Not in Indonesia. We receive Islam with open arms, TLDR: Islam spread through trade route from Middle East, then a kingdom in Aceh province officially accept Islam as state religion, then it was spread using traditional puppet shadow (wayang kulit) as a platform to spread Islam by the local cleric (we have 9 great cleric or sunan , we called them Wali Songo). And then the rest is history.

Islam wasn't forced(it's forbidden) .....people accepted the religion of victors seeing thier nice and fair treatment of the conquered people.....no mass slaughtering like mongols or crusaders.....it took 500 years for the ottoman empire to have 50% muslim of the total population..... Most of the time it was a christian majority empire...muslim also ruled overwhelmingly hindu majority india for 600 years... Show me another example like this from history

Its for their safety and protection in the land of Muslim. After a land is conquered, it becomes the land of Muslims. So to live here either they convert or pay jizia as a protection money. With that money they will get safety and protection from the Muslims. If any harms come that will be liable to that ruler of the land. Besides muslims living in that land are paying zakat which non muslims who are paying jizia are not paying. Simple.

Syria was greatly affected by their civil wars and attacks by the non Muslims but still they were Muslim country. Now Syria is under Muslims hand again although country like Israel trying to get the land. So the war is still going on. Some time Israel attacks on them some time they on Israel. No one called for retreat yet! So how come you say they ended up loosing?
