AD seems like a sweet girl and she said on the show that she's been in therapy for a year because she's pursuing a father's love in these toxic men she keeps picking. I wish she had waited a bit longer and kept working with the therapist. If she's looking for unconditional love from the likes of Matthew and Clay I think she still has some issues to resolve. I say that as someone who had similar issues. It takes longer than one year to learn to love yourself to the point where you DON'T come back for seconds after you figure out the game someone like Matthew is playing

Matthew's "greatest accomplishment" line didn't trip my alarm bells so much as it set off my air raid sirens. It was one of the most brazen LINES I've ever heard on one of these shows, and when combined with how aloof and callous he was during the first dates...I actually guessed that twist before it happened. And then when he was defending himself, my God, the shameless, gaslighting manipulation of all of it. Some of the BS he spouted was eerily familiar. Took me right back to my own unfortunate time being in love with a dark triad type. Good on AD for being smarter than I was back in the day, and I hope Amber does just what you suggest.

def not the type of guy I'd want around me in any capacity, but I think it is very dangerous to diagnose people from afar. I've known people like Matthew. None of them sociopaths, but rather very very hurt and insecure individuals. That doesn't mean anyone should EVER tolerate their antics. They can and do hurt a lot of people around them. That being said, real sociopathy is very rare; people like Mathew are more than likely coming from a very traumatized childhood and are desperate to show how great they are, because if they're perfect and always right that means they must be worthy of love. It's a very sad and self-sabotaging existence :(
