I watched this through entirely before I did anything else. Then I ordered 8mm and 10mm plastic clips and the yellow clips. I got everything set and started playing the video again and finished in just under 2 hours. Only one clip didn't break but I replaced every single one I came across. A great video from start to finish. Very thorough and detailed. I am not a "car guy". I can change the oil, battery and bulbs and fill the wiper fluid but I'm an idiot on everything else. But I did this because of this video. The dealership wanted $1,500. Both headlights and all the clips for just over $100 and 2 hours of my time and $1,400 still in my account. Ecstatic. Thank you.

Great video! I didn’t take the grill off. I just pulled it and the bumper off together. Thanks for the tip on ordering new clips before installation!

Great job. This is the most complete video I was able to find on this installation.

Those yellow clips can be released with a long flat screwdriver. I originally found that on a video that showed how to replace the chrome strips in the front grill.
@brianweber356Ай бұрын
I also learned in the process that the yellow clips need to be installed the 'right' way - they can be installed upside down and then the bumper or grill will not click back in. For anyone taking on this project, make sure to note which way they are installed originally. The flat part that rests against the car where they are installed is shaped like a house. Put the 'roof' in the same direction it was. If you do put them in upside down, there is a tiny little guide tab (not the locking tab), that can be broken off with needle nose pliers.

Your headlights use the same bulb for both low and high beam? Upgrade to Japanese version headlights that have separate bulbs projector low beam (HB3 9005) and reflector high beam (H11).

I'll never understand why car manufacturers have to make the simplest of tasks a royal pita. Top access should be enough. Having to take the bumper off is stupid.

Holy crap volvo has it down - or at least they did on the V50's. Two metal shims. That's it. Whole assembly comes out!

@@DraganLazinE46 BMWs are also as simple. Two bolts topside and pull toward the front. This CR-V design is shite.

You said it! Replacing headlights should be a quick job. You shouldn’t have to remove the whole front clip. Stupid!

One other thought- since so many of the black body clips broke or were already broken, I bought a pack of 10mm body clips for about $8. Then I found out that some of them are 8mm, so I bought a pack of those for about $8. It looks like when a clip fastens to the metal body of the car, it's an 8mm hole. When it's plastic to plastic or plastic to rubber (such as under the car), it's a 10mm hole.

@@sarahpadillasiapno5703 I ordered my headlights from A1A Auto online. They came with new bulbs already installed in the light assembly. I have replaced headlights from A1A Auto for a 1997 F-150, 2004 Honda Pilot, and 2014 Honda CRV. They work great!

You don’t have to remove the bolts and clips underneath the nose . I did this in less than 3 hours
@brianweber356Ай бұрын
Similar here - I put a cardboard box under the bumper so it was lowered down just enough to get access to everything, but the clip and bolts stayed.
