Great lecture. Consider that what is being called "finger pointing" is actually not that, but rather, the fingers are in a formation that indicated submission and devotion which is an important feature of religions in Mesopotamia and the rest of the middle east. Pointing a finger at anyone, let alone at a God, is/would-be offensive in that region. Also, think of the way the Christ is depicted in Byzantine or Roman paintings with a raised hand and fingers set in a formation indicating Alpha, as in "I am the Alpha and the Omega".
