"We do not have a drift mode, with a drift physics. You can drift any car in Assetto if you are good.." THIS GUY GETS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a gem of CEO/Dev
@KeiserHound2 ай бұрын
we'll see, all i heard was "we're banking on our physics and tyres being extremely accurate so the cars respond as they should under any condition inputs that would mirror real life" which im kinda doubting considering every single physics engine can be cheesed to have incredibly, almost unrealistic fast cars with alignments that would never work in the real world. you'd have to have an almost flawless physics engine in comparison to anything out today. tldr: theyre basically hyping up their physics to be a significant leap to any physics engine available to the public.
@verticalflyingb7372 ай бұрын
@@KeiserHound Well.. yeah..? Am I misunderstanding your stance? If you cheese a physics engine then what do you expect to happen? What do you think of some mechanism after you break it and then it doesn't work anymore?? NASA could release the most realistic physics engine of the century and, despite that, it could be instantly undermined by some Reddit user that messed with the game too far. The thing you instead should (actually, ALL of us should) keep being skeptical about is if the game would work perfectly under the same conditions it was advertised as. Not "what if the physics gets cheesed when someone cheeses the physics?"
@KeiserHound2 ай бұрын
@@verticalflyingb737 yeah, there’s a disconnect going on here. I personally don’t care if the physics can get cheesed. It’s a game engine, all it takes is one string of bad code and a miata could become a mag-lev train or you computer will constantly crash. I just doubt how well their physics engine is to make a claim such as no need to have drift physics. I’m all for the realism, I don’t want it to be easy, I’d play carx for that. But drifting is entirely different than grip racing, especially physics wise. So as much as they say that “if you’re good, you should be able to drift”, that doesn’t mean it’d be a semi-accurate representation of how it’d be in real life. The reason a brought up “cheesing the physics” is just to point of the general flaws physics engine work well within a given scope, so catch all, blanket statements like that sound terrible Id say it sounds like they’re trying to deflect some expectations but I honestly just think they’re extremely hyped and over promising. That’s really all. And it’s pretty stupid that physics can be cheesed. If people were to do it with mods, sure, that’s fair. But if base game cars can be cheesed by simply adding a bit of camber here, some toe there, etc etc, (take RFactor for example) that’s a just a short coming. If that breaks the physics engine, then it was just a very constrained physics engine in comparison to what they claimed
@theooooot9469Ай бұрын
@@KeiserHound seeing as how assetto Corsa already has amazing drift physics with no "drift mode" or any gimmicks. It's hard to see how they could downgrade. Not quite sure why you would be sceptical of this seeing as theyve already nailed the physics on their previous games and now they just have to improve the few things that lacked in the old physics engine.
@KeiserHoundАй бұрын
@ my skepticism comes from the fact they and you keep mentioning something that never existed. The base drift cars were ok from a beginners perspective. But they weren’t proper drift cars, nor did the old physics engine or tires play well when proper drift cars did come out in form of mods. Obviously it’s not all kunos fault, many tires exist in the world with many characteristics the fit different forms of motorsports better. But a lot of faults did exist in the old engine that people had to circumvent or ilja had to straight up change to make assetto what it is today. I have no doubts the engine will be great, but they’re making mountains out of mole hills and you falling for it. There’s no drift physics in real life, there were no drift physics in assetto, no drift physics in ACC, it’s all just physics, so making a statement like that seems more like a cover than an actual harp on the physics being what their bragging it to be. We’ll all see February whenever the early access comes out anyway. Who knows, maybe it’s the next best things since cellphones

