Because the Aston Martin LMP1 car (AMR-ONE) was an abject failure and only completed a combined 12 laps between both cars. One tub was purchased and became the DeltaWing, the other tub was purchased by Henri Pescarolo and run at Le Mans in 2012 with a Judd V10.

As a point of reference, a full season arrive & drive program in a Ginetta G55 supporting British GT is ~$50,000 GBP. A recent interview with Starworks on Radio Le Mans put the per event cost of Grand-AM & WEC at ~$150,000 per event for a DP or LMP2. This is not even considering all the licensing & track time to obtain the necessary experience. GT3 is likely to be a similar cost for Blancpain, GTOpen or a similar series.

FPV was half owned by Prodrive (51%) until they pulled out recently. They were the ones who did most of the development on the supercharged 5L I believe :)

Wow, this host basically just stood there, open-mouthed, with crossed arms and going "Yeah" and "Uh-hu" from time to time. No questions, no particular reactions to the things said, no smiles. Just trying to look like he was actually listening. Not particularly engaging to watch, although the premise was awesome.

An interesting topic to address for another episode is...Why doesn't Grand Am fall in line with FIA Regulations and Specifications? Especially in the case of GT Racing, it seems practical have one roll-cage for GrandAm and another for FIA events. Uniformity across the different racing series seems like a way to reduce costs for teams that want to participate in more than one series.

So can you bring a stock Aston to ProDrive, ask them to install racing suspension, brakes, and rollcage, would they do it? I think an Aston with racing bits on the street is a thing of dreams to me.

The Aston Martins do have a short wheelbase compared to some other GTE machinery though, this tends to tend itself to the car being more twitchy when on the limit. Add to this the fact its front engined unlike the Porsche & Ferrari and you begin to see why the back end could be a bit unstable in difficult conditions.

Are you doing your own CFD work? Got it. Cool. Okay. Okay. Okay. Got it. Mhh. Okay. Got it. |||| This is enraging! Why don't you prepare?? And a Le Mans spec 458 GT2 weighs 250kgs less than the 458 (my google-fu is strong too) . But if you think finding a quarter of a ton weight savings is massive fail then I await the debut of your "Frederiksen" brand where you show how it's done :)

whar is are anti-extrusion bars?
@RyTrapp0
@RyTrapp0 10 жыл бұрын
anti-intrusion bars? the 2 equally spaced bars that run vertically from roof to cowl on the inside of the windshield, they help distribute load across the windshield/sheetmetal in any instance where a very heavy object might strike the windshield at very high speed(say, a worst case scenario incident at daytona where a loose tire from a wrecked/damaged car may strike the windshield of one of these astons going 100+MPH).
