Shaolin fighters used to be unheard of in India. But one man has made a name for himself by becoming the country's first Shaolin master after learning Shaolin kung fu in China. In Uttarakhand, CGTN's Shweta Bajaj met Kanishka Sharma, whose love for the ancient martial art inspired him to train a new generation of warriors.

I think most people that would watch this video do it out of respect and love of martial arts, and only point to lineage as being semi important not for who learns it after but to never forget where it comes from. I just saw this on my snapchat in the advertising stories and thought the lineage of this martial arts isnt being accurately represented and I would hate to see somthing like snapchat profit of that. Especially on such an old story, so I came to see if ppl had the same thought as me and most do. We love and respect martial arts and theres to much bullshit in this community not to call out little stuff like this.

Bodhidharma was both a martial arts master and a meditation master. he needed martial arts to make the long trip to China, and he was a master of meditation to sit facing a stone for 9 years for his first 'Silent teaching' of the Buddhist Dharma. However Shaolin kung fu was largely developed later by generations of Chinese monks throughout the centuries. In other words, Bodhidharma started the discipline at the beginning and the Chinese monks adopted it and carried it till now.

In Shaolin's legend, Da'mo spreads Buddisim in Song Mont and awake himself to KungFu after sitting in a cave to meditate 9 years. This is simply the Legend story but not the truth. It is a part of Chinese culture in Buddisim. According to history record, the origin form of Chinese KungFu appears almost 3600 years ago in Xia Dynasty for military battles. Kungfu by a single person is actually a form of using weapons such as Tai Ji sword. That is an evolution of the original military skills. This is also why Chinese KungFu always practiced with weapons which we see in videos quite often. The first Shaolin KungFu master is Chinese with no question, and there is no need to argue who is the first Indian Shaoling KungFu mater.

Kung fu is just a small part of the culture in Shaolin, India, of course, has been central to the Shaolin culture since it was set up in the late 5th century. The founder of Shaolin temple was from ancient India. His name was Batuo (or Buddhabhadra in Sanskrit and the monastery was built in his honour by a local king). Batuo translated sutras inside the temple.

The first saolin master is bodhidharma. The creator of 'chan' or 'dhayan' in hindi language in saolin temple. He also create today's best martial art in the world the Saolin kung fu. I would drop anything in my current western life and go train and live the Shoalin ways. I watch videos and documentarys on them an just feel so in awe and interested in them, even had a few come to my hometown on Chinese New Years and preformed . I practice several Martial Arts before but I would love to live it like they do. My dream would like to go to Shoalin or any monastery and learn and train there

Original Shiaolin Abbot was the Buddha, Bhodidarmha. He was teaching Budhism and other things to the Chinese. The Chinese still had their problem with Mongolia and asked him for a way to fight or defend themselves. The Abbot went into the wilderness, studied 5 of the best combatants of 5 different types of animals and created the 5 animal styles. For a long time, to enter Shiaolin you had to be around 5 years old, know the 5 animal styles and be able to stand in Horesriding (Mother Stance) for at least 5 minutes. Feet just wider than your shoulders, thighs parallel to the ground, arms at sides, 90 degrees at elbow, fists closed, wrists up, perfect posture and breathing. It is the Mother Stance because all fighting stances, even Western Boxing are a variation of it.