I genuinely hope that Polyphony Digital is keeping a close eye on this game. They call themselves “the real driving simulator” they have focused incredibly heavily on racing and lost the sight on the tagline in their title. Not every driver is a racer nor dreams of such a thing. The best memories I have of any Gran Turismo title is of GT6, while having 1200+ cars was really nice the best feature I believe they had was one track, Circuito de la Sierra. It was a “race track” technically. It was so much more than that when the community interacted with it. It hosted races as well as cruise lobbies. I spent so many hours grabbing a car, modifying, and just cruising (sometimes racing and having spirited drives) parking and just hanging out. While fun as it is, the Tokyo Expressway doesn’t provide the same experience. They’ve (PD) added engine swaps which is INCREDIBLY FUN. I know Kaz was a great opponent against this addition. I’ve read somewhere that he owns cars with engine swaps. It’s taken him almost 30 years to add this feature. He has done interviews about his love for driving. Not racing. If he is so much a fan of cars, it is far beyond my simple understanding that he would simply gloss over a HUGE part of car culture. I’m not asking for an open world map the size of France to go driving on. I just have a simple request that he should focus on and accept. He has created an AMAZING GAME that has MILLIONS of diehard fans that don’t have the means or drive😂 to become the next world champion driver, focus on that aspect also and accept that people want to play a GAME at the end of the day and not grind to the top of an esports model. I have played and greatly enjoy the Horizon franchise (I even bought an Xbox just for that game) I am a PlayStation player. Kaz has alienated an entire culture of car lovers for the sake of racing. I have enjoyed Gran Turismo for 20 years because it is a game that has always focused heavily on details. What about the details of the entire car culture when you tagged yourself as “The Driving Simulator?” I don’t want to be Colin McRae, yet we have a lame attempt of rallying in Gran Turismo. I love Gran Turismo, I genuinely do, I’ve been frustrated for a long time that he made the decisions he made. I hope he pays attention and that Assetto Corsa EVO delivers on an amazing product.

Definitely not. You can tune in GT7 as well but online (official modes) the cars are equal.

JANUARY 16 is a day!!!! It’s coming to consoles too what is fantastic. I assume PS5/Xbox will get it bit later and this is a reason I got PC. I was going mad with all bugs on ACC console version, it always takes them sooo long to fix the issues. I do race ACC on console, it’s amazing to race in a league (10Tenth racing community) and crossplay with consoles made ACC more appealing and competitive. Good job Kunos guys.

They need to make a colaboration with the mod guys, the one who made the rain so realistic, those from sol, and pure, etc.
@NicolasSilvaVasault2 ай бұрын
naaah you can totally see how much love they put into this game, the free roaming part are good news, like Marco said, maybe you don't like to race on tracks but drive around and enjoy the views, like is exactly what people ended up doing with mods in ac 1, thanks for the team to make all the things we wanted from ac and becoming a reality, this will totally be the actual gran turismo killer

Thanks. And I know that TrueForce doesn't have the best reputation with some simmers, but good to know that it will be usable in Evo as it was in ACC.

To be honest, Assetto Corsas mod support was what made it remain one of the most played Racing Games, it is good that the Developer acknowledge that, what is a bit concerning is working with manufacturers, modders will be extremely quick to for example add JDM cars, that would potentially mean these mods won't see the light of day, or it could mean that manufacturers can hinder these mods or help with them, remains to be seen, but having mod support is already a good start.
@pluggotic2 ай бұрын
we still don't know if modding will be open or just platform-dependant. he doesn't seems to exclude the former...but who knows.

OK...Now I'm exited. Been saying for years, as insanely incredible AC1 is, its very lacking in depth and involvement, theres no struture to the racing, its a sandbox racing sim, (the best in the genre). Been calling for a game on PC to really use it's power of the platform to make a Gran Turismo competitor, less race cars, more road cars, more car culture and passion, free roam, economy, player garage to collect and share your passions, take photos etc and of course meaningful customisation. I think this interview has just really painted a picture of where this game is heading and it sounds amazing now. I was getting worried just seeing more race cars at Imola at the exhibition, it was looking just like an updated AC1 with better visuals and different handling. Man, now I'm hyped.

Remember all the questions people were bombarding Kunos with about damage when first AC was coming out? They didn't do a very deep job of it but people now seem to have forgotten about damage and if it is improved in the game.

The guys at Kunos Simulazioni are absolute legends. Turn 10 took a wrong turn with FM5 and too Forza Motorsports into a fully arcade experience. As for Gran Tourismo, I never went back after 2010. AC blew them both out the water despite it's limited features so ACE will in no doubt, be the new home for all passionate drivers who wish to simulate RL as close as possible. Cannot wait to hear the sounds of some of these cars.

Fantastic & very helpful interview. And I agree with others, that this is the most excited I've been for a new sim/game in ages. The only one question I would have had that slipped thru the cracks I guess - was if they will also release any sort of "season pass" either in the early access, or in the full release phase?

Ha-Ha, I might not see rally, but I don't care - still day one purchase for me. I've supported everything they've done, and I won't stop. Gr8 to see long term support planned, be gr8 to see more news and the planned DLC's for the future. I know there are mixed views on ACC, I don't mind it at all. But everything that came before will make Evo the best it can be.
