I think Gail's people have found out about Richard as this video would never have happened otherwise. Richard makes the mystery of transmissions entertaining and very educational to the growing audience. No one would have guessed that a transmission shop KZbin channel would have been a thing. My wife and I halfway through this video were discussing this very topic . And did you see those planetaries ?! My God, those things are massive.

Such kind and caring people. They deserve some love. Seriously. Maybe do some kind of collaborative effort with them to help spread the word about their business/channel. It’s so refreshing to see a president of a company actually know the ins and outs of their product without just reading off a sales sheet. The fact that Clint can casually assemble a transmission from scratch while talking us through the function of each piece is proof that he knows his stuff! @@bankspower The "built for TV" aspect kind of turned me off, and seemed somewhat disingenuous. I think a lot of viewers that are watching this are hard core DIY mechanics and enthusiasts of diesel performance, and would love to see a "real" build without the fluff.

@@2511jeremy I guess we will see. I feel they really dropped the ball in partnership research. Go to any diesel page and ask about these transmission. 80% are dissatisfied and have gone through several transmissions and ended up going with a different company. Clearly by the way these comments are going it’s a common opinion. I have no first hand experience with them so I don’t have a real opinion, besides all the negative I’ve seen on multiple pages, videos, and groups. I’m all for Improvement and making a better name for yourself. I guess we will see if they are heading in that direction. An input shaft for a seal driver dosnt help their cause tho lol

@@bradfordcustoms7588 Here's the thing about groups, and old-school online forums.. when's the last time you posted about that amazing cheeseburger you had or the great 75W90 rear gear oil? What we're saying is that online groups are typically places where people gather to commiserate rather than celebrate. For example, there are approximately 86,000 Duramax-powered trucks produced per year. Of those 86k truck owners, only a fraction are online and when they do go online, it's typically to ask a question about a problem they're facing. So, as you're scrolling through groups you're not seeing the vast majority of Duramax owners are driving their trucks problem-free. We believe that could also be the case with ATS. They sell thousands of transmissions. Regardless, we'll be transparent with our experience.

Had an Allison in our c5500 they don't make trucks like them no more. With 4 tonnes of salt in the dump she still lit up the tyres.

I was wondering the same thing. Every transmission build I've seen, they soak the clutches. Is there a way to prime the clutches after assembly? Or was this video just for show, and they will assemble it correctly later?

They probably got soaked while in the transmission test, just not during assembly. It's a bit different, I think, than putting it into a vehicle and having the customer just drive off. But, I was wondering the same thing.

Love the Banks videos but you can have your ATS and deep pockets. I am protecting my customers from getting shafted by ATS like several of them already have. I will stick with a list of the other transmission shops I use who stand behind their products with great customer service.

I had one rebuilt locally, getting a light drip from filter area. Believe it's running out the access hole from pump area. What's most likely cause? Orings? I'm gonna take it back but want more info

@@markbremmer8642 Some of the dynos have an external pump that fills the transmission through the cooler lines and test ports. Even with that, it seems that it would be difficult to get the friction material wet while stacked in the clutch packs. Maybe they soak their discs and set them aside to drip off before assembly?

I still can't for the life of me understand why ya'll have such a hard on for the Allison transmission. My only guess is becuae it is going to be an engine/transmission offered together for one price. For building a no holds show vehicle, it is a huge let down. Tellin ya, should have just went with a ZF6 Like what GM offered in the LB7 and LLY. On top of that, ATS has some of the worst history of holding together. This just isn't my opinion either. Vast amounts of information can be found easily online about them.
