Basically, each bleaching of these grand signified ships is cruel to watch for any ship enthusiast. Now it s the ASTOR, a traditional ship full of great memories. R.I.P.

Was on this fine ship for 5 days once, don't remember a single day, the party was that good!! NY's cruise in 2006 I think. Back in the days of bar free pours!!

Beaching is a special skill. Not normally used in everyday navigation ! Then the crew have to clamber down a rope ladder. Undignified !

Sad! I went on a weekend cruise out of Fremantle, Western Australia on the Astor in 2018. She was a fine little ship..

The lawyers (or whatever they were) handling the bankruptcy of the CMV didn't know what they were doing. Some ships were sold to other lines. But most were sent to the scrapyard. For a ridiculously low amount. Including my two favorite ships, Marco Polo and Astor. Really sad.

SOLAS killed off all the classical cruise ships. The new regs automatically signed their death warrants.
