UPDATE: So the yellowing I mentioned at the end of this vid I feel has gotten worse. It's just spreading onto the opposite page of whatever I've used the pens on. It seems any colour that has any sort of yellow in it does this. I'll be posting pictures so you can see exactly what I mean. I'll also be contacting the rep that worked with me on this collab and let them know 👍

Good to know! I wonder if putting a blank piece of paper on top of it in the sketchbook would help it not bleed 🤔

@@JasonJaceAvery I personally won't be using them again for anything important. They won't be going in my sketchbook again. Maybe I'd use them for loose paper that I don't plan on storing with anything important.

No clue if anyone has already mentioned this but marker paper is determined by how long it lets the ink Sit on the top layer which is why marker paper feels SO SMOOOTH. If you use markers in regular sketchbooks/paper the ink is absorbed very quickly into the paper and blending is hard unless done quickly or by touching nibs. On marker-specific paper the paper is treated like Coated/glossy paper which means there's something in the paper that prevents ink from absorbing into the paper right away so it's great for blending. It also means it will bleed through but, depending on the brand, will not bleed onto the next paper. That's called see through or something??? For good marker paper that's still thin but doesn't bleed onto the next page with light usage the Strathemoore Marker paper is nice but not the cheapest Canosn vellum/ink XL Sketchbooks are good and give a LITTLE longer working time but they are not marker paper books so the ink is still absorbed pretty quickly. My favorite which is both THiCCCC and smooth is the Bee Paper Marker Paper. Watercolor thickness but smooth. You can get some cool watercolor border effects if you use glossy photo paper which is what they use for YUPO paper. it's great for some abstract backgrounds but they take forever to dry. Hopefully, this helps!

You could practically line art the back of that paper! It seems like this is a great start to these markers, just a few small tweaks like making the protector to size and letting the caps click to the markers would make them the perfect beginning starter set. I love the painterly look of this finished piece and the whole spread is just ✨aesthetic AF✨

I know 😂 I'm not sure what Marker paper is supposed to look like so I kinda assumed this might be normal? idk. yeah, there are just a few minor things that could be changed that would be great, but this is honestly a really good set regardless 👌👌 And thank you so much, I really had fun just doing whatever with these 😁

I believe marker paper is designed to be smooth and not tear when doing a lot of layering. OH ALSO! For anyone new to alcohol markers, the paper protectors they come with can transfer colors. If it bleeds through onto it, then you use it again underneath something lighter, it reactivates the marker from behind. So, make sure you clean it in between pieces. Isopropyl or rubbing alcohol will do the trick.

I really like how this turned out! I actually have this set of markers and I wanted to let you know that the yellowing transferring to another page I noticed it would happen with the warmer colors (like even orange and sometimes bright red would make the other page a little yellow) no matter the sketchbook I would use so I just started putting a piece of paper in-between the pages which helps.

I've been looking at getting some alcohol markers but was leaning towards Ohuhu- however, not sure on how long the shelf life is on those and with a toddler who is incapable of letting me draw without trying to "improve" my artwork, it's nice being able to find a comparable alternative that isn't as expensive! Your toddler obviously knows some master secrets they're trying to share with you ❤ These pens are honestly really good, and I think their pricing is perfect if you're worried about your helper taking over 😊 And I'm constantly making choices in dialogue that just really doesn't mesh with me but I just wanna make my little bitey boy happy 😭

I never understand when markers/pens etc don't allow you to put the lid on the back. A big reason I don't have more copic sketch markers--it has to be deliberate, what could the reasoning possibly be??

I guess it depends on the person. I kind of keep the lid in my hand. So it doesn’t really matter for me. I fear using the cap or putting the cap on the back because I have broken the cap once a upon a time and I am still haunted by that 😢 god I cried so because of that

I have these markers and the yellow color definitely bleeds onto the next page out of nowhere. Did you get an update from your rep on why?

No they didn't, they said they'd let manufactoring know and that was about it. Based on what other people have told me though this seems to be a regular thing with cheaper alcohol markers, something about what they use to bond the colours just doesn't work on yellow, so any of the colours that hold even a little yellow are likely to spread it to anything that has prolonged contact. So basically using it in your sketchbook is a bad idea 😅 I've decided I'm only really gonna use these pens on pieces I plan on framing or hanging ✌

So I know I’m a little late to the comments but I had a question for anyone who owns these markers. For me whenever I use a purple color it eventually fades to a light pink, I can’t remember if maybe I used a pink color under it but it’s happened with a 2 or 3 of my drawings so far so I simply wanted to know if anyone else has this problem and if it can be fixed. Update: I can now confirm that I did not use a pink marker below it and it’s just that one purple marker that changes color, so now ALL of my drawings with that purple are now pink

Sadly it’s prolly because alcohol markers are known to fade, and in my experience cheap alcohol markers fade extremely fast (much faster than ohuhu, who still fades but not as fast). Hope this helped^^

I dislike marker paper. This one seems to bleed. The markers are probably better on better paper. I find the paper makes the biggest difference. Seems fun. Wish I could play boulders gate 3 seems amazing.
