It’s a case of new school vs old school with the new DB11 going up against the Vantage GT8. So will the all-British GT8 be able to hold its own against the AMG-powered DB11? Not really. You can get noise without increasing power. Power instead of noise or you could get both. Remapping the V8 Vantage it could go to 550 with ease and maintain that noise

Daniel Sadjadian a supercharged V8 sounds great too, as it doesn't Disturb the exhaust flow. But the vast majority are turbo charged, and it's not the same as NA or supercharged V8s.

I’ve got a bit of an odd request. Is there any chance carwow can organise a drag with say a 720s vs an agera. Examples of Eggs dragging from standstill AND having clear camera angles are near nonexistent. Ps, for egg fanboys i mnow theyre extremely fast, yet lap battles and standing start drags are a no no.

Being the fastest in a drag race or round a circuit doesn't necessarily mean it's the best. That Aston is raw, old school and a dinosaur by today's standards but the way it'll make you feel is worth so much more than track times.

I would have the old car. Love the old generation Astons better. But why is modern auto boxes so slow to kickdown!? My old Camaro might have a crappy 3 speed gearbox but it down shifts in a heartbeat!

NikesZ28 I think it is because in these tests they put the cars in the comfiest settings like how you would use it on the motorway and that also means that the transmission becomes slower but smoother. Also I believe turbolag plays an important factor. Mercedes has done a good job getting rid of turbolag with their hot V configuration but turbolag is still a thing.

Joshikun actually BMW did the Hotvee engine before Mercedes Benz. I have the hot vee in my 5 series and the turbo lag is non existent. Literally would not be able to tell it was turbo unless you heard the lack of exhaust.

The editing made it look slow, plus GT8 was already in the right gear for best pull vs GT11 in a cruising gear having to switch to lower gear and build revs which by that time GT8 has most likely hit redline and switched to next gear.

Worth a review view.. Take the old Dash Bezel gauge rings and Cascade up date to the new the new centre consoles blander with the fixed display until night when the lightings nice. the BEO is needed in the whole of the line.

The Stig I think they do rolling races in auto mode because thats how most rolling races would go in the real world: on the highway in auto mode. As for the manual Indon't really know either I guess it has just become kind of a custom to do it in second gear.

if this is based on a highway situation then who cruises in 2nd gear (in a manual) on the highway waiting to floor it ... they need to be both in the optimum gear because this is a test of acceleration not the gearbox reaction time..... both drivers are aware of the rolling run and should be prepared.... on the highway in reality nobody does a count down and still leaves the car in 6th lol.

The Vantage has a sound adVantage but the manual 6 speed is a disadVantage in a drag race. In a rolling race the manual transmission is an adVantage and the engine sounds G(T)r8, and of course the lighter weight is an adVantage in a breaking test.
