For anyone completely new to drifting - what I found to be helping me the most was actually not using 900° wheel rotation. I tried drifting with a 900° rotation for like 10 hours and couldn't really keep the car in drifts for too long or even transition really and got kinda frustrated but then I read about turning it down as a beginner. When I switched to 540° wheel rotation I actually managed to do some good drifts and even chain corners. 4 hours after I can do a complete Lap in Drifters Paradise (the map Kame is using here). The tips from this video and the reduction of my wheel rotation worked out beautiful!

something i can add from myself is if u using a g29 ur throttle pedal probably has a short click so in assetto u have to go into the settings and then control>axis u have to change max power of throttle to 60-70%, then u can more accurately feel a throttle, it helped me a lot so i thought i can share it with u.

For the people out there using a logitech wheel!!!! This video has helped me so much especially when building my confidence in drifting BUT 1 Thing you should try is starting with your steering rotation at 540 or 720 and then make your way up to 900 eventually for me this was way easier to understand the whole concept.

Tey Tyes I agree 100%. Basically you have to build up experience over time, until you can predict what inputs will cause what changes to the car a second or two from now as you drive. Once you start to amass enough info to get more accurate predictions you’ll be over the hump and drifting gets a lot more fun and rewarding 😁

Then I sit back to my car and have to adjust back to letting the wheel do its job. If you are strapped for cash it’s an adequate wheel for drift simulation 👍🏻 Though you might buy a DD later (due to the wheel breaking or you wanting more performance in the future) resulting in spending more money total, so it’s also good to take a long term look at buying a DD wheelbase which is a more robust long term solution

OMG I've been trying to rely on my g920 motor and as soon as you started talking about that I tried throwing the wheel and taking control of it instead of using the motor... immediately drifted, now I'm linking corners and nearly linking the entire drift map however I want 20mins later... I'm doing my research in getting into this field and the direct drive wheels have become super affordable in comparison to the belt wheels now. A Moza wheel and pedal setup can now be bought for $400-$500 which is right around the price of a Thrustmaster T300. I have also noticed that many wheels have flat bottoms which seems to me to be not as good for drifting since you let the wheel slide through your hands so much and a round wheel is the way to go. It may be a while before I buy a rig but man, I can't wait! Great video BTW.
@KameTrick
@KameTrick Жыл бұрын
I agree, if you can wait a couple more paychecks the DD option is a great move unless you’re ultra-budget or not sure you’ll want to stick with it. If you have a little bit more income to work with or the patience to save, jumping right into a Moza or Simagic is pretty solid. Personally, I run a VRS DirectForce Pro FWIW. 100# on the fully round wheel as well, it’s worth it to have one

I have a confession to make and this is the only place I can think of for me to share as I've been following this video religiously for about 3 days now. I was struggling very hard, got LUTs, my friend's FFB settings and everything I could think of. Put around 5-10 hours into this, wondering why I keep messing it up. Low and behold. My Thrustmaster settings were set to 540 degrees instead of 1080. So once I hit the 540 degrees in a turn my brain didn't know that was the max degree and thought I was half way through. For anybody struggling, please check your settings OUTSIDE of AC. I truly feel like an idiot, but am at the same time happy that I can keep a drift for however long I want now, including transitions. As a logitech user, I have found that reducing the degrees of rotation from 900 degrees to around 720 degrees. I agree that the wheel is slow to respond and I find myself "chucking" the wheel. However, with the lesser rotation, the wheel car will react as fast as I need it, even though the wheel is slow. What is your opinion on this method?

This was very well explained, now all I need is the same but for FWD. I am able to feel the throttle/steering wheel relationship IRL, but putting it in words and laying out the exact technique is proving to be difficult. It certainly doesn't help that all drifting content is either about RWD or handbrake sliding
@KameTrick
@KameTrick 3 жыл бұрын
Most people I know have FWD cars when they first start driving, even back in the day when affordable RWD was more common. I did my first Ebrake slides in a friends Honda Prelude and Acura Integra so I know the feeling😅 In a nutshell, the entry phase of any technique that has to do with foot brake or hand brake works the exact same...but as soon as a step involves accelerating it’s no longer relevant to FWD cars. FF’s can only enter fast, go sideways, and gradually lose speed until they can’t stay sideways, where RWD can get sideways and stay that way indefinitely due to the drivetrain layout. I may make an “FWD sliding techniques” type video at some point in 2022, but until then, good luck with your driving!

