Gearbox is special dual clutch made by Ricardo (one of the best in the business). The gearbox also contains the additional electric motor which needs to be properly calibrated to work with the gearbox and the engine's 11,000 rpm. All this together means they likely severely limited the shift durations so the whole system didn't eat itself to pieces.
@travislouisseize77554 жыл бұрын

The average sports car owner will own multiple cars from every single brand. It is hard to drive your cars very often when you own 20 of them and take a helicopter to work. There is no upper middle class that can afford to just buy one of these cars anymore it’s only people with hundreds of millions to spend that buy more than they can drive. These cars not being driven is the result of a shrinking middle class that could buy one of these cars and actually have time to drive it. You can’t blame someone who owns fifty super cars and gets around by helicopter and jet for not having time to drive every single car very often. Gone are the days of the successful college grad lawyer/doctor that worked extremely hard and is able to afford a Ferrari that they drive on weekends. The amount of people in this comment section who don't know about engineering but love to talk loud is astounding. 1. The entire car is a work in progress, nothing from this can be used to speculate or form opinions. If you do form opinions at this stage, then you aren't qualified to voice that opinion. 2. Things like the gearbox, hybrid drivetrain, suspension, aero - is all still being developed and tuned to work together. The gearshifts are not slow because the gerabox is bad, they're slow because they are still being developed to work in sync with the hybrid system, thus not operating at max capacity. 3. The cars are not being pushed anywhere near their limits, both in terms of driving as well as engine speeds etc. 4. The drivers are F1 pros who are at one hand obliged to not say certain things, and on the other hand they know not to speak ill of things that aren't fully developed. Anyone who knows what they're doing when it comes to driving, knows you shouldn't base strong opinions off of a platform that isn't well adjusted yet. The reason they're very "meh" like, is exactly because they - out of all people - know the potential of cars like the Valkyrie, so they won't be impressed before it is at, or close to its final setup at production stage. It's like a gamer sitting with a super expensive PC setup, but nothing is calibrated to their taste yet. Sure, all the components are the best of the best and can offer massive potential, but it only matters once everything is in sync and calibrated to work optimally. 5. I'm not saying that because of what I listed above, that the Valkyrie is gonna be amazing at everything no matter what. Far from it. I'm purely saying that nothing from this video should be enough to let intelligent people form biased opinions already. That comes later, when actual production versions are viable for official testing. So hold your horses lads and ladies, and don't speak too loud about stuff you may not know everything about.

@@justina9914 thanks to the beloved brexit, aston martin is in deep trouble financially. lawrence stroll bought into aston with 200 million pounds. this prestige project is totally out of money, so is the company itself. the british car industry is on the verge of death and it won`t get any better by leaving the eu. jlr is considering to move their headquarters from coventry. this project is going to fail massively, which is a shame, i love the cosworth engine, but it is destined to fail. aston martins racing efforts are also not contributing to paying their shareholders, we might see them drop out, dunno about that atm. will be an interesting future if you ask me...

Y'all need to chill, it's a prototype in the early stages of development. You can see (and hear) from the onboard that they never even went over 7000 rpm. That's 60% of capacity. Equivalent to shifting a 991 GT2 RS at 4500 rpm. Obviously it's not going to feel fast. Also, the gearbox is a sequential race box, like the ones used in F1 cars and WEC. Faster than a Dual Clutch and about 150 lbs lighter. Look up seamless shift gearboxes, those are sequential, like in this car. It's also on road tires on a cold track, and the drivers aren't pushing it. I'm not saying it's going to be F1 fast, but it will certainly be a lot faster than what was shown here.
