Hi Will, I totally love your stuff! I am an amateur mechanic so bearings and things are of interest to me. Does that glue really work? I have a hard time imagining it working I guess. In Australia there is a product called " loctite" which is popular but I have never had occasion to use it.

Thanks so much. Yes the glue is very strong. Loctite 480 is the specific product I use for stainless to stainless

Wonderful sculptures. Is there 1 bearing in the housing and one at the bottom of the shaft? What is the piece that goes into the bearing in the housing? Is it some king of shaft collar or maybe another (3rd bearing)? All the best to you.

So to go inside the blocked end tube that I get milled to the bearing dimensions; on the bar is, bearing, shaft collar, a space, then shaft collar, bearing then circlip... I am happy to send you a design if you wanted. Email me

@@willcarr60 Thank you for the generous offer but I would like to figure it out on my own with the help of your short explanation above. Why not just widen the shaft in the middle section and thus avoid using the 2 shaft collars? I guess the screw that I see in the blocked tube is in between the 2 collars as a safety... Thanks again

@@ninjatrader6624 Yes this would also work having a wider shaft in the centre, the reason I don't is that it would require more milling work. I also tend to have the none bearing end of the bar slightly thicker diameter these days. This allows the bottom bearing to be pushed in easily to aid assembly when I ship around the world for self assembly.

@@WillCarrKineticSculpture Thank you for clarifying that. I guess using shaft collars allows for more flexibility if the length of the bearing housing changes. My only concern with shaft bearings is that the screws holding the collars may get loose because vibration but that could probably be solved with some Loctite.

@@ninjatrader6624 I see yeah, they definitely want high strength loctite, and also a locating hole in the bar for the crew thread so they are firmly attached... Let me know if you make anything

What kind of bearings are you using? Are you machining the tube you put them into so the ring clamp has a groove to go into!

Hi, I use stainless steel deep groove ball bearings, these are good at taking force in both planes. I get a company to machine the bearing housing with circlip groove yep...

some serious ugly tig welding there.....keep precticing..you'll eventually get better....
