. I have contacted Ikea, let's see what they say.
@UltimateDIY Жыл бұрын
They usually replace damaged stuff. Unless you find a way to fix it yourself, so you don't have to wait for a new piece.
