Definitely some very nice improvements. The light should be really useful and the improved stepper motors more precise. Like the substantial control box connections. Thank you for the update. Everyone stay safe, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia.

The entry level CNC is a bit of a beast in disguise, chunky closed loop steppers and 300w spindle. Finally they've added support for the middle spoilboard flexing! Sadly still belt drive, but bigger machines have survived many years on belts, small machines have a bad experience with them. Maybe the torque in bigger steppers will prevent losing steps with closed loop circuits

Belt + Nema23 Closed Loop Stepper Motors can get a great balance between CNC carving and laser engraving.

A very well produced video as always James. The Nema 23 closed loop steppers are great....but belt drive??? I would rather have open loop steppers and a decent drive system like leadscrews or ballscrews IMHO.

Very new to CNC Routers. I purchased a cheap 3018 3 weeks ago but had no luck in maintaining reliable control with UGS or the offline controller. Sent it back and looking for something else. I've been watching hours of KZbin instruction and have found your channel to be the best. One question I've not found an answer to is - when an engraving area is spec'd (e.g. 400mm x 400mm) is that the actual range of the center of spindle x-y movement? Is the spoil board larger that? Thanks.

Great video. My question is, even with the improved stepper motors for more precise movements how much is lost with the belt drives over screw jacks?

Nice video mate will foxAlien be doing an expansion kit for it?
@natechan25865 ай бұрын
Yes, they do offer an extension kit.

James, one off topic question. When I type a 1 in UGS console the spindle directly start to move. When try to type “x120”, the moment I type the one, the cnc start to move. Hope you or someone else will help me, looking now for days in UGS and the internet, but its hard to find when you have ne idea what to ask

How can the controller manage the closed loop alarm signal if there isn't a cable from the motor to the controller for that ??
@Eric19605 ай бұрын
Controller is in the motor

@@Eric1960 Of course, the encoder is in the motor controller, but there isn't a cable from the motor to the cnc controller to manage the error signal generated by the encoder
@JamesDeanDesigns5 ай бұрын
There are two separate cables coming out of the stepper motor
@Eric19605 ай бұрын
@@IceCreams62 you mean the err cable. Your right 👍👍but this is when the controller is not able to fix the problem. When he lost steps he can adjust it directly

Dear James, the quality of your videos is great. Unfortunately, this machine deserves your famous question "Why?". This one doesn't make any sense. Why instead of a reno around $400 (or many similar all metal, belt driven, wheel based 4040 machines around that price) would someone get this one for 1000? Why put a closed loop system on a belt driven 4040 machine and push the price to 1K? Cheers

My frustration with the Reno was that they prioritised it over things they had already promised existing customers which I didn't feel was fair, and they fact they had never produced a belt driven machine before so it seemed out of the norm for them other than to compete with FoxAlien. But I accpet there are a group of people who appreciate the Reno being released. In regards to this machine - The reason they have done it is because quite a lot of people were trying to do it themselves on the original Masuter Pro but it got messy because you needed a new control for the larger stepper motors. I think most people will be happy with the new Masuter 3 but it will lack torque. There will be a group of people wanting the closed loop steppers for the extra power but also the higher speeds from these motors. Ive not tested anything yet so time will tell.

Those are some beefy motors, good for extra torque and holding power.
