This isn't for our benefit it's simple, it's so his (the agent)client gets as good a real as possible (at barcelona)and to ensure the deal gets done sooner rather than later! As much as love the Villa, we are not at that level where as, players choose the Villa over Barcelona, and they have not yet fell enough either. I hope I am wrong but I feel we are just big enough so as to work in their games. We are just being used here.

We lacked a proper LW all season last year, indeed have never really replaced Grealish. Nedelkovic looks to have sorted RB position out.

Very true in terms of a ‘proper’ LW’er, bombing down the wing, providing width and crosses, we relied on Digne and Moreno whilst McGinn and Rogers operated much more as 10’s. I’m not sure that changes now we have Maatsen 🤔

The last thing we need in the squad is another winger! Obviously a very good player but we don’t need him and I can’t see us paying 200k a week which will massively eclipse any other player in the squad. We need that support striker roll and another striker if Duran goes, a cb if Emery wants a change. We just don’t need another winger

I love the idea of williams joining us, but I think he will go to barca, but barca need cash so my guess is williams will go to barca and pick up rahpinia from barca so they can fund the williams move, I think raphinia is a better player right now, but willaims will get better and raphinia has already peaked.

@@duncankilburn7612 Firstly the reported fees are ridiculous. Secondly this feels like Barca marketing a player by using our name again. Thirdly, no chance he comes. He's on £203k pw. If he reduces at all it won't be to the levels We'd be offering. Those sorts of figures are reserved for signings like Nico. Lastly, We shouldn't be funding Barcas purchase of Williams.

Two years ago we were unproven. At 20 then he probably hadn't heard of Aston Villa, since we have gatecrashed the Champions League with Emi Martinez and Olly Watkins as star performers. I agree on the pull of Barcelona but if he fancies the Premier League then Aston Villa under Emery and Monchi is an attractive option. In Emery and Monchi we trust.UTV.

I can understand your argument due to Williams being a LW, our LM/W last season (mainly McGinn / Rogers) played much more in a 10 style hole inbetween defence and attack, and our RW’s (Bailey) hugged the line, I think Williams is so class though that he could work 🤔

We Can not go and sign Raphinha. In any case the reported fee for a player Barca are desperate to get rid of is a disgrace. Before that, why should We give Barca the money to sign Nico? If they have the cash it's a done deal. Without it, it's an open market for Nico. Maybe We win that. Raphinha can be an after thought if Barca pull it off for Nico but not at that fee. I wouldn't be paying more than £30m.

@@johnn262 I've seen that wages would be an issue for Nico. Raphinhas current salary is €240k (£203k) pw Williams is €200k (£168k) pw. Nicos will rise when he moves but He'll probably still be on less than Raphinha and I doubt Raphinha is in a rush to come down at all let alone to the figures it would take to move to Villa. He'll go nowhere anyway.

@@LetsTalkVilla I do think Bailey needs good competition. Raphinhas numbers in the PL were good. But it has to be a no. As far as I recall he was awful when he wanted a transfer away from Leeds. Barca fans haven't liked him for some reason from day One. He's barely playing, not in the managers plans and the club want him sold. Those sorts of wages when you're desperate to get rid of players puts you.in the same position We're in with Coutinho where you basically have to give him away. Rushing in and paying £60m for that is not how We operate. I doubt We're interested and given his wages I doubt even further that he is.

Not happening. Aside from every other point made so far, the fee and wages would absolutely hamstring us for PSR for a couple of seasons. You can only amortise the fee, not the wages. We already have the worst wage v income ratio in the prem.

@@LetsTalkVilla the issue I have with that, not of your making fella, is that Digne was our best left back last season, but also a huge wage earner. I don’t think we can afford to take the risk to let him go. Not sure about the Courinho loan? Are we getting all his wages covered? Can’t help but think that we might need “wage space” for an Ollie backup, RB, CB and GK positions which still worry me. That being said, keep up the great work UTV
