We're assembling the Super Split HD log splitter with the extra-wide production table. This kinetic splitter has been at the top of the wood splitter world since it was patented in 1978. The machine itself is rugged and stout, and definitely built to last. With a cycle time of about 2 seconds, you won't find yourself with time to daydream while processing your firewood. :)
The HD model has the upgraded flywheels (90 lbs instead of 75 lbs) to power through even the toughest wood. It also has the 6.5 HP Honda motor, upgraded from the 5.5 HP that the J model has. I ordered mine with the extra-wide production table and the tow hitch - it cost a little extra and took a little more time to get, but it was worth every penny.
This video focuses on the assembly, but we'll put the unit through its paces in another video. Hope you enjoy! The manufacturer makes the build-out about as simple as could be hoped for... Game time!

Thank you. How did the assembly go? And how are you liking it? Pretty slick, right? :)

Now that it has been a little bit, how do you like it? Have you had a chance to put it through its paces? Mine is still rock solid. And I'm glad the video was helpful. Have a great holiday season!

@@coyote12workshop Rock solid is a good description. At the age of 73, hand splitting is not as much fun as it once was. My electric J model Super Split is quiet, powerful and fast. Right now, it is resting comfortably in the garage, waiting for next year's cutting. Best thing I have bought in a long time.

Excellent video. Please give caution if ever a piece of wood gets stuck on the ram. Shut engine off when prying on wood because you can engage the ram unintentionally. I have a video on KZbin explaining this further. Enjoy that machine, it gives you back your Saturdays.

Great point. That could be a bad day. Like you said, that machine is certainly a force multiplier - it feels like a cheat code compared to what I was using before. Haha. Thanks again.

Thanks, Tim! :) Single digit subscriber - love it. Only a few will have that "honor". Hahaha. Hopefully you'll like the other videos we put together - We'll try to keep them moving at the same pace.

With MY sons help, I’d have to add days to my build time. 🤣

@@otiselevator7738 You make a very good point. :) He will be getting lots of time in the wood yard - just like my dad did for me, I will make sure he is confident in his mechanical aptitude (and that he represents himself well - haha). Thanks for watching!
