This definitely isn’t a replacement for the johdah. They’ve bought out Equipe R, and Mille GTS winter gear this year to sit in the middle price bracket. I can see the appeal of having some nicer winter Mille stuff. But some cheaper Equipe winter options just for the sake of it doesn’t do it for me. The old Habu jacket was an all-time classic though - still ride and love that in winter now! I think the front pocket is an homage to that which had a seemingly odd placed pocket on the arm for… something?!?!

I guess they are just trying to give people options in various fits… I personally like the Equipe fit better than Mille, but also prefer the GTO bibs… So maybe we will get a good Fall GTO pair of bibs soon :)

@@MitchOnTwoWheels those GTO bibs are the same material as the Equipe Spring Fall shorts. There just seems to be way too many options now with all the new tights that have come out.

This is not a replacement for the RS Equipe Johdah jacket. This new HaBu jacket is not as warm as the Johdah although it is marked Winter, it's a Euro winter... not a Canadian/USA winter. It is made with the new ASSOS 888 Airblock fabric on the chest and arms. It's more for the colder days of late Autumn and early spring in Canada /USA. (as with the original HaBu jacket which I still have) Depending on the day vary the baselayers worn with this and you will have a very versatile item for your colder rides. Then when it gets really cold break out the Johdah. The Equipe line is a different fit (race fit) than the Mille line (regular /comfort fit). Chris from ASSOS Pro Shop Toronto @La Bicicletta Toronto.

Just for the info: According to assos, winter series (not Ultraz) should be used cca from 6 to 12 degrees celsius. I personaly found that this Habu jacket is way too warm above 10 degrees. around 6 it's starting to be quite OK. today I used it for 2.5h long MTB ride with temperatures all the time close to -1.5 degrees, and surprisingly the jacket was really really good. I used Isadore Merino Long Sleeve Baselayer - which is absolutely the best merino you can find anywhere (and for a very very good price). For short uphills and downhills it's really great jacket around these temperatures. For long downhills it would not be sufficient probably.

Road bike speed and MTB speed will cool you down very differently. Having done both, the faster you travel, the cooler you'll be...

@@MitchOnTwoWheels sure, I just wanted to note, that the jacket is very usable for MTB in much lower temperatures :)

I have an Ultraz and Mille GT Winter jacket, where does the Habu fit in the range? Is it an alternative to the GT Winter? It looks a step up in quality over the GT Winter.
@MitchOnTwoWheels11 ай бұрын
It’s a step up in quality, but very similar in warmth level. Fit also similar.

@@MitchOnTwoWheels Thanks for the information. I'll stay with the GT Winter and Ultraz for now and when I need replace my GT Winter will have a close look at the Habu. My only complaint about the GT Winter is the neck is cut, it's a little low for a winter jacket.

In the USA this jacket says “coming soon“ on the Assos website. How did you already get it?

Curious to know the sizing on this jacket. You purchased a size Large. Can you tell me your height / weight so I can order the correct size?

I'm 6-3, 205 lbs... It's nice and tight. The online size calculator hasn't let me down yet. Plug your measurements in there and it should spit out the best fitting kit you'll own.

Finally got my hands on this jacket. Absolutely HATE it. Not only the worst Assos jacket I’ve ever used, possibly the worst cycling jacket I’ve ever used. Leaves my upper body absolutely drenched in sweat - zero wicking or breathability. The old habu was brilliant for drying you off quickly on a descent. For reference, my spring/fall headband was bone dry when I got back - so all the sweating was done underneath the jacket. Should’ve just worn a bin liner for $0.10.
@MitchOnTwoWheels Жыл бұрын
No way! Are you wearing base layers? If you don’t like it, send it back… You should love it, and it shouldn’t give you buyers remorse.
@mf0u3021 Жыл бұрын
@@MitchOnTwoWheels yep, got the Assos baselayer. Wore it back to back with the old habu and it’s just nowhere near the performance level I expect from Assos. It’s definitely going back.
