He will have to come off the bench and score goals, just like Duran did. You can’t drop Duran in his current form. He is currently offering more than Watkins, even if you take away the goals. He presses harder and does not lose the ball as much as Watkins is, currently.

For an example, Tielemans said after the Man City game "having Onana and Kamara Taking care of the rear he had the "CONFIDENCE" to get further forward as i did not have to worry about whats behind me. So this applys with the back line. Completely agree, his biggest issue for us has always been that clinical edge infront of goal, machine in terms of all around workrate, but Duran just has that big extra doesn’t he!

If Villa sell Watkins/Duran, true #10 23yr old Charles DeKetelaere could be brought in from Atalanta who are right where we are in top clubs of Champions League- would be a stellar signing. Chukwueze like u mention, also Noah Okafor, 24, as forward. Hoping for RB Denzel Dumfries or CB Ronald Araujo more likely in AUG.

This Jan will be really really interesting, we need to get europe again if we want to push on but FFP is still breathing down our necks by all accounts. @LetsTalkVilla I feel like we got to the Prem hasn't been this competitive in years all it takes is one slip up and we're breathing down the necks of top 4 again . Plus Champion's League is just different gravy it has a magical feel to it and the money it brings in is necessary for us to compete for the long haul at the very least we could do with those reinforcements to prolong our stay or dare I say go all the way this season to help rake in the cash that can help cover it aswell.

olly has been brilliant once he got over his fatigue and niggles ,,,, the issue is finishing very very takeable chances we know he can be a one in two chances but its been terrible recently if olly is on it he has easily 15 goals so far this season even with his slow start so lets hope he can get that ruthlessness back

Does t appear to respond to pressure very well at times. Remember him saying he was worried about Danny Ings taking his place if he missed a couple chances when he was at villa. Tbe threat of Duran is very much a reality now.

Yeah I think Duran just has that clinical edge that Watkins won’t get at this stage of his career, Ollie is so crucial or was to the way Emery played, but in a 4231 you need a finished up top!

Someone please convince me that Louie Barry CANNOT offer what Philogene is supposed to be giving us right now. Why is he not gonna get an opportunity? The wing play is woeful with Bailey out of form, Philogene not replicating anything we saw in the Championship, and Ramsey injured. Don't think we're gonna sign a Luis Diaz, so why not give Barry a chance to run at defenders and provide service? No one else is.

I'm torn on what we do with Barry. I don think he gets regular minutes if we recall him and keep him. Do we risk interrupting his progression by doing that, or would it benefit him just for this season to go to the championship and get regular mins? He does seem destined for our first team now though, bags of talent and potential and seems to have a great head on his shoulders. Talks about Villa highly in interviews.

Our width has been non existent this year. Bailey has been awful, Ramsey injured, and Diaby has been missed massively... ...honestly i think Chukwueze and Tomori would be a decent window. We would probably have to sell Carlos and Buendia but thats more than ok by me. Carlos is solid but aging and is prone to errors and honestly i dont think Emi Buendia suits an Emery side

Geezer? He’s 25 😂 The other name floated from AC Milan in exchange for Philogene is 24yr old Noah Okafor who is built like Morgan Rogers and would be backup Striker for Villa. Its thought AC Milan could part with BOTH if Villa will pay some. Might happen! I like Okafor pretty well but i’m also not so quick to part with Jaden Philogene- i rate him! Other options are possibly Chris Nkunku/Joao Felix from Chelsea. I’d love Nkunku!!!

I think Ballard would actually be a really good move for a very god fee. Go look at Ballards in detail FBref numbers, he’s aerially dominant, composed and progressive on the ball, a decent goal threat and I think he’s either a better backup than Carlos or allows Konsa to go to right back permanently with Ballard starting at cb.

Yashin Ozcan LCB is very very similar to Pau… tall, skinny, great on ball but tackles very well and looks to be more sturdy than Pau. Only 18 but a great looking prospect. Unsure whether Emery would loan him out or look to incorporate him quickly. The guy is quite mature for 18.

Btw- the concentration issue is because Emery demands playing out of the back nearly 100%. What Villa need are some Long Balls, rather, to give defenders a concentration and stress break and to allow Villa more Counter-Attacking chances.
