the Astartes guy got bought by Games Workshop, the company that owns Warhammer 40k, so he removed the original animations from his own youtube channel and the animations instead became official, canon 40k animations. So they started as fanmade, but the company bought them and they became official canon. The guy behind them got hired by the company and there was an official announcement of Astartes 2 animation on the company's page, but that was like 3 years ago and we've received no information of it since. No news, no cancellations, nothing, so that's still up in the air and unclear if it is still in production or if it got scrapped. I'm still coping and believing he's making a full length movie which would understandably take several years to make which would explain the long break.
@TheBroGamer140823 ай бұрын
To be fair: Astartes 1 was made over the course of several years (around 1/part iirc) so it's possible that Astartes two will take jsut as long if not longer.

Exactly this, brickys videos are long but he does a lot to make them entertaining and I recommend all factions explained followed by all space marine legions explained. Makes great react content too.

There is definitely space combat. My favorite part about it is that the huge space ships often have battering rams and will just ram an enemy ship.

For context: Space Marines are called in when your basic rank and file are NOT gonna help you here. In the 40k universe. An average man seeing a Space Marine evokes two feelings: 1. Oh my God, a Demi-god has arrived to the battlefield. We must fight harder for the emperor. 2. Oh my God, we are REALLY in the shit if THESE guys are here!

As someone who's been in the hobby for almost 4 years I can still say we don't know much about the alien faction the Space Marines were fighting but this has been canonized by Games Workshop, the company who makes Warhammer. What I will say though is that the creator did the Space Marines justice in this fan film. Looking forward to seeing you start your Warhammer journey. Welcome to the community even if it's only on the gaming side of things 👍

In the lore... many many space and air fights. But the board game hasn't been a thing for awhile I think. But video games space fights in 40k are a thing in "Battlefleet Gothic"

They do have air combat, well kinda. Aeronautica Imperialis is a ship based model game within the same universe, using the ships and such. Because of the scale its separate to the main game on the table top at least. The combat isnt in space itself, but usually in the atmosphere of the different planets/battlegrounds around the galaxy being contested. That game is much less popular and in comparison to 40k or AOS, kinda dead, but technically still exists.
@rptrrwr2 ай бұрын
Well there's also battlefleet gothic for full-on space battle. But yes, scale really means that they have to have separate games otherwise your entire house would be the battleground for a tabletop game lol

In case you're curious: the reason that inquisitorial agent got his head punched in then immediately overkilled with gunfire is to prevent his powers from overwhelming him and basically tearing open a portal to hell.

Tbh, if all they did was what we saw, then it might not have even been enough lol. Usually burning them in holy fire is the next step. Overkill isn't really a concept in 40k, considering how much everything is dangerous.

4:00 to answer your question good sir ,it is suppose to be lore accurate , marines are very dangerous, and 40k universe devours marines as they were candys, so 40k univere is kind of dangeorus.

@innocuousalias66323 ай бұрын
Since there is almost no dialogue a lot of what is going on is implied with that mysterious dream like style of story telling. One thing I think is clear is the "equipment" stored in the vault. Those rows of helmets and spine looking things are what the two guys were wearing to give them artificial psychic powers. Only two had it equipped but there were enough stored in that vault to create and army of them. The other unfinished golden statue type thing was most likely intended to be a new body for the aliens themselves.

Space combat is handled through their "Battlefleet: Gothic" line of games. Board and computer versions of it. Also, the extermination of the Inquisitor is a mercy. Friends don't let friends get possessed by the demonic forces of Chaos.

So here's the explanation for both the animation: - Astartes was a fan-animation made by Syama Pedersen. It was such a good work that it was bought and made official. - It involves a group of Space Marines sent to destroy a rebel ship hiding mysterious psychic aliens. Space Marines, or the Adeptus Astartes, are superhuman soldiers with power armor and 19 genetic modification including but not limited to, an extra heart, a third lung, night vision, immunity to most poisons, the ability to spit acid, and the power to read people's minds by eating their brains. They can sprint at up to 55 miles per hour, are bulletproof, and can lift a truck without effort. They have photographic memories, can go 3 weeks without sleep, and have mental resistance to telepaths. They're main weapon is an anti-armor high-explosive grenade launcher gun called a Bolter. Others will call it a gyrojet, it is not a gyrojet. - Space Marines are organized into self-contained, genetically similar brotherhoods called "chapters", which includes space marine infantry, tanks, aircraft, commanders, and even space ships. - This series follows Syama's homebrew chapter, the Retributors, as they perform a strike mission. They send a single combat team (4 marines led by a sergeant) as they fight cultists with lasguns and autoguns, and kill those psykers with the spine-attachments. The Orb is the weird alien. It's a fan-made alien design made of psychic creatures trying to escape the destruction of their world. It tries to flee but the Retributors are dragged along and dropped off on it's homeworld. Now here's the thing, Astartes was bought, but it's a lot more complex than most people say. There's a lot of people who might tell you that Games Workshop is some nightmarish company who hates it's fans and actively tries to copyright strike anyone. The reality is that they are, as far as companies go, lenient. For instance, they reworked Astartes for their main channel, not because they hated it, but because the original animation used sounds from the soundtracks of movies and whatnot. That's fine for a fan work, but it's a legal problem for a company's official product. They did take down his original youtube videos because they wanted to bring people to their own streaming service, which IS a terrible thing to do. They also didn't threaten to sue/Cease and desist anyone, despite what the community says. Sodaz left because he was sent death threats by fans who hated that he was working for the company officially. Tyber Portughese's "Last Church" animation was an almost 1-1 remake of an official story and thus not under fair use. But they also have the official policy that they can strike down fanimations whenever they want. Some people think it's because you have to "defend" your IP in order to keep it, which is untrue and there's no country in the western world with such archaic laws. No, it's just a bad thing for GW to have done. They absolutely are assholes for some of the creative decisions they've made, like ruining the Exodite animation or charging exorbitant prices for out-of-date rulebooks, but they're not EA or Ubisoft or Netflix levels of assholery, let alone Blizzard or Amazon. I've been a 40k fan for over 7 years, and in that time I don't think I've seen a lot of actual maliciousness out of them. It's mostly just incompetence, which is par for the course these days.
@Nineteen1900Hundred3 ай бұрын
What did GW do to the Exodite animation?
@andrewdowns90473 ай бұрын
@@Nineteen1900Hundred Made them rewrite it, basically. 40k makes the consistent effort to deliver medium-quality, self-contained stories. So the way it's been told, the Exodite was a high-quality animation that would have apparently been tough for the average viewer. So they basically gutted the project to shove their own standards onto the team. It really hurt the final project and showed that the lead writers at GW are not fit to be animating shit. Now, all this is hearsay: some guy on reddit who heard from his friend who may or may not have been loosely affiliated with the Exodite project. But athough there's no hard confirmation, it just tracks with GW corporate culture. They don't threaten with legal stuff like the community says, GW just likes to have an unreasonably tight grip on its workers. Again, it's evil, but it's not the same kind of evil as Wizards of the Pinkerton Coast. Those exodite animators are now working for Project Morningstar. GW fumbled on them hard.
