Assured micropatching with assistant professor Jeremy Daily

The CSU Systems Engineering Department recently hosted a hackathon at the Colorado State University Energy Institute (Powerhouse campus). The event was held to evaluate and demonstrate emerging technologies from the Assured Micropatching Program (AMP) at DARPA. Lead by Dr. Sergey Bratus, the AMP program seeks to accelerate binary analysis and patch assurance for embedded systems.
Micropatching is a new, more efficient method for updating and protecting systems built using binary code. Where before it might take an advanced computer engineer a great deal of time to fix vulnerabilities and errors in programs, tools and methods developed under AMP can often perform these tasks much faster.
We hosted more than 30 external performers and transition partners, including Cummins Inc., United States Space Force, and NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The NASA JPL team even brought an open-source rover so participants could use it as a platform to demonstrate their capabilities.
