I am a bit concerned how African women are portrayed in these roles as scheming “high class prostitutes” who only sleep with made men to make it themselves. But there are very hard working women across Africa and I think it is about time we let our young ladies know that they can rise above their challenges, be hardworking and they can pay for their own things. Unpopular opinion: sometimes you just need a getaway, a fantasy to watch. You're not modeling your life after the characters. They aren't an influence. They are entertainment that you watch and enjoy (BTW LOVIN this show from Cali). Stop and think for a moment. Black billionaires and multi-millionaires are REAL in Africa. Ones that DON'T rap, sing or play sports but straight up businessmen. That is admirable as hell! I won't go into the corruption and such but I understand that images and politics are extremely important on a global sense. But I really enjoyed it. 1st episode - I'm thoroughly enjoying Assistant Madams but I have to say, the back story they have given uncle Lanre here (leaving a woman at the alter 3 years prior), and even his behaviour when finally bumping into her, is not consistent with his character in The Men's Club. In TMC, Lanre is a lover boy. He falls hard even though finds it difficult to commit to his younger girlfriend. He's reasonable and seemed like the type of person to sit down and have a conversation with the woman he left at the alter and not 'apologise' in such a nonchalant manner. Can't wait to watch episode 2.
