Excellent video! Very clearly explained, which often is not the case on other people's car mod videos. Well done. This info surely will help me on a project I have in mind. I want to do my own mod, to recreate a very special race car I owned back in the 1970s. It was a mid-engined Ford Anglia 105E. I found an excellent Anglia mod on Assettoland, so I have a good starting point for the visual side of things, but I had no idea where to start for the physics. I undoubtedly will have many many questions!

It’s actually a file called data.acd, for me anyways.

@@Justy_1. to edit the JSONs I use Notepad++ (free software, make sure it’s the web download version, not the Microsoft store one), for opening the files you just have to use content manager to unpack the car, then you can open the data folder and edit the raw values.

If it doesn't have a data folder, just use Mod Manager to create tne folder ("Unpack Data", it's on the cars content page). No need for a seperate video!

Thanks for posting! This is a good video. I would really like to get back into 3d modeling and build up a few cars (just have not found the time yet) BUT, when I do, I will be sure to accurately represent the actual car data - I think there are way too many mods out there with way too much HP/Torque. It would be fantastic to be able to MOD the car -IN GAME- kind of like back in the day I had a sony dreamcast and there was a 3d off road racing game you could mod your vehicle in the game and then race it with the mods.. If you dont have a data folder you need to unpack the data so the data.acd filder turns into a usable folder. After all modifications are done you then pack the data in content>cars while on the main page.

Sir Spats. I am trying to fix the gear ratio for the IMSA Chevrolet Intrepid RM-1. 2nd gear does not have an adjustment band, like the other gears, which makes the gear too high or two low depending on the track. How could I modify the 2nd gear ration on this car?

How to improve handling? I have a Porsche 928 that's supposed to be a Wangan car, but it has a measly like 340hp or something. I've actually used the car tuner program to completely engine swap it, but the handling is now, unbearable, it can't even REACH it's new top speed because of how loose the rear end is at high speed. How do you fix this? What file, what setting do I need to be looking at here lol.

If you don't find your steam library, try this path if you are on windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common

When I go to cars that don't the data folder, I use the unpack data option to produce a data folder. After I change what I want, I repack the data into a new .acd folder. I follow the rest of the instructions, launch the game through steam, select it, then press start. After a few seconds, I get an "unexpected error" window, close it, then get set back to the launcher. What am I doing wrong?

There's an app for this assetto car tuner I use it all the time does all this without digging in the file system. Tho nice to show how it all works and if u use dev mode in content manager u can unpack kunos cars data folders for ur pleasure lol

Whilst interesting to know this can be done, I just wonder how many racers will use it to give them an unfair advantage in online multiplayer racing. Isn't it therefore perhaps a way for some to cheat!

Hey Tube, on the online racers I think there is some anti cheat on the config files so they would not be able to do. But this is great for having some fun with the game.
