I got these markers for christmas one year (by accident) and I've never been able to figure out how to use them without getting that, what I would call, cheaper look, like textas. I think it must be the mixed media paper with the rougher surface vs the smoother paper.

The autistic joy i got from doom scrolling my fyp to find something remotely interesting to listen to while i draw birds. Ive already drawn a california condor, osprey, cooper hawks, ravens and crows, etc, and i see a video about art and clowns. This makes me so happy because ive always liked clowns :D and i have a little circus i made in my had that ive had since i was little with each character either based off an animal or a phobia.

This was such a lovely video! Super relaxing and inspiring me to to some more traditional art!! (also I love clowns so <3)

The first image makes me feel like shes a happy court jester, but loyal to the king. the second makes me feel like someone insulted her king, other than her of course cause thats what a court jester does, and shes about to handle it.

An idea for why she looks much softer in the right drawing: She's usually very mischievous and quite the jokester, yet she doesn't like the usual treatment of the circus animals (like the bird) and therefore looks at them solemnly/goes soft for them. Maybe she's examining the bird for possible injuries of a dangerous stunt someone else pulled with them, therefore the outstretched wing :]

Your pad bled a lot from the markers. I use the Derwent sketchbooks an they don't bleed as much, hope this helps 💜
