Thank you so much for your videos, i have learnt many useful things. I am 18 and about 2 months ago started practicing blacksmithing, got really interested in it. It was a bit hard for me to find or make myself everything i need for getting started. Your vids help me a lot to learn and get different ideas

Lots of fit and finish so much enjoy the video ( believe reminds me of DP in the Forge videos I so enjoyed his crafting). Again you give us a test and the answer unless we copy we won't learn near as much. Thanks for the teaching Sir, Yeah you are a hard act to follow

Heavy security just slows them down. A Sawzall will cut it's own door beside the locked one! Nice project. ✌ 😃

Hello John What a beauty. This lock looks very good and do their job . To think of what we keep in our barn is a good idea 😉😉 I have a old house from 1883 and some of the doorlocks outside are forged and do their job since the building of my house . Nice Thanks for the tips , I'll clean out my barn today. This is on my project list, although my sketches had left the "kiss" methodology and I now had a much too difficult pattern to work with. Thanks for bumping me out of my groove!

Love this stuff! This is exactly the type of stuff I'm interesting in forging myself. While other channels make knives and swords, I'm so glad you're sticking to the classics: tools, hooks, latches, etc.

What is that contraption you use to light your oxy/acetylene torch?? I’m a welder and I use a torch every day, I would love to find out how you’re lighting it that quickly and with one hand. Thank you!! Love your content, I’m a beginner blacksmith and have learned so much from you. Keep it up!

Its a gas saver. Fuel and oxygen in with a shut off you hang the torch from and a pilot light. Mine is made by Smith.

Would it be possible it divot or sink the plate so the rivets lay flat on the door? Great work!

Flush rivets in the thin mounting plate wouldn't be as strong. But with a thicker plat it would work

What a gorgeous project! And for me, I never have a problem if you decide to use modern or traditional methods to get the job done, unless you're restoring some heirloom piece just do whatever work!

How come you spent so much time filing the tenons? I would of thought you would get it close and then heat in forge and hammer it in? Just curious! Thanks!

You could use a small length of rod to "fill" the hole while peening the first tenon to prevent deforming it.

Good job . Some times it's best to use all the technology we have available to us . I do like old fashioned way however for fit and finish or just don't want it to rattle your ears off

Hi John, very nice project, really beautiful..... When the FBI comes... LOL. But I've a question. Can you please tell me what the size of your dies in the blacksmith magician is (l x w x h). In Europe it's hard to find the blacksmith magician.

roughly 20 x 50 x 100mm. But these are made in so many variations you can do just about anything to suit your needs. Finding a readily available stock size for the dies then making the tool to fit is a good way to go.