I thought I'm crazy that I have to force my wheel to spin in the dirt rally. Anyways, I'm at the entry level so far. g29 and similars are perfect for such cases as I think. I didn't drive a real drift or rally ca yet, but at this point I think it's perfect, my fingers are still there, despite the mistakes I make. And the experience is AMAZING!!!!! This is what such wheels has to provide. The entry level. To get an Idea on whether you like this or no

I already know how to drift but watched it anyway and like you said in your last point How I like the wdts cars, without a setup my g29 doesn't have a fast enough self rotation so you either have to adjust the camber/toe etc, need to trow the wheel around or a combo of both

Thanks for the extra info! I know Logitech users make up the majority of sim drifters so I wanted to give them some specific tips, but not owning one myself these days it’s hard to know if I’m missing anything. Do you have any specific changes you like to do on WDTS? It’d be cool for people to see what you find changes the car for better self-steer🤓

U might sell it and by a cheaper thrustmaster for the same price. The tmx pro might be perfect it has 2.9 nm while the logitech has 2.1

@@KameTrick Yeah would glad to share the info, I usually tune it in this order. Toe Front : I drop this down between 0 and negative 0,12 (more toe out and it makes the car to twitchy in my opinion) Rear : Usually run between 0.15 and 0.30 of toe in to make it more stable Anti roll bar Front : Usually drop this between 2000 and 6000 Rear : use 50% of the front value Camber Front : mostly run this around -4 Rear : between -0.6 and 1.5 (depending on track) Tire pressure Front : 27 to 29 Rear : 22 to 24 These are the basic guide lines I use and with my g29 they are pretty stable while still being able to throw big angle on tracks like bihoku, meihan etc. Hope this helps :)

@@noahnapieraj6754 Yeah I am tempting to buy a t300 but I wonder if I should upgrade to the csl elite straight away but don't know if I find it worth it as I drift 98% of the time

tuned4life I think you’d be happy with either wheel base, though I think Fanatec has better pedals (Thrustmaster has or will release a load cell brake pedal set though so if that’s a good piece of gear it could change the dynamic) Thanks for sharing your tuning workflow, I’m sure the community will appreciate it🙌🏻

8 months later , still the bestttttttttttttt vid bro. I got the g920 3 days ago and was struggling with the g920 to drift in assetto. I was flicking my g920 to get one turn done, but after this vid ....even tho the wheel is gear driven with less feedback , i just let it do its thing and focus on throttle control and pull out such nice transitions. (I play on XBOX btw , so the people who think this vid only applies to pc players , u r wrong.)

@@KameTrick One more thing to ask , what would u recommend - G920 or TMX PRO I could afford a wheel in that price range only. I got the g920 knowing that it would be notchy but that wouldn't affect that much . But after i played around with it , i started noticing it alot that it would mess my drifts up sometimes. Tmx pro is gear/belt driven and people say its more smoother than G920 and its t3pa pedals are better too ( also to note that g920s break pedal is too stiff) . I was thinking to go with thrustmaster TX but its not available in my country and to ship it from outside , it exceeds my budget . So should i return the g920 and get tmx pro?
@KameTrick

@@avv5 that’s a tough one, I haven’t driven either wheel to be fair. Technically the TMX Pro with its gear/belt hybrid could have faster steering but I don’t think you’ll get that much better performance. It at least won’t be night and day like the tx or t300 would be😔 If the pedals are preferable to you that might make it worth it.

@@KameTrick Thanks for your reply , i guess i might aswell get the TMX pro as it will be smoother and pedals are better too! Looking forward to your drift guides!! Again thank you so much.
