@@nusratparray6754 it's not painful at all. There can be a little pain when the doctor pulling stitches or when the sterile forceps touching your gum. But don't go with scared mind. At the end you will feel absolutely peace

​@@hestiyasharon9634 no not at all, whole thing was less than 5 minutes. They made me lay back at the dentist , I opened my mouth and they cut the thread outside the tooth. So no pain also I don't like opening my eyes so I don't know what they did with the thread.

I'm getting a stitch or two out next week. It's 1.20am here right now and I'm wondering what it's gonna be like. Now I'm hoping my dentist doesn't pull the whole stitch through the wound because just watching the demonstration of that made my asshole dance around.

Oh that tends to be the worst case scenario. If anything ask them if they can rub some topical gel on it so it numbs the gums so you feel it less, don't worry it's not the shot. It's like oralgel from the pharmacy.

I just had a molar removed and didn't get any stitches. I asked the dentist and he just said it will heal without stitches.

Depending on location, such as top molars, the cheeks fat acts like a natural bandage to keep the blood clot in place so no need for stitches most of the time. Within 5 days if you don't have any immense pain more than likely it has healed and sealed.

What happens if the stitches are covered by the body tissue that is closing the hole? Mine aren't visible now, they're buried beneath a new layer of tissue and I will go to the dentist to remove them. I wonder if the dentist will have to pull open the hole to take them out

They may be tucked deep but still accessible. Doc may need to slightly numb to find the knot comfortably, snip and pull and done.

Depends on what material they used. If the stitches is black in color, then that's silk and will be removed by the dentist office. If the stitches are like tan/light brown, it may be a dissolvable stitch and they comes apart at like 5/6 days.

Hi I got my stitches removed but I'm afraid on chewing near the socket area bcoz it didn't closed yet, I'm afraid food particle can be trapped and cause infection.

If it has been cleared by the doc then your outside of the range of getting dry socket. If foods is inside the hole you can warm salt water rinse and swish in the area to dislodge it. Another thing is take a medicine syringe and try to irrigate the socket with warm salt water.

Get some oralgel from local store to help with pain of the gums. If pain feel deeper than what the oralgel can handle, try placing a warm wet teabag (your choice of tea) on the area to help with pain.

A little uncomfortable, ask the assistant for topical gel to rub on and numb it a little. It just bleeds a little whne taken out, and stops up in like 10 minutes.

Is it black and looks like sewing thread? If it's been past a week then yes, anyone even yourself can remove it. If it is dissolvable, it may look tan and stiff, that should go away on its own.

If the office removed your stitches then they have cleared you to eat as normal. If it's been 5-7 days since they placed the stitch then you are clear to chow down. Have a good lunch =).

@@ARMY-ug7cc nothing too much. If you are 7 day out since you had the extraction you are more than likely in the clear. Keep the area clean like you normally would brush and it should heal as normal.

If the strings that came out were light brown/beige in color then more than likely they used one that dissolves wiring 5-7 days.if it was black and looks like sewing thread then that usually needs to be removed by the dentist office. But since it has been a week and no unusable pain then you should be in the clear.

When they remove the stitches it shouldn't hurt, just feels weird. The dental people should be able to put some numbing jelly on your gums to help when they take it out.

Typically 5-7 days it may dissolve the knot, 10-12 may dissolve the strands. Depends on the type if they use gut, chromic gut that goes away sooner or later.

It should not hurt, but if you are still sore in the area then you could ask them for the numbing gel(topical gel) before they do what they need to do.

Some times it can be. Get a tea bag soak it in warm water and then bite on the tea bag for a while over the stitches area.

Completely understandable about pain on that return appointment. As long as healing has occurred, it may feel sore but not painful. Just aks them for Topcial Anesthetic before they start and it will help if it is still tender. Listen to their post op instructions they gave you, like no straws,, sucking, smoking, alcohol. Gentle warm salt water lightly moved in you mouth, no swishing or spitting, and it will help healing to be much quicker.

I got an X pattern stitch over a molar I just had removed, I was told they'll fall out in 2-9 days. Had it pulled Tuesday, today is Friday, noticed 1 part of it broke off or came out . So now it's connected in 3 areas not 4 anymore

Yep, that suture material is called Gut material or Absorbable. It takes a range of time for it to dissolve that you can see but sadly it gets pokey when it does breakdown.

Sometimes there is a thing called. Pericoronotis that can cause that to happen. It causes the tissues around the tooth to swell and can cause difficulty opening due to the inflammation caused by the tooth. Since you had the tooth removed, this may be a lite version that is left over, that can happen and go away. Can also be because of the swelling from the extraction which should be depleting as far as swelling if your past 5 days since ext.

@@shimonkm7132 May be something to let your dentist know is still being an issue. If they did not give you any antibiotics or muscle relaxing meds before, they may put you on some to help with inflammation.
